How employees describe working at CipherHealth
I've grown immensely at CipherHealth through the incredible opportunity to work with talented coworkers and some of the top health systems in the country. I feel valued and truly enjoy going to work every day
Leadership is pathetic. The executive team has no formal leadership training nor experience and use psychological tactics to get under employees’ skin. All of the loyalty speak from one co-founder makes us think we’re in the Trump Admin. Ironically, he has the temperament of a 1st grader.
Extra perks that other companies don't have
Base salaries are fair and sales compensatation plans are milestone driven.
They genuinely care about the Team and growing each individual.

It depends. I've seen people hired after one interview and others going 6-7 times
30 min each for each person

Fully remote if you are not in NYC. In NY you have one day from home but flexible overall.
pretty friendly in WFH every wednesdays, once you "prove yourself"
How would you describe your overall experience interviewing at CipherHealth?
It was a good experience because I got the job. But It's not the same process for everyone and I have heard complains about it.
Pretty smooth, focused a lot of culture fit which is fine considering the work is so unique and requires a lot of training to get up to speed.
What are your coworkers at CipherHealth like?
Top Employee Response
The coworkers are fantastic! It's certain executives that make me question why such great people still work here.
They are amazing people. We see very humble and dedicated developers and they try to be kind to you. I'm sad that our team loses some leaders because other companies can afford more or treat them better.
What Engineering department questions did CipherHealth ask during your job interview?
About scrum methodology.
How helpful was your Engineering team when you were first hired at CipherHealth?
The onboarding was very very good. People are eager to help.

Code related questions, how would you solve problem x.

First HR, then a dev, then another dev, then the CTO. It took me one week to hear back from them.

Funny question. Given most of the leadership can go to work in pajamas you should definitely not wear Prada :-)
How do I do well in an interview at CipherHealth?
Be technically savvy and humble.
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining CipherHealth?
That the company values are not what I thought they were. I'm doing okay there but I plan to move to another company in 1-2 years if they don't align promises with reality.
How's the morale at CipherHealth?
Right now not great. It used to be better but some key people left the company in the last 6 months. I'm not sure why they left because there's not much transparency but yeah, morale right now is not great.
How much diversity is there among employees at CipherHealth?
Not much. I think we have less African American and women in key roles that we should have. Also, most people are very young so we don't have much age diversity.
What's the office layout like at CipherHealth?
We have a very modern office at 1 Penn Plaza. It has a scenic view of Manhattan.
What's the best part of your job at CipherHealth?
I think we can focus a great part of our time in coding. Since I love coding and I don't like meetings we have a good balance here.
Does CipherHealth drug test or do a background check?
It does not perform any drug test. The background check is something done thoroughly and some could say that it's extremely invasive in people's lives. Those checks are brutal and we don't know what they dig on us.
What's the internship program like at CipherHealth?
We don't have a formal one.
How does CipherHealth handle HR issues?
It does not yet. We saw some nice people leave because of this and that's bad for company morale. HR wants to help but they are mostly ignored.
How innovative is CipherHealth?
Very innovative. There's a solid product line driven by young but talented product managers.
How does CipherHealth measure success and growth in the Engineering department?
Tricky question. We don't have metrics tbh. So subjective measurements are the most frequent approach. Not always fair but it's how we have been operating since the beginning.

A company with enormous potential. Growing exponentially. Some severe structural problems but I hope our new investor JMI will address them before they damage the company.

Gym membership.

technical and culture fit
