Mr. James William Ireland, III, also known as Jay, has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of GE Africa at General Electric Company since March 2011. Mr. Ireland served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of GE Asset Management at General Electric Co. from June 2007 to 2011. He served as the President of NBC Universal Television Stations & Network Operations at NBC Universal Inc., a subsidiary of General Electric Co. from December 2006 to June 2007. He served as the President of NBC Television Stations since November 1999 and added responsibility for the Telemundo Television Stations in May 2004 following NBC's acquisition of Universal. He has overall executive responsibility for NBC Universal's 14 owned-and-operated NBC television stations and its 16 Spanish language television stations - 15 affiliated with the Telemundo network and one independent Spanish language station. Before joining NBC, he served as Chief Financial Officer of GE Plastics from 1997 to November 1999. After three years as an U.S. Army Officer, he started his career with General Electric in 1980 in the Financial Management Program in Lynchburg, Virginia and joined the Corporate Audit Staff in 1982. In 1988, he transferred to GE Plastics in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where he held several financial and product management assignments. He moved to Holland in 1990, where he was managing director of Polymerland-Europe. In March 1993, he returned to Fairfield as Manager, Corporate Investor Communications. In May 1995, he was appointed Vice President, Corporate Audit Staff. He serves as Chairman of NBC Weather Plus. Mr. Ireland serves as a Board Member of NBC Universal Inc. He serves as a Director of GE Asset Management Incorporated. He is a GE officer, a member of the Corporate Executive Council and the GE Capital Board of Directors. Mr. Ireland serves as a Director of the Television Bureau of Advertising and Maximum Service Television (MSTV). He served as Director of Internet Broadcasting Systems Inc. He served as Director of GE Capital Canada Funding Company, General Electric Capital Services Inc. and General Electric Capital Corp. He served as a Director of Valuevision Media Inc. from December 2003 to June 29, 2007. He serves as a trustee of St. Lawrence University and a trustee and treasurer of the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Ireland received his bachelor of arts degree from St. Lawrence University in 1977.
