Executive Bio

Mr. Andrew Sherman, also known as Andy, has been Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Dolby Laboratories Inc. since January 17, 2011. Mr. Sherman is responsible for managing Dolby's legal, regulatory and intellectual property matters. He served as a Company Secretary, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of C-Net, Inc. He served as Company Secretary, General Counsel and Senior Vice President of CNET Networks Inc. since July 10, 2007. Mr. Sherman served as Board Secretary and General Counsel of Sybase 365, Inc. Prior to joining Dolby, he held the position of Senior Vice President and General Counsel at CBS Interactive, where he oversaw the legal group advising CBS's online entertainment, mobile, technology, sports, news, games, lifestyle and international business units. He joined CBS Interactive following CBS's acquisition of CNET Networks, where he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Prior to joining CNET Networks, he held senior legal positions with global responsibility at a variety of public technology companies including Sybase, PeopleSoft and Epiphany. Mr. Sherman served as General Counsel and Board Secretary of Mobile 365, Inc. He served as Vice President of legal at Sybase. He advised and provided counsel to the Board of Directors, committees and executive management concerning Mobile 365, Inc. and also legal affairs, including compliance with new and existing legal and regulatory requirements, strategic transactions, dispute resolution and litigation and more. He served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of E.Piphany, Inc. since February 2003. He served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of E.Piphany, Inc. from January 2003 to February 2003, as Vice President and General Counsel from January 2001 to January 2003, as Associate General Counsel from June 2000 to December 2000. He served as Vice President and General Counsel of Octane Software, Inc. (acquired by E.piphany, Inc.) from January 2000 to May 2000. Prior to joining E.piphany, Mr. Sherman served as Senior International Counsel at PeopleSoft, Inc., an enterprise resources planning software company, from February 1998 to December 2000, where he specialized in the representation of private and public technology companies in intellectual property and complex technology-related litigation and transactional matters. He serves as Chairman of Via Licensing Corporation. Prior to this, he was in private practice with the law firm of Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich where he specialized in complex technology-related litigation and transactional matters. Mr. Sherman holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, Mc George School of Law, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
