What part of HD's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Tools for drilling faster. Pipeline are having difficulty due to lack of pipeline construction
What's the interview process like at HD?
Great. Supervisors will interview candidate 1st and then lastly with the department manager, who will then make final decision with the supervisors.
What interview questions does HD ask?
It covers variety of questions: knowledge of mechanical design, oil and gas, pipe flow rate, knowledge of software (all softwares that apply to HD requirements), life outside work, family relations, social life, short time and long time goals, contribution in the growth of the company and many more.

How's the vacation policy at HD?
Vacations are generally a month worth of accumulated vacation. Can be taken 2 weeks at maximum or 3 weeks max for family issues...

Mostly twice a year
How's the work pace at HD?
Great. We always meet or ahead of schedules
What's the best part of your job at HD?
Doing mechanical design and learning and implementing new softwares like latest Autodesk inventor, Pro-E, Solidworks, ANSYS, Creo V5 and V6 etc.
How secure do you feel at your job at HD?
Very secured, but the instability in oil price and lack of contract from vendors have slowed things down, and this has resulted in lay offs
How can I improve my chances of being hired at HD?
Just make sure you are good at what you hired to do and be open to changes, and be ready to learn as you progress.
What kind of people succeed at HD?
Everybody that put their mind and effort at HD has 100% success rate.

Great and wonderful.
How do you feel about going to work at HD everyday?
Always looking forward to work everyday at HD
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at HD?
Not at all. It has no impact whatsoever with my social, family and life outside work

Minimum challenges, with the exception of lay offs due to instability in oil market and lack of steady contract
What are the team outings like at HD?
Great. In fact, I will say superb
What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining HD?
That I had had a previous experience, but I was graduating from college at the time. But it all worked in my favour, because the company did help me
How's the morale at HD?
Moral is very high even in downturn
How much diversity is there among employees at HD?
It's a highly diversified company in every aspect: Race, sex, sexual orientation etc
What's the office layout like at HD?
Mostly computer for engineering design and draft layout for paper design if need be. But mostly individual offices and in some cases, 2 individuals per office space. All these in an office building of on one level
