  • Charging the Board

For general safety, we do not recommend leaving your board unattended while it is charging. However, leaving the charger plugged in longer than needed to reach full charge will not harm the batterythe board automatically senses when the battery is full and stops charging.

    Battery Charging Time

The standard range battery charges in just 1 hour and 15 minutes, while the extended range battery charges in 1 hour and 45 minutes. In a hurry? Every 15 minutes of charge time equates to about a mile of range on both standard and extended range models.

The 1st generation battery charges in about one hour. You can get 85\% charge in only 30 minutes.

    Battery Pack Chargers

The standard range battery and the extended range battery use the same charger. You can use the 1st generation charger with all standard range batteries. However, due to changes in the battery voltage, 1st generation chargers will not charge extended range battery packs.

    Using Battery Pack Chargers Internationally

The 2nd generation battery pack charger has an operating range of 110-240VAC, 50/60Hz and is certified for use in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe.

Charging the Battery Pack off the Board

For 2nd generation boards, Boosted Mini, Boosted Plus, and Boosted Stealth, you can charge the battery pack while it’s on or off the board. The battery pack cannot be charged off the board for 1st generation boards.

  • WARNINGS: DO NOT RIDE WITHOUT READING THIS MESSAGE

Your scooter can lose power and electric brakes at any moment due to braking when the battery is fully charged and other factors. Only ride your Boosted scooter at speeds and on hills where you’d be comfortable without power and brakes.

Braking downhill with a full battery will cause scooter shutdown and temporary loss of electrical braking power since regenerative braking will overcharge the battery. Safely come to a stop by using the mechanical disc brake or the rear fender stomp brake.

The Throttle Wheel in higher modes can be extremely sensitive to make the scooter responsive and fun, but it also means that fast or sudden inputs could cause you to lose your balance and/or lose your grip on the handlebars. We recommend trying to move the Throttle Wheel as slowly as possiblewhen learning to use the higher ride modes.

Hills and high speeds can be very dangerous and can lead to crashes, serious injuries, or death. Always be extra careful when riding the scooter, even if you’re an experienced rider.

Impact with cars and other vehicles can cause serious injury or death, so always be aware of your surroundings when riding in the presence of other vehicles. Ride defensively and assume that other vehicles cannot see you.

Always wear a helmet. The use of additional protective equipment (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and protective clothing) is highly recommended.

When learning to ride, we recommend that you start in a large, open, flat area with minimal or no obstacles.

Take care to protect your scooter from damage. We have engineered the scooter to handle shock and vibration from riding over a wide variety of terrain, however, riding off of curbs, doing jumps/hops, and subjecting the scooter to other high-impact events may damage internal electronic components over time. We recommend that you regularly inspect and maintain the scooter before riding.

Prior to using any Boosted product, we recommend that you research your local rules, regulations, and the specific laws that govern the use of electric vehicles on public roads, bike paths, sidewalks, or other places that you may ride. Ultimately, you are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations, and Boosted waives all liability relating to your use of Boosted products.

Warning: Whenever you ride a light electric vehicle there is risk of death or serious injury from loss of control, loss of braking power, collisions, and falls. To ride safely, you must read and follow all warnings and instructions in this document.

Warning:Always wear a helmet when riding. Avoid slippery or uneven surfaces, steep hills, traffic, cracks, train tracks, gravel, rocks, or any obstacles that could cause a loss of traction. Avoid night riding, areas with poor visibility, and narrow spaces.

Warning: Do not ride a Boosted scooter in environments, on inclines, or at speeds where you would not be safely in control of an unpowered scooter. In the event of loss of electric braking or battery fault, you may need to rely on the mechanical disk brake or rear fender stomp brake in order to stop.

Warning:Risk of fire and electric shock: Do not open or tamper with electronics housings. Doing so may result in voiding the warranty.

Warning: Pinch points: Keep fingers, hair, and clothing away from motors, wheels, and all other moving parts.

Warning: Avoid water: Wet or icy pavement presents a hazardous riding condition. While the Boosted scooter is designed to be water-resistant, large amounts of water has the potential to damage the scooter’s electronics, and water damage is not covered under warranty. Riding on wet or icy pavement is extremely dangerous due to the potential for losing traction and control.

Please ride responsibly and respect those aroundyou. How you ride will determine how peopleview this new mode of transportation.

  • Boosted Skate Airline Travel

Guidelines for airline treatment of lithium battery-powered electronic devices in passenger baggage are issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). IATA’s current guidelines stipulate the following for portable electronic devices brought aboard a passenger aircraft as either checked or carry-on baggage:

The device must have a watt-hour rating of less than or equal to 100Wh.

The battery design must have been tested to a test standard referred to as “UN38.3.”

Our standard range battery meets both of these requirements and is marked as such by a label on the top of the battery pack.

Our extended range battery exceeds 100Wh and will not be permitted on a commercial flight.

Although IATA’s guidelines are widely adopted within the airline industry, each airline defines its own regulations. We highly suggest calling the airline prior to travel, especially if you plan to take your board on an international flight.

The optimal way to transport the board is to remove the standard range battery pack, place it in your carry-on, and check the skateboard alone as luggage. Many of our customers have also successfully brought the skateboard on as a carry-on and placed it in the overhead bins, in the coat closet, or in other available cabin space with the assistance of a flight attendant.

Boosted Rev does not meet the IATA's guidelines and will not be permitted on a commercial flight.

Only rideyour Boosted board at speeds and on hills whereyou’d be comfortable without power and brakes.

Braking downhill on a full battery will cause board shutdown and temporary loss of braking power since regenerative braking will overcharge the battery. To alert you of this situation, the remote will warn you by beeping, and you’ll lose your braking power. Safely come to a stop by turning or foot braking and ride on flats or uphill to drain the battery before attempting downhill again.

The Throttle Wheel in higher modes is extremely sensitive to make the board responsive and fun, but it also means fast or sudden inputs can easily cause you to fall off. Start by trying to move forward as slowly as possible in these modes.

Hills and high speed can be very dangerous because crashes can cause serious injuries. Be extra careful when riding the board, even if you’re an experienced rider.

  • Signature Required

Boosted vehicles, stand-alone battery packs, and backpacks require a signature upon delivery. Please make sure that you, or someone you trust, is present to sign for your parcel at the delivery address.

    Expedited Shipping Requests

Due to recent changes enacted by the IATA (International Air Transport Association) regarding the classification of small vehicles powered by lithium-ion batteries, Boosted is unable to offer expedited shipping at this time. We are working with the IATA to explore these options for the future.

Shipping to PO Box or APO/FPO Addresses

Unfortunately, we are unable to ship to PO Box and APO/FPO addresses. FedEx, our delivery carrier, only ships to physical addresses and requires a direct signature from the customer. APO Box is not considered a physical address. We have tried shipping to APO/FPO addresses and had to stop as too many boards were being refused and sent back to us.

Combining Shipments When Your Order Contains a Battery

Due to the rules and regulations of shipping battery packs, we are unable to combine shipments when one or more battery packs are included in your order. They must be shipped in individual boxes. As such, you will have to pay individual taxes, duty, fees and shipping for each battery pack.

  • Don’t worry, this is a fairly regular and normal occurrence, especially with the drive wheels.

There are several solutions to remedy this:

Often the axle nut is too tight and will cause one or more bearings to click.Using a skate tool, tighten the nut until it is tight and then back it off a quarter turn or so until the clicking stops but there is no lateral movement of the wheel.

Another remedy is to use a little white lithium grease on the bearing seats (where the bearing rests in the wheel).

  • If your grip tape is missing large sections and is no longer providing adequate traction, it should be changed. If it is dirty, you can use a grip tape cleaner bar like Grip Gum, which can be purchased from any skate shop or retailer.

    1st Generations

Our 1st generation boards have wires running under the grip tape, so special precaution is needed to change it without causing damage to the wiring. We do not offer re-grip services for 1st generation models.

    2nd & 3rd Generations

The grip tape can be replaced without the risk of damaging any wiring. Changing the grip tape is the same as changing the grip tape on any other non-electric skateboard. Have at it!

We only replace Boosted branded grip tape here at Boosted HQ for $65-75 for longboards and it's $105 for shortboards. This service is not covered under warranty.

If you want to schedule a grip tape replacement service, please submit a service ticket.

  • The longboard deck used on the 1st and 2nd gen Boosted board is the Flex 3 Vanguard (38"/98cm), supplied and designed by Loaded Boards. It israted for use by riders up to 250 lbs(113 kg).

The deckisintended for speeds between 0 and 25 mph (0-40km/hr). Due to it's flexibility, it is not intended for higher speeds.

We tested our boards on a 25\% grade with a 170lb rider. While the board is still capable of carrying heavier riders, the hill climbing ability will be reduced and the stopping distance will increase.

    Extended Range Battery:

    Power Button: Flashing Yellow

Bottom Battery Indicator: 80, 60 and 40 percent light solid

    Tools Required

    4mm hex key

    Connector grease DeoxIT D-Series D100L Mini-Brush Applicator.

    Set of Boosted connector tools

The connection between the battery and motor controller may be re-established using the troubleshooting tips below:Video instructions here.

    1. Remove the battery pack from your board. Using a 4mm hex tool, remove the 6 battery pack screws and wing plates holding the battery pack to the deck. Place them aside.

    2. Lift the battery pack off the board. If present, unclip the the battery pack connector from around the metal wire connectors. Let it hang to the side.

3.Place the two plastic connector tools on either side of the metal connectors, making sure to fit the metal connector snugly into the curve of the tools. The ridge on the inside of the tools should sit along the outside of the metal rings, and the flat sides of the tools with the Boosted logos should be facing each other.WARNING: Do not use pliers to tighten or loosen the connectors as they will easily damage the threaded metal rings.

    4. Now, squeeze the handles together and rotate the tools in opposite directions, until the metal wire connector comes loose. Remove the tools and then using your fingers undo to metal connectors until separated.

    5. Under good lighting, check both sides of the battery connectors to make sure that there is no dust, debris, discoloration, wear, abrasion, or damage. If there is evidence of damage or deterioration, please call or contact

    6. Locate the small vial of supplied connector lubricant. Using the brush inside the vial, thoroughly coat each of the 5 metal connector pins on one side and the connector pin holes on the other.

    7. Connect and pull apart the two ends 3 or 4 times to make sure the connector lubricant thoroughly covers the pins. Then reconnect the two connector ends, making sure to push the two sides together securely. Next, hand tighten the metal connectors as securely as possible.

    8. Place the two plastic connector tools on either side of the metal connectors, making sure to fit the metal connector snugly into the curve of the tools. The ridge on the inside of the tools should sit along the outside of the metal rings, and the flat sides of the tools with the Boosted logos should be facing each other. Now, squeeze the handles together and rotate the tools in opposite directions tightening until the connector is very snug. This could take a few rotations.

    9. If present, you may remove the battery connector clip by snipping the zip tie that holds it to the wire.

    10. Placethe battery pack back onto the board.

    11. Using the 6 bolts and wing plates from before, reattach the battery, making sure you’re not pinching anything. Make sure the battery sits flat against the deck before tightening all the screws. When you reattach, start with the middle bolt on both sides, in order to keep the battery from tilting to one side.

    12. Power the board and remote back on. If you see a yellow light, that indicates the battery is not properly connected.

    5. Reinstall the front truck using the skate tool. Let any excess cable rest in the channel on the board side of your truck’s baseplate. Be careful to avoid pinching any wires.

How to Install the Brake Light

    1. Use a skate tool to unscrew the truck mounting hardware located on the back of the board. Unclip the motor cables to remove your rear truck and riser.

**NOTE** Do not remove the foam pad underneath the accessory port.

    2. Remove the rear accessory port cap and prepare to install the brake light by placing the brake light on top of the rear riser. Feed the light cable underneath the cable management clip located on the riser.

**NOTE** Boosted Mini (shortboard) risers are not interchangeable with longboard risers. The risers are labeled to help ensure you are using the designated rear riser for the correct board.

    3. Plug the brake light into the rear accessory port by lining up the arrows on either end of the connectors and press firmly together.

    4. Mount the brake light and riser onto the board. The brake light cable should make a loop in the opening located in the middle of the brake light.

    5. Use a skate tool to reinstall your rear truck. Allow the excess cable to sit in the opening on the board side of the truck’s baseplate. Be careful to avoid pinching any wires.

    6. Clip your motor cables into the cable clips on your rear riser.

How to Turn On/Off Your Lights

    Estimated Time: 15 minutes

    Tools you will need:

    4mm hex key

Remove the four standing platform securing screws using a 4mm hex key. Two of these screws are located at the rear of the standing platform, while the other two screws are toward the front of the standing platform and accessible by lifting up the crescent-shaped cutouts in the deck pad.

Remove the standing platform, making sure not to lose any of the rubber grommets which are inserted into the four holes on the standing platform. Note that there is an individual grommet inserted into both sides of each hole on the standing platform (total of 8 grommets).

The battery is the large black rectangle in the middle of your scooter labeled “Boosted Lithium”.The battery connector is on the side of your battery towards the front of the scooter. Place a finger under the battery connector to lift up the battery. Note: it may be firmly inserted in the battery bay, so give it a good tug if it feels stuck, and it should come right out.

Unplug the battery by pulling the battery plug straight out.

Plugin your new battery, lining up the slots in the two sides of the connector.

Re-insert the battery into the battery bay in the body of the scooter.

Re-attach the standing platform by re-installing the four screws from earlier. Do not overtighten these screws. It is only necessary to tighten them until they are snug.

  • Belts are a wear item that can last hundreds of miles or have an unlucky piece of gravel cause them to snap prematurely. Most riders do need to replace a belt every 2-4 months if they ride a lot.

You can purchase a replacement belt kit here.

The lifespan of your belts will vary depending on the road conditions you regularly ride on and the correct installation of the belts. Most riders find the belts last 200-400+ miles, but other factors can cause belts to break prematurely.

How to get the most out of your belts:

    Ensure they are properly tensioned

Keeping your belts tensioned correctly will lengthen the lifespan of your belts significantly. To find out how to tension your belts correctly, please review the below articles:

    Adjusting the Belt Tension

    Check for debris

Sometimes small rocks and debris can get stuck under the belts and on the plastic pulley wheel. The best way to avoid this is to try and ride on rock and gravel free surfaces as much as possible. You should check and clean your belts and pulleys regularly. You can use compressed air or a brush to remove any debris.

    Avoid hard braking

Constant hard braking can put extra strain on the belts causing them to break prematurely. To avoid this, apply the brakes gently and come to a stop over a longer distance. Only brake hard when a very quick stop is required.

Watch the video below for a step-by-step guide on how to recognize, replace, and properly tension (minute 1:36) your drive belts without the assistance of the Boosted Tensioning Tool.

  • Battery Charge Port Cover

We've found the best way for the charge port cover to stay put is to first make sure the center plug is firmly inserted, and then work your way around the outside, seating the outer lip.

    Power Button - Yellow Light

If you notice a yellow light on power button with the second state of charge light (80\% indicator) on. This status code is usually associated with a very low battery. Plug the charger in for more than 15 minutes, the flashing light will show and will eventually turn solid red to indicate it's successfully accepting a charge. If this does not solve the issues please submit a service ticket at this link.

  • Please note: The 2nd gen boards have the same pulley size as Boosted Mini S/X, Boosted Plus, and Boosted Stealth, however we recommend using only the same diameter wheels your board was shipped with. Changing the size of the wheels can have a big effect on top speed, braking and overall board performance. As such, please use caution when using Boosted Lunar 80mm wheels on Boosted Plus and Boosted Stealth, as the smaller wheel diameter will significantly alter ride feel and performance. We strongly advise against using Boosted Stratus 85mm wheels on Boosted Mini S and Boosted Mini X as the larger wheel diameter will negatively impact ride feel and performance.

    Estimated Time: 15 -20 minutes

    Tools you will need:

    T15 Torx screwdriver

    Philips screwdriver

    Bell Lever Replacement

Use a T15 Torx screwdriver to remove the screw on the lever of the bell. Be careful not to lose the spring underneath the lever which may also come off with the removal of the lever.

Insert the bottom of the lever through the center of the spring and insert the upturned end of the spring into the small hole on the bottom of your lever.

You will need to set the tension spring and align the lever at one time. Insert the spring extending from the lever into the body of the bell while sliding the lever and tension spring along the bottom of the slot in the handbrake assembly.

Holding the lever against the bottom of the slot of the handbrake assembly, reinstall the screw to hold it in place using a T15 Torx screwdriver.

Try using the bell. If the lever does not “bounce back” after using the bell, the tension spring likely slipped upwards during installation and released some of the tension that would normally be on the spring. You can go through the process again, and make sure to keep the entire lever assembly pressed firmly against the bottom of the slot in the handlebar assembly.

    Bell Cover Replacement

Remove the bell cover by removing the screw at the top of the bell assembly using a Philips screwdriver. Be careful not to lose the washer located on the inside of the bell cover.

Replace the bell cover by reinstalling the screw at the top of the bell assembly using a Philips screwdriver, and making sure to align the washer on the inside of the bell cover while doing so. Tilting the scooter so that the washer can be held horizontally inside the bell cover during installation can help with this.

  • If your board doesn’t go full speed and can’t go up hills, you are likely still in beginner or ecomode. Expert and pro modes unlock the full torque and top speed of the board. Check the manual to learn how to switch modes.

Our speed controller software has built-in torque roll-off. When you hit 2 mph below top speed in each mode, the torque gradually reduces to avoid a jarring deceleration when top speed is hit. Cell phone based GPS speed trackers aren't accurate enough, so only seeing 18mph in expert or 20 mph in pro is common.

  • It’s completely normal to notice that one wheel moves at a different speed or starts later than the other. The wheels do not necessarily rotate at the same speed. For instance, while turning, the outer wheel turns faster than the inner wheels. The wheels are independently torque controlled and have very small differences in friction. Belts, motors, and bearings will cause the wheels to spin at a different rate when they are upside down and not bearing weight.

  • The remote battery life is equivalent to approximately 8 full board charges. Charging time is approximately 4 hours.

How to Check Your Remote Battery Life:

The remote battery indicator on all remotes will turn red when the remote needs to be charged. The light willturn green when the remote is fully charged.

Usethemini usb port on the bottom of the remote to charge it.

    Remote Compatibility:

The 1st generation remote will not work with the 2nd generation board, Boosted Mini, Boosted Plus, and Boosted Stealth. We upgraded the Bluetooth radio to a higher power connection and added security features that are not compatible with the 1st generation board.

The 2nd generation remote works with the Boosted Mini S/X, Boosted Plus, and Boosted Stealth.

    How the Remote Works:

To activate the motors, hold down the Engage Button. With the motors engaged, roll the throttle wheel forward for forward motion, slightly back for light braking, and all the way back to come to a quick stop and then move into reverse. Be sure to hold down the Engage Button at all times when riding or you’ll have a skateboard with no power or braking.

  • If you are experiencing low range issues, you probably have some drift in the calibration of your battery meter. To correct this, fully charge the battery and then completely discharge the battery three times. The easiest way to discharge the battery is to flip the board over and tape the remote on full throttle. Run it down until the wheels no longer spin. This step is key. This should recalibrate the battery meter, and you'll be back up to full range in no time!

  • Deck

Do not clean the deck with harsh abrasives or chemicals; a semi-damp cloth should suffice to wipe off dust and dirt. We also recommend a small dab of Howard Feed-N-Wax wood polish for use on the wooden part of the deck only (do not use on electronics).

    Griptape

Remove any dirt or stains by rubbing grip gum vertically across the surface or by gently using a steel brush in a circular motion.

  • Speed wobbles occur when the board begins to involuntarily oscillate in short mini “S” turns. This typically happens when too much weight is placed on your back leg. While speed wobbles usually occur at higher speeds, you can also wobble at low speeds by distributing your weight in the wrong way. Remember to keep your back truck tighter than the front to avoid too much steering input from the rear.

What to do when speed wobbles occur:

The most important thing is to stay calm and try to relaxtense leg muscles can exacerbate the problem.

Try carving in one direction, as consciously turning will often stabilize the board and stop the wobble.

Lean over your front foot and slowly let off the throttle until the speed wobble stops.

Tightening the kingpin on your trucks may also help to reduce speed wobbles. Just be sure not to overtighten so you can still freely turn. Try only adjusting a quarter turn at a time.

Over time, frequent riding will strengthen the stabilizing muscles in your ankles and legs, eliminating the frequency and severity of speed wobbles.

  • If you’re experiencing any of the following issues, it might be because your battery pack naturally discharged too far:

    The board won't turn on.

The board won't respond to the charger.

The board turns on but then displays a blinking pattern (red and green).

The board displays a blinking pattern when the charger is connected (red and green).

You can recover the battery yourself without having to send the board to us.

To start, you need to have the wheels spinning enough to give the board a small regenerative charge.

This can be done by kicking the board around for 15-20 min at about 10mph, or even by being creative and having someone pull you around with a bike.

We’ve even seen someone use a treadmill or a hand drill setup to get the wheels spinning for a while.

Whatever method you use, please use caution. Keep the board turned off when you try this, and then immediately plug it into the charger without turning on the board or remote.

Try checking the remote or the app to see if it’s actually gaining charge after 15 minutes on the charger again.

If after a couple attempts your board still doesn't charge normally, please read the following support article in regards to 1st Generation service.

  • Regenerative Braking

You can conserve battery power and increase your range just by using the regenerative braking feature of your Boosted board. You will likely generate the most return of energy while braking to slow down from higher speeds or braking down a steep incline. Braking from ~22 to ~5mph or walking pace will generate a greater return of power. Slowing the final 5mph to 0mph may actually start using energy again.Coasting or kick pushing the board helps to conserve energy, and can put charge back into the battery in small amounts as well.

    Safety

Braking downhill on a full battery charge will cause the board to losebraking capabilities since the regenerative braking will cause the battery to overcharge. When this happens, the remote will warn you by beeping, and you’ll lose your braking power. Safely come to a stop before this happens. Start by ridinguphill or on flatter ground to help drain the battery and prevent this from happening.

    Tips for Conserving Battery Charge:

Ride in eco-mode for a better range than expert or pro mode.

Kick push to start and then slowly engage the motors, rather than accelerating from a full stop using only the motors.

When brakingfrom high speeds, brake smoothly until you reach the speed of fast walking then footbrake to a stop.

Avoid riding up steep hills when possible.

Avoid riding into strong winds when possible.

  • Riding a Boosted board is different from riding a regular skateboard, so please start off slowly even if you’re a skateboarding veteran. Find a large, empty parking lot to practice in. Don’t be in a hurry to graduate to the street; take your time and get comfortable with your balance and controls first.

Watch a step-by-step video guide on riding gear

    How the remote works:

To activate the motors, hold down the Engage Button. With the motors engaged, roll the throttle wheel forward for forwarding motion, slightly back for light braking, and all the way back to come to a quick stop and then move into reverse. Be sure to hold down the Engage Button at all times when riding or you’ll have a skateboard with no power or braking.

Watch a step-by-step video guide on remote tips

    How to stand:

We’ll refer to stances using skating terminology, left foot forward is “regular stance” and right foot forward is “goofy stance.” Choose the stance that you feel most comfortable in.

Take a wide stance and bend from the knees to lower your center of gravity. Remember to lean slightly forward on acceleration, and slightly onto your back leg when braking. It’s also important to look where you want to go, not at the ground, just like you would when driving a car.

Watch a step-by-step video guide on stance tips

    How to turn:

Turning is identical to turning with an unpowered skateboard. If you want to turn right, lean your weight so that the right side of the board is lowered toward the ground. This will feel like you’re putting all your weight onto your heels or your toes, depending on your stance. The same technique will turn you left. Remember to keep your head up and your eyes looking through the turn. By leaning slightly forward onto your front leg, you’ll improve your turning ability as well as mitigate the chances of you slipping off the back of the board.

    When you’re ready to ride:

Start by practicing in a parking lot. Find a smooth location without traffic and practice stopping abruptly. Remember, people aren’t used to skateboards going this fast and may step out, pedal, or drive right in front of you.

Once you’ve mastered riding in open areas, you can try graduating to the streets with traffic. When you’re ready for more acceleration, press the multi-button on the remote three times and you’ll move into eco-mode and then three more presses for pro mode. Make sure that you have practiced all the skills you need before this point, especially unpowered stopping (aka foot braking), and kick pushing. You’re required to follow all the rules of the road that bicyclists follow, including riding in the bike lane. Remember, unlike cars, bikes, and pedestrians, you never have the inherent right of way. Always be ready to yield to others and please ride defensively!

  • You will occasionally need to tighten the belt tension on your skateboard. If your board is making a loud sound on braking, this is a sign you need to tighten the belts.

If you have been riding with loose belt tension for an extended period of time, be sure to check your current belts. Inspect the belt teeth because they may need to be replaced due to accelerated wear from belt slippage. Proper belt tension helps expand the life of belts.

    1st Generations

    To adjust belt tension :

Use a 9/64 allen wrench to loosen the two hex screws closest to the wheels on the encoder cap (opposite the motor, overlapping part of the rear wheel).

Then gently re-tighten the screws. Be careful not to over-tighten these as the threads can be stripped when too much force is applied.

The internal springs will automatically correctly tension the belts.

    2nd & 3rd Generations

    To adjust belt tension:

Use a 3mm allen key to remove the two screws holding the motor cap on.

Using the same 3mm allen, loosen the 4 motor screwsexactly1/2 turn from snug.

Wrap your fingers around the motor, and use your thumb to press against the wheel, pulling the motor away from it, putting tension on the belt.

You should be pushing with a medium force, no need to go crazy.

While maintaining tension, tighten the two vertically aligned screws farthest from the motor first.

Once they're tight, you can let go of the motor and tighten the two remaining screws closest to the wheel.

Reinstall the motor cap and you're good to go.

Watch the video below for a step-by-step guide on how to recognize, replace, and properly tension (minute 1:36) your drive belts without the assistance of the Boosted Tensioning Tool.

  • Difficulty Rating: 2

    Estimated Time: 30-60 minutes

    Tools you will need:

21mm open-end wrench, or 8-10” adjustable crescent wrench

    4mm hex key

    3mm hex key

If you are working on the rear wheel, avoid touching the brake rotor during the entire process. If you accidentally touch the brake rotor, it can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol.

Let all of the air out of the tire by pressing the needle inside the valve stem with anything small, such as a 4mm hex key, while simultaneously putting pressure on the tire in order to squeeze as much air out of the tire as possible.

On the left-hand side of the scooter, you will find a plastic cap protecting the motor cable on both the front and rear wheels. In order to remove a wheel, you will need to first remove this cap, which can be accomplished using a 3mm hex key.

Remove the rear wheel from the scooter in two steps. First, loosen the axle nuts on both sides with a 21mm open-end wrench or 8-10” adjustable crescent wrench. Do not fully remove the nuts.

Next, while supporting the wheel, slide the two washers away from the wheel. The wheel should now slide down, out of the fork.

Remove the tire retention ring from the side opposite the motor cable by removing the seven screws and washers on the side of the wheel using your 4mm hex key. Keep the seven screws and washers in a safe place as they will be needed when reassembling your wheel. Note that the small washers can sometimes remain stuck in the screw hole but should be easy to remove and keep with the associated screw. The tire retention ring can now be lifted off of the wheel.

To remove the tire and innertube, push the valve stem all the way up and out of the rim. If you are having trouble getting the valve stem all the way out of the rim, try to remove more air from the innertube by pressing the pin inside of the valve stem while squeezing the tire.

Now slide the tire off the rim. If you are having trouble removing the tire, check to ensure that the valve stem is not at all extending through the slot in the rim.

If you are replacing the innertube due to a puncture, thoroughly inspect the inside of the tire to ensure that it is clear of all dirt, debris, or other sharp objects.

Place your new innertube inside of the tire. Ensure that the direction of rotation indicated on the tire matches the direction of rotation on the wheel and that the valve stem is exiting on the correct side.

As you slide the tire back onto the rim, feed the valve stem through the slot in the rim making sure that the bend in the valve stem allows it to extend away from the wheel. Check that the tube is not being pinched under either tire bead.

Re-install the tire retention ring with the seven screws and washers from step 6. The notch in the ring lines up with the opening for the valve stem. Follow a star-shaped pattern when installing the screws. Tighten all screws a little at a time, going back over the same star pattern a second time to finish tightening all screws evenly.

Insert your wheel into the fork. Make sure the flat edges of the axle line up with the slot in the fork and that the cable is exiting the axle in the correct direction (UP on the front wheel, and FORWARD on the rear wheel). Separate the washers on both sides of the wheel, and begin sliding the wheel into the fork. Make sure, on each side of the wheel, that one washer goes on the inside of the fork, and the other stays on the outside. If you are working on the front wheel, the slot with the motor cable should face upward. If you are working on the rear wheel, the slot with the motor cable will face the front of the scooter. Incorrect routing of the cable may cause damage, requiring replacement of the motor. Additionally, for the rear wheel, make sure that the brake rotor is inserted into the brake caliper correctly.

Once the wheel is completely seated in the fork, slide the outside washers into the indentation on the fork in order to lock the wheel in place.

Now tighten the nuts on either side of the axle using your 21mm open-end wrench. Make these as tight as possible.

Use a 3mm hex key to reinstall the nut and bolt to hold the motor cable cap in place on the left side of the scooter. The bolt should be inserted through the tab on the side of the fork.

Use the valve extender to re-inflate the tire with a bike pump, and you’re done.

  • Traditional skateboarding skills are very important to learn and will help you get the most out of your Boosted board. You can kick push the board as you would any regular skateboard and coast down hills with ease. Not only will kick pushing be useful if you run out of charge, but it can also be used to extend your range and improve your balance. If you can, try kick pushing up to speed from a dead stop and when you’re riding at low speeds. This will conserve a good amount of charge for when you really need it, like when riding uphill.

    How to kick push:

Start with your front foot pointing forward.

Bring your back foot off the deck and then bring it parallel to the front wheels, slightly off to the side.

Next, push your foot against the ground to propel the board forward, making sure to avoid your back wheels.

    Repeat if necessary.

Put your foot back on the deck and reposition your stance to your comfort. Ride on!

    Tips:

Start with small pushes. As you get more comfortable, extend your foot further and further forward to get a bigger push off.

Be sure to put your foot far enough out to the side that you don’t catch it on the rear wheels. This is a common mistake that may cause you to fall.

Your stance should be fluid and change as your balance shifts. Get comfortable moving your feet around the deck while riding.

You might find you’re more comfortable pushing with your front foot while your rear foot remains on the board. This is called pushing “mongo,” and while it is discouraged by skaters, it isn’t necessarily wrong. However, foot braking mongo is very unstable. It results in more pushing power but less steering control, so we advise against it.

  • Knowing how to footbrake is essential to riding safely. In an emergency situation, like if you drop your remote or encounter interference, the board reverts to an unpowered skateboard and you must be able to stop without using reverse braking. Please only ride at speeds and on hills where you would be comfortable without power and brakes.

    How to footbrake:

Reposition your front foot to point forward and bend your knee.

Face straight ahead and put your back foot out to the side of the board, in line with the front foot.

Aim to touch the ground with your heel first; slowly apply pressure and roll your foot flat.

As you footbrake harder, don’t allow your foot to drift too far back or it will hit your rear wheel.

    Tips:

Start learning at slower speeds on flat, even pavement.

Practice getting up to speed, positioning your front foot and touching your heel down, then returning to your stance without braking to get used to balancing.

Be sure to put your foot far enough out to the side that you don’t catch it on the rear wheels. This is a common mistake that may cause you to fall.

Keep your weight evenly across the bottom of your foot. If you put too much weight forward on your toes, your foot will chatter and skip. Stay calmquick and jittery movements will cause you to lose your balance.

Learn to footbrake in conjunction with the Boosted board’s brakes for faster-stopping power.

  • You can check the battery charge in three ways:

Using the remote press the multi-button on the remote once. The lights on the remote will indicate the remaining capacity of your 1st or 2nd generation Boosted.

Opening the app. For 2nd generation boards, Boosted Mini, Boosted Plus and Boosted Stealth, the battery pack must be mounted to the board to give a reading.

Through a set of indicator lights on the pack itself (excludes 1st gen). Gently press the power button. The five LED lights on the battery pack will illuminate and indicate the remaining capacity. Each solid light represents 20\% charge. Each blinking light represents 10\% charge. For example, four solid lights and one blinking light means there is 90\% charge remaining. The battery pack’s power button light will also change from red to green when it is fully charged.
