Management of changes driven by leadership to improve process, efficiency, image and profits is terrible. New products, processes, software, etc., needs to be properly reviewed and tested and discussed with those who will use it before forcing implementation and once in place provide proper T & S.

Value the feedback available from your employees, don't implement changes without attempting to understand both positive and negative affects it will have through discussion and be open to altering your approach based on feedback from others. Value your employees as much as your board of directors.
When interviewing internal candidates focus more on what each candidate has accomplished during their tenure and what their potential is rather than going into the hiring process with someone already in mind and focusing on how you can explain that person is the best choice for the position.

Employee engagement through incentives, growth opportunity and improved benefits. Upper managements willingness to work with and accept feedback from their employees in order to choose the best route to achieve their goal remaining open to the possibility their ideas may not be what's best.
