Mr. Victor R. Abate, also known as Vic, has been Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President at GE Global Research, Inc., since October 2015 and General Electric Company since September 2015. Mr. Abate serves as Chief Technology Officer of GE and oversees GE's nine global research center facilities and a global team of 50,000 engineers at Global Research and in the GE businesses. Mr. Abate is a 25-year GE veteran. He served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Power Generation of GE Power & Water and General Electric Company until 7, 2015. He served as Vice President of Renewables at GE Infrastructure, Inc. since November 2005. Prior to, he served as Vice President of technology for GE Energy's power-generation segment, which includes gas, steam, wind, solar and hydro-turbine generators, gasification technologies and integrated gasification combined cycle. Mr. Abate began his GE career in 1990 and held several management roles in engineering, services, production and quality. In 1996, he led the large turbine generator business as the quality leader and served as General Manager of Generator Technology. In 1999, he assumed responsibility in leading the gas turbine volume ramp in GE's power generation segment and General Manager of Steam Turbine Technology since 2000. Mr. Abate served as an Officer of GE since 2003. Mr. Abate worked for Allied Signal and Zurn Industries and was responsible for mechanical drive technology and new product development. He serves as a Regular Director at American Wind Energy Association. Originally from Williamstown, Massachusetts, Mr. Abate holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Union College respectively. He also holds an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
