Mr. William A. Ruh, also known as Bill, has been Chief Executive Officer and Chief Digital Officer of GE at GE Digital LLC. Mr. Ruh has been Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of General Electric Company since December 18, 2015. He joined GE in 2011 to establish its Industrial Internet strategy and to lead the convergence of the physical and digital worlds within GE globally. Mr. Ruh served as the Chief Digital Officer for GE Digital at General Electric Company since October 1, 2015. Mr. Ruh served as a Vice President of Global Software Center at Software Sciences & Analytics of GE Global Research, Inc. and GE Energy Services, Inc. from February 28, 2011 to October 6, 2015 and served as its Global Technology Director of Software Sciences & Analytics since February 28, 2011. He was responsible for setting and leading the advanced services and solutions portfolio strategy, development and operations. He served as a Software Chief of General Electric Company until October 1, 2015. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Concept Five Technologies, Inc. from 1996 to 2000. He served as the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Software AG, Inc. from 2001 to 2004. In addition, he was responsible for the growth and expansion of the Solutions and Consulting Services team to provide Software AG's customers with superior customized and industry-specific solutions. Prior to joining GE, Mr. Ruh was vice president at Cisco Systems, Inc. from 2004 to 2011, where he held global responsibility for developing advanced services and solutions. Prior to joining Software AG, Inc., Mr. Ruh served as the Chief Technology Officer at The Advisory Board, a company from 2000 to 2001. He acted as various executive-level technology and professional services positions at The MITRE Corporation from 1984 to 2000. He worked at IBM in a variety of technical roles. Mr. Ruh has more than 25 years of industry experience and expertise in enterprise application integration and object technology. He has been an Independent Director at Magna International Inc. since May 11, 2017. He served as a Director of AkroMetrix, LLC. He is a Member of IT Advisory Board at Foundation Ventures, LLC. He is an accomplished author with four books released since 1997 and regularly speaks at the World Wide Web Consortium Conferences and the Gartner Groups?? Enterprise Application Integration Conferences. His latest book is Enterprise Integration, released in July 2004 by Addison Wesley. His other books are Enterprise Application Integration released in 2000 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc., Inside CORBA: Distributed Object Standards and Applications, released in 1997 and IIOP Complete: Middleware Interoperability and Standards released in September 1999 by Addison-Wesley. Mr. Ruh is frequent speaker on such topics as emerging business models, cloud computing, analytics, mobile computing, agile development, large scale distributed systems and machine to machine communications. Mr. Ruh graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, both in Computer Science from California State University, Fullerton.
