In the event this Refund Policy conflicts with any agreement you have with Evernote, including, but not limited to, the Evernote Terms of Service, Commercial Terms, or Evernote Business Agreement (each referred to as "Agreement"), such Agreement will govern. Capitalized terms used in this policy but not defined shall have the same meaning ascribed to them in the Agreement.
Evernote Plus or Premium
Except as described below, Evernote Plus and Premium subscriptions ("Individual Paid Service" subscriptions) are non-refundable, and no prorated refunds or credits will be offered for partially used subscriptions. However, if we issue a refund or credit in one instance, we are under no obligation to issue the same refund or credit in the future.
We reserve the right to issue refunds or credits at our sole discretion in the following situations:
Where we materially modify the Evernote Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or Commercial Terms during a billing period and such modification ("Terms Modification") adversely affects you, we may refund a portion of your Individual Paid Service subscription fee equal to the remaining unused term of the Individual Paid Service subscription, as we determine appropriate or as may be required by applicable law. To be eligible for a refund, you must provide written notice which must (a) identify your account and (b) request cancellation of the specific Individual Paid Service. The cancellation will be effective upon our receipt of your notice and our determination that you are authorized to effect such cancellation. Please refer to the section entitled, ”How Can I send a Notice to Evernote” in the Terms of Service on how to provide notice.
As described in the Terms of Service section entitled, “Right to Modify the Service,” where a modification or interruption of any part of the Evernote service adversely affects you and alternative remedies as specified in our Terms of Service are not available, we may refund a portion of your Individual Paid Service subscription fee equal to the remaining unused term of the Individual Paid Service subscription, as we determine appropriate or as may be required by applicable law.
Evernote Business
Evernote Business Customers are eligible for refunds under certain conditions. As with Individual Paid Service subscriptions, if we issue a refund or credit for an Evernote Business subscription in one instance, we are under no obligation to issue the same refund or credit in the future.
Termination by Customer
Terminations eligible for refund:
For Customers whose Accounts are paid annually through credit card billing and who have three (3) or more End User seats, pro-rated refunds are available for all but two (2) of the Customer’s total number of seats. For example, if a Customer with ten (10) End User seats cancels her Account six (6) months into a twelve (12) month term, her credit card will be refunded one-half (50\%) the cost of eight (8) seats.
Terminations not eligible for refund:
Customers whose Accounts are paid monthly through credit card billing can remove any seats or cancel their Business subscription before the next payment cycle. Customers whose Accounts are paid via invoice, whether monthly or annually, can remove seats or cancel their Business subscription before the next payment cycle. Changes in any of these cases will be reflected in the next billing cycle.
Other than as stated above, we reserve the right to issue refunds or credits at our sole discretion, or as required by applicable law.

We’re excited to share an all-new search experience in Evernote Web. The new search offers more functionality than ever before. It is currently only available when using the new Evernote Web.
Some notable features include:
Search suggestions. Suggestions appear as you type in the search field.
Search filters. Narrow results by tags, checkboxes, attachments, and more.
Fuzzy matches. Typo? No problem. Suggestions include possible corrections
Saved searches. Create a saved search for complex searches or things you search for frequently.
Search Suggestions
advanced search syntax
The search suggestions are located in a dropdown list that appears when you click into the search bar. There are four sections in the search dropdown: search suggestions, go to, filters, and saved searches. These suggestions are powered by an algorithm that predicts what may be relevant to you based on various factors, such as prior searches and recent activity.
Search suggestions
Search suggestions are indicated by a magnifying glass icon on the left. When you click into search, search suggestions are at the top of the dropdown list. Clicking on a search suggestion will run the suggested search.
Go to...
This section suggests specific notes and notebooks. Clicking one of these will directly open that particular note or notebook, helping you get to where you need faster.
Filters
Search filters allow you to quickly search for a specific type of content. The following search filters are available:
Addresses
Attachments
Dates
Email addresses
Checkboxes
PDF files
Presentations
Images
Lists
Phone numbers
Tables
URLs
Webclips
These filters may appear in the search dropdown if you have this type of content. Alternatively, you can also type the name of the filter and then click on the filter name to apply the filter. Please note the filter will not appear if you do not have notes with this type of content.
Saved searches
Saved searches are now available in the new Evernote Web. You may already have saved searches that are synced from Evernote on other devices, and those will appear at the bottom of the search dropdown.
To create a new saved search, simply execute a search, then click the three vertical dots at the top of the note list panel and click Save search.... To change the name of a saved search, or delete it altogether, run the saved search, click the same three dots at the top of the note list panel, then click Edit saved search... or Delete saved search.
If you do not have any saved searches, this section will not appear in your search dropdown.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the new search only on Evernote Web?
We are introducing the new search on Evernote Web first and will make it available in future versions of the Evernote app on desktop and mobile devices.
Can I go back to the old search?
No. The previous search had simple search functionality where you can type in the text, hit enter, and see the results. You can still search this way with the new search, it just has additional new functionality which will help you find what you’re looking for faster.
How do I use filters to narrow my search results?
To use filters, simply type the name of the filter into the search box and select it from the search dropdown. You can filter in a variety of ways including by author, tags, attachments, checkboxes, and more.
How do I view the search history?
There is no way to view your search history directly. However, search suggestions take into account your search history to recommend search suggestions to you.
Does advanced search syntax still work?
Yes, still works in the new search.

Evernote's service is arranged in such a way that every sync operation goes through Evernote Web. For instance, if you initiate a sync from an Evernote desktop application, any new or updated content will first be uploaded to Evernote Web, and only from there can it be downloaded to your other devices when a subsequent sync is initiated. Every synced note in your account is stored in Evernote Web. In Evernote for Mac and Windows all of your notes are also stored in a local database on your computer’s hard drive.
Conflicting changes
Occasionally, two copies of the same note will be found to be in conflict. This could arise when a given note is edited in two different locations before a sync has taken place. In the event that happens, the note will be placed into a temporary notebook titled 'Conflicting Changes'. This is a safety measure that helps to prevent data loss and allows you to manually review and edit the conflicting data.
What causes it to happen?
If you are editing the same note on two different devices (A & B) and a full sync is not initiated (a sync from device A to the Evernote server and then to device B) before you edit the note on device B, then the note may be placed into a temporary 'Conflicting Changes' notebook.
How do I resolve a conflicting change?
If you see a 'Conflicting Changes’ notebook appear in your account, review the contents of each version that couldn't be merged automatically and apply the changes manually. Once you're satisfied that the original version has all of the changes, delete the version in the 'Conflicting Changes' notebook (as well as the notebook itself, if it's empty). If you would like to save a particular version of the note, you can copy and paste this version into a new or existing note in your account.
How can I prevent it from happening again?
The best way to avoid conflicting changes is to make sure that whenever you use Evernote, your device has had a chance to sync before opening your notes on a different device. Keep in mind that syncing is automatic and should be done in the background whenever you make changes; however, in some circumstances, such as being disconnected from the internet, this may not be possible.

If you'd prefer not to save to your default notebook, you can specify how you'd like to organize your clips before saving them to Evernote:
Title: Rename the default name given to the web clip.
Notebook: Select a notebook where you want to save your web clip. Evernote attempts to predict the most likely notebook based on how you've organized notes in the past.
Tags: Assign one or more keyword (tags) to your web clip. To remove a tag, click the 'X' next to the keyword/phrase.
Remark: Add additional comments or notes that will help you remember what you've clipped.
Once saved to Evernote anything you've clipped is fully searchable, including text in images. Enter any terms, phrases, or tags from your clips to find your clipped notes.

Notebooks can be organized in many different ways, for example: by project title or status, department or group, or customer accounts.
Example:
Group (or Department): Notebook

Human Resources:
New Employee Handbook
Contains a collection of resources shared with the entire company (vacation policies, benefits, company holidays, policies and procedures, org chart, etc.)
Recruiting:
Hiring Manager Resources
Contains content such as interviewing and feedback templates, hiring procedures and job descriptions and is only shared with the Recruiting Team

Define a set of reusable tags
Add searchable tags that reference a company, project status, a task or project owner, or other terms to make it easier to find or filter out content.
Note: Evernote Business account admins have the ability to create and manage the tags they'd like their users to use.

Establish naming conventions
Naming conventions make it easier for everyone in the company to find and manage content more quickly. For example, you could propose a guideline where each group or department uses their own group code (“MKTG” for “Marketing”, for instance) whenever they create a new notebook title. That code can be used to search for all the notebooks a particular group or department owns.
Examples
For notebooks: All notebook titles begin with a one-word prefix for the department or group that owns it. So, all Sales department notebooks, for example, would begin with “Sales:” as in “Sales:Reports”
For notes: All meeting-related notes all start with the date in the note title as in “2014-09-05 Weekly PM Meeting”
For tags: All tags that refer to a project or release phase begin with an asterisk (*) symbol as in “*alpha”, “*design”, or “*pending”
Template - Evernote Business Organizational Structure | Sample
What's the difference between personal tags, shared tags, and business tags?
Personal tags: You can create, remove, and edit tags in any personal notebooks you've created. Any tags you no longer need can also be deleted from your account. When you convert a personal notebook into a Business notebook, Evernote creates Business tags with the same names, without deleting any existing tags from your personal account (even though your personal notes are moved to the trash in the conversion process).
Shared tags: If you've been given edit access in a particular shared notebook, you can add and remove tags in any of the notes in that notebook. When you remove tags from notes in the shared notebook, they aren't deleted from tags listed in the notebook creator's account. Once a tag has been removed from all the notes in a shared notebook, the action is irreversible. You'll need to ask the creator of the notebook to add the tag(s) back into the shared notes.
Business tags: You can create and remove tags from notes in any business notebooks you've joined and have edit access to. Only an account admin, however, can go into the admin console and rename or delete tags from the account.

View Article6 ways Evernote makes project planning a breeze
Planning a project can be exciting, but also overwhelming. Whether you’re planning a business proposal, a kitchen remodel, or a trip to Mars, gathering all of the information you need in one place makes it easier to keep organized and on task. You can share your individual project notes and entire notebooks with others at anytime. If your team likes using Slack and Google Drive, Evernote integrates well with these tools, making it easy to share and collaborate, no matter what other tools you use.
reminders
1. Organize your project info into notebooks
Use Evernote to organize the different aspects of your mission to Mars. Start by creating notebooks to keep similar notes together, like notebooks for inspiration, research, and documentation, for example. Then group all of the project’s notebooks into a notebook stack for enhanced organization.
2. Clip research and ideas from the web
Bookmarks are great for saving links to NASA requirements and space travel blog posts, but clicking through a list of website titles isn’t the most practical way to review the content you’ve been collecting. Evernote Web Clipper saves the full content of each web page in a note and includes a link back to the original page. Instead of needing to review a list of bookmarks, you now have all the research for your project in one spot.
PRO TIP
Turn on "smart filing" in Web Clipper which suggests the most relevant notebook for the web page you're clipping.
3. Save important emails in Evernote
Make it easier to review everything related to one project in one place by clearing your email inbox and saving those emails in Evernote. Use your unique Evernote email address to forward emails directly from your email to Evernote. This way, you can view your doctor’s space travel authorization email alongside your medical and physical wellness reports and other mission-related notes.
PRO TIP
Set up rules in your email to automatically forward all emails to Evernote if the subject line includes the name of a project or a particular keyword like “report” or “campaign.”
4. Scan and attach project-related documents
Some items, such as signed liability waivers and manuals, still live on paper. Scan them all or add them all as file attachments into Evernote so all of your resources are kept in one place. The Evernote in-app camera even lets you scan a variety of documents into Evernote all at once.
PRO TIP
On desktop computers, you can drag and drop files directly into any note in Evernote.
5. Capture handwritten notes and sketches on mobile devices
In keeping track of things like orbit patterns and flight trajectories, sometimes it’s easier to sketch things out on paper. Then use Evernote on your phone or tablet to take a photo of your sketch and save it to your project notebook. For a digital-only solution, you can use a stylus or your finger in Evernote on your device. Notes sketched directly on your device are editable, and Evernote’s handwriting recognition means that you can easily find text inside your sketches and scribbles.
PRO TIP
Add sketches and handwritten notes directly into Evernote using the handwriting tool on Android and the ink tool on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. If you have an Apple Pencil, you can use it in Evernote on supported iPad Pro tablets.
6. Stay on schedule with checklists and reminders
Arguably the most critical part of planning any project is staying on schedule. You’ll need to make sure you have all of your medical exams, space training sessions, and required documents completed before you can board the space shuttle. Create a note with a list of milestones to be completed. Easily check off which tasks have been completed and see what still needs to be done. Add to notify you when when a task is due.
PRO TIP
Take it one step further and create an individual note for each milestone to provide more details, then create a separate ‘master checklist’ note with note links to each of the ‘milestone’ notes.

Overview
Tags let you add keywords to notes, making them easier to find and browse when you’ve got a lot of them. Use tags when a note might apply to more than one category or when you want to filter results in a certain notebook by a keyword. You could use tags to associate notes with categories, memories or locations.
Examples:
Project management: Add a tag to identify the project state (active, next, completed) or to the spec number or feature.
Task management: Add a priority label to notes (p1, p2, p3).
Recruiting: Add a tag for the location of a position or the hiring manager (nyc, tokyo).
Research: Add a tag for the relevant company or project.

View ArticleWhen you add and edit notes on one device, Evernote syncs changes to our servers and then to your other devices. If your notes aren't syncing properly, follow the steps below.
Verify you're connected to the Internet - Open your device's web browser and visit any website to ensure that you're connected to the internet.
Log in to Evernote Web - If you know that a device has already been synced and you still don't see your updated notes on another device, try to see if you can view them in Evernote Web. This will let you know whether your changes have already saved to the Evernote servers.
Restart your computer or device - Simply restarting a device may fix a sync error.
Update to the latest version of Evernote - Sync errors are often fixed with product updates. Download the latest version of Evernote from your app store or the Evernote website.
Check Evernote Help & Learning - If Evernote is displaying an error message when syncing, try searching Evernote Help & Learning for the error message to see if there are any suggestions for resolving the problem.
Check Evernote's status blog - Each week, the Evernote servers are updated with new versions of the various software components that power the service. During this time, the service can be slow or even intermittently unavailable. Check status.evernote.com to ensure that there isn't a server-side problem causing your sync error.
Empty your 'Trash' notebook - Sometimes a note in your 'Trash' notebook will cause sync problems. In this case, emptying the 'Trash' may resolve the sync issues. There is no way to restore notes once they have been emptied from 'Trash'.
Evernote for Windows - If you're using a Windows computer, verify that Work Offline isn't checked under Internet Explorer's File menu. Internet Explorer is the way Evernote for Windows syncs.
Evernote Basic - If you have Evernote Basic, verify that you don't have more than two devices associated with your account in your account settings.
Uninstall/Reinstall Evernote - Before uninstalling Evernote, ensure that all your notes are synced and visible in Evernote Web. You may also wish to backup or save a copy of your notes. How to uninstall and reinstall Evernote on your device.

We're excited to share an all-new note editor that we've been working on. The editor, currently in beta, has a more refined, streamlined, and modern appearance, and provides a foundation to build modern editor features in the future.
Some notable features include:
Readability. You can now adjust the note width to align with best practices for optimizing the reading experience.
Text styles. Custom semantic headers allow you to specify large header, small header, and other common text styles.
New Insert menu. Easily insert attachments, tables, code blocks, and more.
New to-do lists. Recognize at a glance which to-do list items need your attention.
Smarter paste. Struggling with getting content to match the styling of your note? We took care of that.
Highlighter colors. Choose from several different highlighter colors to call attention to various areas of text.
Use the beta editor
The beta editor is available using the new Evernote Web in Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox.
To switch in and out of the beta experience at any time, select Beta Editor or Classic Editor in the bottom right corner of the window. We recommend you use recent versions of these web browsers: Chrome, Safari, or Opera. Note: You cannot switch out of the beta editor in Firefox.
Frequently Asked Questions
About the beta
What is a beta?
A beta is a pre-release version of software. This beta allows you to be one of the first to experience our all-new note editor, and provide valuable feedback that will help shape the final product. Participating in the beta is optional. You can switch back and forth between the beta editor and the classic editor at any time during the beta period. Please note that the beta is only for the note editor in Evernote Web (using a supported web browser). The note-editing experience on any other desktop or mobile client will remain the same.
How do I provide feedback?
You can pass along any feedback or bugs, and generally let us know what works for you and what doesn't, by clicking the Beta Editor badge in the bottom right corner of the window and selecting Provide Feedback....
I don't like it. How do I go back?
During the beta period, you can switch between the classic and beta editors by selecting from the bottom right corner. Keep in mind, once we are confident with the stability of the new editor, the classic editor will no longer be available in Evernote Web. In addition, the classic editor may not be available in next-generation Evernote apps.
About the editor
What is the note editor?
The note editor in Evernote is the area of the app where you add text, attachments, and other content to your notein other words, the area where you create and edit a note.
Why are you building a new editor?
The new editor was redesigned to offer a more refined, streamlined, and modern appearance, and to create a foundation to build modern editor features in the future. It will also help us manage inconsistencies and bugs across platforms.
What features are not yet available in the new editing experience?
Non-PDF file attachment previews
Context
Google Drive integration
Presentation mode
Find and replace
Is my note content safe when using the new editing experience?
All of your note content is safe. However, you may notice that it looks a little different. You may also notice that some features are not fully implemented in the beta editor, such as text encryption, some file previews, etc.
What are some expected behaviors?
When switching between the classic and beta editing experiences, you may notice that certain content shifts around slightly. In particular:
HTML content like web clips or pasted HTML may get simplified in different ways, depending on the editor.
Attachments (files and images) in the middle of paragraphs and lists will be separated into new paragraphs in the beta editor.
How do I change the font?
You can select a font and a font size from the formatting bar. Additionally, you can adjust the relative size of text by selecting a heading type, such as normal text, small header, large header, etc.
How do I change the width of the white space in a note?
By default, the note body is sized to fit the window. To optimize the note body for maximum readability, click the "More options" button (3 vertical dots) in the upper right corner of the note, click Note width, then select a note width option.
How do I encrypt text in a note?
To encrypt text, use your cursor to highlight the text you want to encrypt, then hold Cmd + Shift + X (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + X (Windows) on your keyboard. A prompt will appear for you to set your custom passphrase. Do not forget this passphrase because Evernote does not store this information anywhere.
To decrypt the text in the future, click on the encrypted text and select Reveal encrypted content.... You will be prompted to enter your passphrase. You may also permanently decrypt the text by selecting Decrypt permanently....
Please note that you can only encrypt plain text content. If your selection includes anything other than text, such as images, tables, or non-text content, you will not be able to encrypt it.

View ArticleManage your tasks with Evernote
You probably have lots of tasks to keep track of, for all aspects of your life. For maximum productivity and for sanity’s sake, it’s critical to have a system that helps you keep on top of all the to-do’s in your life. Evernote is not just your workspace for tracking ideas and projects, it can also be the central spot for organizing and monitoring your tasks. Here’s how.
Basic task management
If you have relatively straightforward task management needs, a simple list or two of your tasks may be all you need. For instance, if you want to create a checklist of your work or personal tasks, just add a new note by clicking +New Note, and rename it 'Personal Tasks.'
Once you have created your new note, it’s time to add your tasks. Click on the checkbox icon, then start typing your first task. When you hit return, Evernote will automatically add a new checkbox for your next task.
Continue adding all your tasks to this note. If you have broad categories of tasks, separate them with titles in bold or in a different font color.
If some of your tasks relate to other notes you have in Evernote, you can access them with a single click by linking your notes together. For instance, a grocery list may be too long to include directly in a task list (the task itself is actually Go grocery shopping), but you’d want quick access to it directly from the task. To do so, we’ll create a note link.
Find the note that you want to link to. In this case, it’s the Grocery List note. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac), and select 'Copy Note Link' from the menu.
Go back to your Personal Tasks list. Highlight the Go grocery shopping task. While the text is selected, Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac), and select ‘Link' or ‘Hyperlink' then ‘Add' from the menu.
In the pop-up window, just hit Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V to paste the note link, then click OK.
Once the note link has been added, you can simply click on the task with the underlined text, and you’ll go directly to the related note. You can navigate back to your task list by clicking the back button in the toolbar.
After you’ve added all your tasks, you probably want to access your task list pretty frequently so you can stay organized and on track. For quick access to your task list, drag it to the Shortcuts section in the sidebar.
Now you have one-click access to all of your tasks.
As you complete tasks in your list, you can simply click on an item's checkbox to mark it as completed. You can also do this on your phone or tablet as you complete tasks on the go.
Enhanced task management
For more complex needs, such as keeping track of detailed project or task status, seeing which team member is responsible for a specific task, or managing tasks across many notebooks, you’ll need a different approach.
Start by considering how you want to filter or view your tasks. You may want to view them by status (to-do, doing, done), by project or customer/client (‘Newsletter' or 'Smith Account'), or by team member (Josh, Chris, Emma) - or by a combination of those characteristics. Spend a few moments considering what your filters might be. The list could look something like this:
Status
To-do
Waiting/pending
Doing
Done
Someday
Project
Project name
Customer/client
Customer name (last name, first name)
Company name
Team member
First name
Region
North America
South America
EMEA
China
Japan
APAC
Once you’ve determined what your filters should be, you’ll use your list to create tags, which will let you filter your notes by those characteristics. A very useful feature of tags is the ability to find tagged notes regardless of what notebook they are in, letting you filter your notes across your notebooks.
To add a tag, first open a note for which you’d like to apply a tag. Click the tag icon at the top of the note, and enter the name of the tag.
You’ll see the tag applied at the top of the note. If you want to add additional tags, just click next to the one you just added, and start typing the name of the next tag, then hit enter or return when you’re done. You can add as many tags as you need to - for instance, task status, along with who on your team is responsible for it.
After you’ve added a tag to any note once, as you start typing in the tag entry box to add a tag to a new note, any tags you previously created will pop up automatically. In Evernote Business, anyone on your team who has access to a notebook that has one or more tags applied will automatically have access to those tags.
Continue adding tags to your notes that contain tasks you want to monitor.
Reviewing your tasks
Once you’ve added tags to notes that need them, you’ll next want to be able to filter your notes by one or more tags. There are a couple of ways to do this.
To view all of your tags, click 'Tags' on the sidebar. You’ll see all your tags, and if you’re using Evernote Business, you’ll also see all the tags that are applied to notes in business notebooks you have access to.
When you click on a tag, all the notes that have that tag applied will appear in your note list, regardless of what notebook they are in. You can quickly see all the tasks assigned to a given team member or for a specific project. In this case, we've clicked on the tag ‘John' and are seeing all the notes assigned to him.
If you want quick access to specific tags, just drag the tag or tags you want to Shortcuts in the sidebar. Anytime you click on the shortcut, you’ll see just the notes that have that tag applied. This is especially handy for a quick view of status for tasks. For instance, drag the tags for 'To-Do,' ‘Doing' and ‘Done' to Shortcuts, and you are only a click away from seeing the status of all your tasks.
In some cases, you may want to filter by multiple tags at once - for instance, if you want to see all the tasks that a team member is currently working on. In that case, you’d want to filter by their name (in this example, John) and status (To-Do).
Windows: Click ‘Notes' in the sidebar to view your note list. At the top of the note list, click to filter by tag, and choose the tags that you want to filter by.
You can choose more than one tag - in this case, we’ll add the tags for ‘John' and 'To-Do' to monitor the tasks that are on John’s plate.
As you add each tag, you’ll notice your note list filtering your notes by the tags you’ve added. This way, you can see just the tasks (represented by notes) that correspond to any combination of status, person, or project. In the example above, we can now see all the tasks that John has yet to do.
If you want to reuse this combination of tags in the future, simply create a saved search. To do this, make sure the search box reflects the combination of tags that you want, click in the search box, then click 'Save Search.' You’ll be prompted to enter a name for your saved search.
Once you save it, you’ll see it in the drop-down list anytime you click the search box. You can add saved searches and shortcuts for any of the tags or combinations of tags you’ve created to filter your tasks.
Just drag the saved search from the drop-down menu over to shortcuts.
Mac: Click ‘Notes' in the sidebar to view your note list, then click the search box. At the bottom of the search box pop-up menu, click 'Add Search Option,’ then select ‘Tag.' Choose the first tag you want from the list, then click ‘Add.' In this example, we’ll first add the ‘John' tag, and then we’ll add another for 'To-Do.'
We now see our notes filtered to show just John’s to-do items.
To save this search for reuse, we can create a saved search. In the menu bar, click 'Edit > Find > Save Search,' then enter a name for the search.
Your saved search now appears in the search box. For one-click access to it, just drag it from the search box to Shortcuts.
Adjusting task status
Over time, your tasks will change. Team members will move from project to project, status of tasks will change, and so on. Make sure to update your tags over time to reflect the changing nature of your tasks.
To update your tasks, open a note that contains one or more of the tags you’re using to filter your tasks. You can delete a tag by selecting it and then entering delete on your keyboard.
Once the no-longer-relevant tag has been removed, add a tag to indicate what the update is. For instance, if a task that was in the To-Do stage is now being worked on, remove the old tag and replace it with a tag for ‘Doing.' If you’ve used a tag before, it will show up as soon as you start typing.
Maintaining your tags is essential for effective task management. Get in the habit of adjusting your tags as you tasks and projects change. If you’re working on a team, make sure everyone understands how and when to adjust tags for the notes and tasks they are working on.

View Article6 ways to use Evernote for research
Evernote is a great tool for research. Whether you’re investigating legendary treasures hidden by ancient civilizations, writing a novel, or working towards a PhD, Evernote is an invaluable tool for gathering information and keeping it all organized.
Discuss in the Evernote User Forums
1. Organize your research into notebooks
Let’s say you’ve come across a list of places in the world where explorers have allegedly left precious cargo still waiting to be found. You’ve decided to start your quest in Evernote, where you can save maps, artifacts, ancient manuscripts, and other clues you may discover along the way. To stay organized, start by creating a notebook structure to keep similar notes together.
PRO TIP
If you find the need for further organization, you can group multiple notebooks into one notebook stack. Keeping notebooks together makes it easy to find what you’re looking for.
2. Clip articles from online journals and archives
Save entire web pages into Evernote using Evernote Web Clipper. This is especially helpful when you’ve got short-term access to pay-per-view journals, periodicals, and other online archives. With Evernote, you won’t need to worry about web page content getting updated. Once saved, always saved. You can organize and search all the pages you’ve clipped alongside your other research notes.
3. Use your mobile device to capture images and scan documents
Inspiration often comes around when we least expect it. Use the Evernote camera on your phone or tablet to capture ideas on the go:
Snap photos of museum artifacts or reference materials from archival libraries you’re not allowed to check out.
Scan pages of old manuscripts or journals you can review and annotate later.
Once your sketches and handwritten notes are scanned and saved, Evernote runs images through a character-recognition process so text can become searchable.
PRO TIP
From any Android or iOS device, you can sketch drawings, charts, and graphs with your finger or stylus.
4. Annotate images and PDFs
Add text, arrows, and shapes to draw attention to important sections of images or other documents you’ve scanned into Evernote.
5. Record interviews and key conversations
To make sure you haven’t missed any important points during conversations with fellow treasure seekers, use Evernote’s built-in recorder to capture audio notes.
PRO TIP
To make it easy to reference later, add text notes or an audio transcription to the same note you’ve attached the audio recording to.
6. Share notes and notebooks with research partners
Involve others in the research process by sharing notes and notebooks. Grant editing permission to others who can provide valuable insights and resources. It’s easy to share and discuss notes and notebooks, without having to leave the Evernote app.

The following editing option is available on all platforms and devices:
Clear Annotations: Removes all annotations on a particular image or on a PDF. For PDFs, this means that annotations made on every page in a PDF are removed.
Note: For Windows desktop, select Edit > Clear Annotations.
The following editing options are available on the Mac and iPhone, iPad, iPod touch:
Flip (only applies to images on a Mac): Images are flipped horizontally (just as a page in a book is flipped from left to right or vice versa), and any annotations on the image are mirrored as well. Blocks of text, rather than individual characters or words, appear as mirrored reflections of the original text once the image is flipped.
Rotate: Rotates the current image (or PDF page on a Mac) 90 degrees clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Delete PDF Page (only applies to PDFs): Deletes the PDF page currently being edited (available on desktop clients.)
Note: You can annotate a note even if it doesn't have images or PDFs. Simply select Annotate Entire Note as PDF and Evernote converts the entire note into a single PDF page for you to annotate.
Annotating an entire note as an annotated PDF is currently available on Evernote for Mac.
Include an Annotation Summary
Note: This only applies to PDFs and is currently not available in Evernote Web.
Make it easier for your friends and co-workers to review all your PDF annotations by appending an Annotation Summary page as the first page of the PDF you plan to share.
This Annotation Summary displays the following information and appears in the Note Editor view:
Annotation count: A running count of the number of times each type of annotation is used in a document.
Snippet summary: Cropped areas of a PDF that show precisely where on a page each annotation appears. This makes it easy for others to quickly review and reference your ideas and comments, without having to search through the entire document.
To include an Annotation Summary:
Mac: select the Include Annotation Summary option while in PDF annotation view.
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: Select Include Summary from the Document Options menu (three dots (...) to the left of "Save" in the upper right).

View ArticleIf you have individual notes that you would like to combine into a single note, you can merge them using Evernote for Mac or Windows. Note merging is not available on Evernote for iOS, Evernote for Android, or Evernote Web.
Merge notes
Merging notes is very simple. In Evernote for Mac or Windows, select multiple notes by holding down Ctrl + click on Windows or Cmd + click on Mac, then select Merge Notes in the window that appears next to the notes list. This will combine the selected notes into a single note and place the original notes in the Trash. If you would also like to retain the original notes as individual notes, or if you mistakenly merge notes, you can restore the individual notes from your Trash.
Merged notes order
Mac and Windows each combine the selected notes in a different order.
Evernote for Mac
Merged notes are sorted in the same order as they are listed, as specified by the Sort by: options (for example: Title, Date Created, Date Updated, etc.).
The new note takes the title of the topmost note listed.
Evernote for Windows
Merged notes are sorted in the order the notes are selected for the merge, with the contents of the first note displayed at the top and the contents of the last note selected displayed at the end of the note.
The new note takes the title of the first note you selected for the merge.

Set a reminder for any note by opening the note and clicking or tapping the reminders button (alarm clock). For time-sensitive reminders, you can also add a date and time. Reminders appear in a to-do list pinned at the top of your note list where they can be sorted, marked as complete, and more. You can opt to receive email alerts on the day timed reminders are due. Once you've completed a task associated with a reminder, check it off in the reminders list. Checking off a reminder does not delete the original note.

View ArticleAnytime a note is deleted, it is automatically moved to a notebook in your account called the ‘Trash’ notebook. Deleted notes remain in the ‘Trash’ notebook until they are manually discarded, and can easily be restored at any time. If you think you’ve accidentally deleted a note, first check if it’s in the ‘Trash’ notebook.
Find deleted notes in your 'Trash' notebook
Scroll to the bottom of your notebooks list. The ‘Trash’ notebook is the last notebook in the list.
Click the ‘Trash’ notebook to look for your missing notes. Notes in the trash do not appear in search results.
