L. Richards McMillan has been Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. since October 31, 2007. Mr. McMillan served as Senior Corporate and Securities Law Attorney of FCX since 1995. He joined FCX after a 30-year career with the law firm of Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carr??re & Den??gre, L.L.P., where he served as Partner. Mr. McMillan served as head of Jones Walker's corporate and securities section and also served as a Member And Chairman of the Jones Walker's Executive Committee. Mr. McMillan studied undergraduate degree at Washington & Lee University and Juris Doctorate from Tulane University Law School. After serving three years in the Navy JAG Corps, he received a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University Law School.
