    The atmosphere has become much more political in recent years which was the case to this degree in years past. I would like to see people judged on their performance and contributions much more so than "who their friends" in management are.

  • GEA needs to swing back with de-centralisation. OneGEA condensed all decision making in Germany and this German-centric position does not work outside Europe.

  • If management would better listen to the employees, and take their advice into consideration.

  • Most office employees stick to a 9-5 schedule with some late nights needed. But in general your social life remains unaffected. For the guys on the road it is much harder to retain social life as you're sometimes booked on a job last minute and have to cancel personal plans.

  • In general there are no remote positions. But GEA Group has over 200 locations around the world, and there are some exceptions for certain positions in some countries.

  • promotions are decided by managers and networks

  • Alot of the promotions have been because you know the right people when promotions come but they generally say they will promote from within but you never really hear about it until the person has accepted the new position.

  • Layoffs have a softer name in GEA: "hive offs". Layoff process depends entirely on the direct manager. HR do not help at all. To the contrary, they usually complicate things innecesarily.
