Doing our part one store at a time
Casey's General Stores is continually working towards building more sustainable stores to lessen our impact on the environment, and to build safer stores for our employees, customers and the communities we serve.
There are over 20 different projects within the new construction program. Some initiatives include the LED light rollout, water saving practices, and improving HVAC units and refrigeration systems. These new building practices are projected to save each store location around $7,500 annually.
Reducing CO2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 54,227 lbs. Annually
In 2016, Casey's began a four-year rollout to convert all stores to LED lighting in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint. This project is projected to save energy consumption by over 50 percent, which is equal to the energy used by 2.6 homes annually per store.
Along with positively impacting our environment, this project also positively impacts our communities. With better, brighter lighting, it is our hope that our customers feel safer when frequenting our stores.
Casey's purpose is to make the daily lives of our customers and communities better, and our employees carry out and showcase this mission every day. Team members at the Store Support Center, distribution centers and stores rise to the occasion to help those within their community through a wide range of volunteering and philanthropic opportunities. Additionally, full-time team members at the Store Support Center are able to receive two days per year to volunteer at a charity or non-profit organization of their choice. Because we live and work in the communities we serve, our determination to better each community keeps driving us forward to continue to make a difference and positively impact each of our Casey's communities.
