Mr. Joshua L. Smiley, also known as Josh, is senior vice president and chief financial officer at Eli Lilly and Company since January 1, 2018. Mr. Smiley has been Vice President and Treasurer at CoLucid Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since March 1, 2017. Mr. Smiley was Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of Eli Lilly and Company since October 01, 2016 until January 1, 2018. Mr. Smiley has been Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) since April 2007 and serves as its controller. Mr. Smiley has been with Lilly 21 years, serving in a variety of financial, marketing and Six Sigma roles. He previously served as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for (LRL) and Lilly Oncology. Mr. Smiley began his Lilly career in 1995 and has held positions in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking, Corporate Financial Planning and Business-to-Business. Previously, Mr. Smiley was a Member of Lilly's corporate Six Sigma initial deployment and leadership team where he held responsibility for Six Sigma efforts across G&A functions including Finance, HR, Legal, Corporate Affairs, IT and Elanco. Prior to his Six Sigma role, Mr. Smiley led U.S. sales and marketing efforts to government payers such as Medicaid, Medicare, the VA, nursing homes and public hospitals. He has been Director at Eli Lilly Australia Pty Limited since September 30, 2016. He has been a Director of CoLucid Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since March 1, 2017. Mr. Smiley serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees at Butler University where he serves as Treasurer, as well as a Member of the Board and Executive Committee for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. He served as a Director of CGI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In 2005, he was named by Citigroup and Treasury and Risk Management publications to their annual ???40 Under 40??? Outstanding Finance Executives. Mr. Smiley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Harvard University in 1993.
