Optimised Password Security (December 2017)

To ensure the best experience for all our users, we are currently in the process of optimizing our password strength policy. With this new policy you will no longer be able to sign into your Dailymotion account with a password that does not satisfy our new password policy.

In order to comply, your new password needs to :

Be at least 8 characters long

Contain at least : 1 letter, 1 number, and 1 symbol such as` : ~ ! @ # ) ;

You can update your password at anytime by logging in and going to: http://dailymotion.com/settings/change-password

You can anticipate this change by updating your password now.

Update Password

You can modify your password at anytime from the settings section. You need to be signed in to access this section.

Forgot Password

If you forgot your password when signing in, simply click on the "Forgot Password" link and we'll send you an email link enabling you to reset your password correctly.

Modify Email Address

You can request a modification to your email address from the app. To ensure your account security, you will need to have access to both email account currently associated with your Dailymotion account, as this is where we will send a confirmation email to initiate the process. If you no longer have access to the original email account associated with your Dailymotion account, you'll need to contact our Support Team in order to make this change.

The Age Gate or Family Filter setting is present to ensure that content that is only suitable for an informed audience is not made available to users who have not specifically requested it.

We constantly strive to ensure that the content published on Dailymotion is of the upmost quality and the Age Gate provides an additional level of protection for all our users and as such is turned ON by default.

Both iOS (requires minimum iOS 9) and Android native applications allow you to download / sync videos to your phone and watch them later without any internet connexion (offline viewing)

The offline feature is located under the player, simply tap on the three dots to open the video menu and then tap on "Watch Offline". You'll need to be signed in or create an account to use this feature.

Offline videos can be accessed via your Library and are stored for 30 days before beingdeleted.

Certain videos are not available for Offline watching, this is because the content owner has restricted access to their videos to standard online viewing only.

All uploads must conform to our Terms of Use and Policies.

To prevent spam, all Dailymotion users are limited to:

10 uploads per day

2 hours of video per day

60 minutes per video

2Go per video

If you surpass these limits, your upload privileges may be suspended for 24 hours and see an error message.

Some videos don't violate our terms of use, but may not be appropriate for all audiences. In these cases, content can be age restricted and thus not made available to all viewers.

When evaluating whether content is appropriate for all ages, here are some of the things we consider:

Nudity and sexually suggestive content

Harmful or dangerous activities

If you are looking to monetize your video, please review our policies as age-restricted videos are not eligible for monetization and arenot shown in certain sections of Dailymotion.

Every day, we strive to make Dailymotion the best video community around. Were not straight edges, but for obvious reasons certain content is prohibited from the site. Every day, we review all reported content to ensure our community standards are protected.

In general, we prohibit content that is:

Sexually explicit

Dangerous or illegal

Obscene or violent

Defamatory or hateful

Violates copyright law

Spam

In dealing with flagrant violations, we may terminate user accounts without any priornotice, and we may report the content and its uploader to the relevant authorities.

What is ads.txt:

Ads.txt is an initiative from The IAB Tech Lab. The main goal to increase transparency in the programmatic advertising ecosystem. It is a simple method for publishers to declarewho is authorized to sell their digital inventory.

The publisher puts a text file on his web server on the root level of the domain,it must be called ads.txt, and it must have its Read permissions set to World. The file must follow the IAB format (see below).

The file should list all of the companies that are authorized to sell the publishers inventory. This page will be crawled by DSPs and the information will later be checked against incoming bid requests to validate that the advertising system the ad request is coming from is authorized to sell the publisher's inventory.

Who is impacted:

This initiativeis only impacting monetization on embedded videos.

If you don't have any verified domain on your Partner Space, or if you don't export Dailymotion videos, you are not impacted by this initiative.

Why it matters:

If you are a Publisher, ads.txt will help you to:

Retain control over who sells your inventory

Improve the quality of the ads shown

Block unauthorized arbitrage and improve the overall user experience of your website.

Furthermore, complying with this initiative will show advertisers that your website is trustworthy and brand safe for their ads.

60% of the comScore 1000 publishers have already implemented ads.txt on their sites and this percentage will only increase

Publishers who are ads.txt compliant will be able to sell their inventory in curated markets - today major DSPs are already giving the option to advertisers to filter-outinventory that is not ads.txt certified

Below is a description VAST and VPAID:

VAST is a universal ad serving specification developed by IAB. It defines the interface for communication between the video player and ad server, enabling the server to pass information to the video player. For example, it passes the location of the ad on the server, how long to run it, the click URL, and the path for the tracking pixel). VAST is lightweight and supports simple in-stream video ad formats that are not executable.

VPAID is also a universal ad serving specification developed by IAB. It offers an API that enables interactive communication between the video player and ad server. For example, VPAID allows you to track interactivity and measure performance such as viewability, completion rate, and click-through rate. The downside to using VPAID is that it can slow down publisher sites.

Some content may not be appropriate for all viewers. Channels can use age gates to prevent logged out users and minors from accessing inappropriate content.

When evaluating whether content is appropriate for all ages, here are some of the things we consider:

You can add an age gate to a video by checking the box in your video edit page.

To edit a video, follow the steps below.

From your Partner HQ, select Media from the Navigation menu. You will land on the Videos page.

Locate the video you would like to edit.

Select the dropdown arrow at right, then click edit.

Edit your video as needed (learn more below).

Select the Save button.

When editing a videos advanced settings, you will be able to edit the following items:

Geoblocking -Decide where a video can be viewed. Learn more.

Publication dates -Use the date selectors to choose a date range for when a video is public.

Monetization -Decide whether or not to serve ads on a video. Learn more.

Subtitles- Add subtitles to a video. Learn more.

Replace video file-Change a video file by uploading a new one. Learn more.

The player sits right at the heart of our product experience. This is where videos meet viewers and great things happen. We have totally redesigned our player to offer an even sharper, faster and seamless experience across all screens including in our native apps.

Watch Later

Actions Within The Player

Seek in the video by tapping (placing your mouse) on the blue bar and moving along frame by frame. Select the frame to skip to that part of the video

Full-screen mode: use the button in the bottom right-hand corner to switch to full screen mode

Volume: Adjust the volume by using the using the speaker icon in the bottom right-hand corner

Video quality: adjust the quality of the video, using the settings switch in the top right-hand corner.

Chromecast / AirPlay: our player supports both Chromecast and Air Play automatically detecting when a connexion is available. Both symbols appear in the bottom right-hand corner, and tapping on either one displays the casting menu.

The player functions are not visible when a video is playing (we don't want to distract you from what you're watching). To pull up the function buttons, simply tap on the screen or mouse over any part of the player and they'll appear. After a certain lapse of time without any action on the player, the function buttons will disappear again.

Actions On Videos (below the player)

In order of appearance from left to right.

Like: show your appreciation for a particular video by tapping the heart icon.

: denoted by a clock, will let you save a video to watch later on.

Share: share videos via the button that looks like a paper airplane just underneath the player. Tapping on this button will display sharing options: social media, copy/paste link and embed video option.

Add to Playlist: The playlist feature is represented by a rectangle containing a plus sign. Positioned below the player, tapping this button allows you to add the video in question to an existing playlist or create a brand-new one.

For all of these features, apart from share will require you to be signed.

Full Screen Mode

When watching in full-screen mode all of the player functions are available within the player

You'll find our player cross-device, even on our native applications.

To download one of your videos, follow the steps below:

From your Partner HQ, select Media from the Navigation menu. You will land on the Videos page.

Locate the video you would like to download.

Select the dropdown arrow at the right, then click Download.

Your channel banner and avatar represent your visual identity on Dailymotion.

You can build a strong brand by using visually compelling and recognizable imagery. For your channel portrait, an eye-catching logo often works best.

Avatar specifications

Dimensions:At least 160x160 px and Maximum 1680x1680 px

Size:Maximum size for your Avatar is 460KB

Format: We recommend you a square avatar

Banner specifications

Dimensions: At least 1920x1080 px and Maximum 5000x5000px

Size: Maximum size for your banner is 16MB

Format: We recommend you to have the image focus on the right half.

Edit your channel photos

To edit your channel photos, follow the steps below:

From your Partner HQ, select Channel from the navigation menu.

Select the Upload button below either the banner or avatar placeholders near the top of the page.

To help you choose the best image for your Dailymotion channel, we've created 2 templates to guide you.

Our templates are built around 2 layers:

Guidelines - Representing the different renderings of the banner image based on the device and context

Image - Representing the banner min size (1920*1080)

Option 1 - Photoshop file (recommended)

Download & open the Photoshop template

Drag and drop the image you want to use as a banner as a new layer

Resize it to fit the image size and guidelines

Once you have resized and centered your image as desired, turn off the guideline folder

Use the Save for Web & Devices export option

Download & open the Powerpoint template (available at the bottom of this article)

Right-click on the image and replace with the image of your choice

Resize it to fit the image size and guidelines

Claim

If you own the copyright to content that is posted on Dailymotion without your permission, you can send us a claim in order to request the content's removal.You mustfill in a copyright notification form in accordance with the DMCA or the LCEN, whichis available here.

Resolution

Upon receipt of a valid claim, our community support team willact within 48 hours.

Once you've enabled monetization, you will automatically start earning revenue from your uploaded videos.

On dailymotion, many videos are served with in-stream advertisementsads that appear before, during, or after videos ( learn more about ad formats ). Enabling video monetization allows you to share in the revenue these advertisements generate when served on your videos.

The more views your videos get, the more revenue you earnso make sure to share your videos. And, you can make even more by embedding your videos on your own websites. To do this, you'll need to verify your domains.

To get paid, make sureto addyour banking information. Earned revenue will automatically be transferred to your PayPal account or bank account every month when your balance exceeds $100. Also, you can always track your revenue in your analytics and view your payments.

How can I use this method ?

If you are not comfortable with APIs and XML, we can set up an Excel integration for you. To use this method, you'll have to perform a few actions on your side:

Create an excel file listing all your videos and their metadata

Make sure your content can be ingested and is properly hosted on your properties.

Access to the assets

Video URL /Thumbnail URL arethe links for each video. The URLs on the Excel file must correspond with the URLs on the server.

For instance, if the file is on a FTP with a login and password, the URL must contain this information. There must be no spaces in the URL.

From your Partner Space

As a Dailymotion Partner, you can upload a video by following the instructions below:

Go to your Partner Space and open theMedia section

Select the Upload button in the upper left.

Select the Select video files button in the lower right. See upload specs

Choose up to 10 video files that you would like to upload from your computer.

Your videos will begin uploading. As they upload, you will need to fill out required information (title, language, and category).

Select the Publish/Save button.

Once a video has been uploaded, it must be encoded before it can be watched on Dailymotion. This process can take several minutes to complete.

Dailymotion Partner App

Our app makes it quick and easy to upload on Dailymotion and across connected social platforms. The app is available for iOS and Android devices worldwide.

Add your bank information

From Partner HQ, select Earnings from the navigation menu.

Select Payout methods from the sub-navigation menu that appears.

Fill out the form with your information.Fields include account type (individual or business), name, and address.

Select one of the three secure payout methods: Bank transfer, Prepaid debit MasterCard, PayPal.

Select the Next button.

You will be directed to the Payoneer site.

Create a new Payoneer account or connect your existing Payoneer account

Enter your banking information on the Payoneer site.

Once complete, you will be redirected back to your dailymotion account.

You can modify your information as soon as you wish by clicking on update, you will, however, be redirected to Payoneer for this purpose:

You will then receive an email asking you to confirm the request to change the banking information

Prepaid debit MasterCard

You will be directed to the Payoneer site.

Create a new Payoneer account or connect your existing Payoneer account.

Once complete, you will be redirected back to your Dailymotion account.

Creating a channel gives you the ability to establish a branded presence on Dailymotion.

Our Feature Videos tool, gives partners the ability to prominently showcase up to 3videos per channel page.

Follow the steps below to feature videos:

To edit your featured videos, follow the steps below:

From your Partner HQ, select Channel from the navigation menu. You will land on the Channel Basics page.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and search for a video by URL, ID, or keyword in the Featured search bar.

Select the video you would like to feature

Note: If you are already featuring 3videos, your oldest video will be unfeatured.

The Up Next Queue will be enabled by default on all embedded videos. It enables you to keep site visitors entertained and engaged by automatically queuing up a relevant video after each completed play.

You can disable the Queue by adding the following parameter to your embeds query string:

queue-enable=false

Ex:https://dailymotion.com/embed/video/x5yiamz?queue-enable=false

Save videos to watch them later on.

Spot a video you want to watch, and don't have time?

Watch Later is a quick and easy way to set aside a video for later viewing. Denoted by a clock icon in the top right hand corner of the video thumbnail, Watch Later allows you to bookmark a video for your next visit.

Simply click on the icon, and the video will automatically be added to your Watch Later list.

You'll need to be signedin or create an account to access this feature, which has the added advantage of being available cross platform - if you add a video to Watch Later on web, you'll find the video in your app library and vice versa.

Videos added to Watch Later will appear in your feed (the For You space) and you can then access / manage these videos via your Library.

There is no limit to the number of videos you can add to Watch Later, and every video will be saved until you decide otherwise.

Within the Watch Later section in your library you can find all the videos you added to your list. You'll also be able to delete videos (individual or bulk) from the same screen.

To embed a video on your website, go to the video's page and follow the instructions below.

Select theshareicon.

Then click embed video to copy the embed code.

Paste the code into your website's code.

You can also copy the embed code for your videos directly from the Media Manager.Follow the instructions below:

From your Partner HQ, select Media from the Navigation menu.

Locate the video you would like to embed and select the dropdown arrow at right.

Then, select the share icon. From there, you can copy the embed code. You can also select whether to auto-play the video, and customize the start time.

Alternatively, you can copy the embed code for your video in the video edit page. Navigate to the advanced video edit page and copy the Embed code for your video to paste onto your site.

There are three types of content on Dailymotion:

Each type of content can be managed in the Media section of your Partner HQ. To access your content, follow the steps below:

From your Partner HQ, select Media from the Navigation menu.

Select the type of content you would like to edit from the sub-navigation menu.

There are now three actions you can take:

Create / Upload: Create a new piece of content using the light blue button

Search / Filter: Use the action bar just above your content catalog to browse, filter, and sort

Select / Edit: Select single or multiple pieces of content and edit

The Channel management page allows verified partners to to add new channels, or manage existing channels in their organization. This feature is accessible to the account owner.

Adding a new channel

Navigate to the Channel management page

ClickAdd Channel

Upload banner and avatar photos

Fill in the required fields

ClickSave

Your new channel has now been created, and is visible in the channel list.

Editing an existing channel

Navigate to the Channel management page

Find the channel in the channel list

Click on the actions menu to the right

ClickEdit

Update the channel details as necessary

Click Save

The changes should take effect immediately, and now be visible on the channel.

Removing an existing channel

Navigate to the Channel management page

Find the channel in the channel list

Click on the actions menu on the right

Click Delete

Enter your password to confirm deletion

Your channel has now been deleted, and is no longer visible in the channel list.

Warning: Deleting a channel will remove any associated assets (content, domains, playlists, players etc.). Channel and any associated assets will not be accessible or recoverable once removed.

Buyers are expected to correctly classify all of their ads into the IAB categories. You are not permitted to serve ads that have been classified with blocked categories.

Then click the pencil button to edit the panel of your video.

On the video editing page, play the video and stop it at the desired frame for the thumbnail.

Click the Use frame button to the right of the player.

This will pause the player and enable you to save the desired thumbnail.

Alternatively, you can pause your player at the desired thumbnail, then click "Use frame" to select your thumbnail.

Website monetization gives everyone the opportunity to share in the revenue these advertisements generate. Before starting the upload, make sure your video file is equirectangular and includes the 360 "Spherical Video" metadata.

Some360 or spherical cameras already adds this metadata to your video file.

Otherwise you need to add it yourself using the "360 Video Metadata Tool" available here for Mac and Windows.

Open your MP4 video file with the 360 Video Metadata Tool, select the "Spherical" checkbox, click "Save as" and upload the newly saved video to Dailymotion.

We recommend uploading 16:9 aspect ratio 360 video sources in 4K (3840x2160) resolution.

Encoding errors may occur when the format of the uploaded video is not supported by Dailymotion.

To avoid these errors, we recommend uploading videos in the following formats: MP4, WMV, MPEG, AVI, DV, 3GP, FLV.

Encoding errors may also occur if your video is not optimized for the web. If you repeatedly face upload errors, please contact our support team.

The up next queue is displayed at the right of the player, it is automatically populated with relevant and top content from a partners channel. It's possible to take control of the content that is displayed by populating the up-next queue with videos from a specified playlist.

All types of content (videos, live streams, and playlists) can exist in only one of the following visibility states:

Public: Public content is viewable by everyone and appears in search results and elsewhere on Dailymotion.

Draft: Draft content is only viewable by a content creator when required information (title, language, category, etc.) is missing. Once required information is completed, content can be made public, private, or password-protected.

Private: Private content is viewable to those with a link and never appears in search results nor elsewhere on Dailymotion.

Password-protected: Password protected content is only viewable to users with a password you create and will never appear in search results nor elsewhere on Dailymotion. When embedded, a password is still required for viewing. Password attempts are Ip based and limited to 20 and after you can retry with only 1 drop per 10 minutes.
