I liked that the programming exercises were not whiteboard style where the interviewer is silent and waiting for you to get to the right answer. It's nice that they felt like a collaborative session with the interviewer.

Our interview process is extremely democratic--an IC can veto a candidate that a C-level exec wants with no fear of consequences. It's extremely rigorous and when people make it through they are almost always an EXCELLENT hire.

The interview panel includes so many people that aren't just engineers or engineer managers. Meeting everyone and seeing how many disciplines make Discord work was great. The interview was challenging but focused around actually writing code, so it felt relevant and not just abstract whiteboarding
