Mr. Jeffrey Starr, also known as Jeff, serves as Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Bankunited, Inc. (Coral Gables, FL) and he has been the General Counsel since August 2009. Mr. Starr served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of North Fork Bancorp., Inc. He served as the Managing Vice President and Chief Counsel for Capital One, N.A. Mr. Starr joined Capital One in 2006 when it purchased North Fork Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. In his nine years with North Fork, Mr. Starr oversaw the legal, compliance and Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering divisions. He worked in the Los Angeles office of Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Underberg, Manley, Myerson & Casey and the New York office of Lord, Day & Lord, Barrett Smith. Mr. Starr holds a juris doctorate from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College and a bachelor's degree in political science from Muhlenberg College.
