The job teaches you a lot, but the trade off is also quite clear. This is a fast track to managerial role (4-7 years before becoming a Project Leader, depending on the region), and it really trains you to be an all-rounded strategic thinker. Trade-off: no life Mon-Fri, and sometimes weekends too.
What makes you most happy at work?
Validation from people I work with and my clients. We are not shy about giving credit where it belongs.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
Health insurance is fantastic. Perks used to be excellent with travel benefits, etc. before the COVID, but they have dampened quite significantly since last year.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
There is an explicit and implicit focus on growth. Formal and informal feedback is an expected part of the job. Weekly discussions within the team include questions like "Are you learning on this project?"
What do you like best about the leadership team?
They are all very smart and driven people. I look at the leadership team, and genuinely think I couldn't do what they are doing. They are inspiring in both their intellectual prowess and work ethic.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Everyone carries their own weight and more in BCG. I can rely on my team members to do their job, do it well, and take initiative to fill gaps beyond their own roles when needed.
