Black Mountain Academy is a nurturing and small specialized boarding school for neurodiverse adolescent males (ages 14–18, assigned male at birth) who benefit from additional support in social relationships, academics, and daily life. Our homelike environment provides the intentional structure and individualized guidance students need to reach their full potential, enriched by meaningful experiences and adventure within our vibrant local community. Every element of the Black Mountain Academy's school and program is thoughtfully designed to foster growth and connection on campus, in the community, and within each student’s family. Our dedicated teachers, skilled staff, and licensed therapists work collaboratively with students to set goals, build relationships, and strengthen executive functioning, emotional regulation, and life skills. Through our integrated model, we help our students thrive through blending academic, social, and personal growth experiences that promote confidence.
Black Mountain Academy was founded in 2016 and its current CEO is Brandon Moffitt, LCMHC. Since its inception 10 years ago, Black Mountain Academy has grown to 70 employees.
Black Mountain Academy offers a supportive environment that nurtures academic, social, emotional, and personal growth for neurodiverse high school students.
Since opening in 2016, our students and staff have donated over 10,000 hours of service to local schools, organizations, and non-profits. We donate money to local causes and have helped raise money for charitable causes that matter to our staff, students, and families.
