Executive Bio

Mr. Philip R. Wiser, also known as Phil, has been the Chief Technology Officer at The Hearst Corporation since February 1, 2012 and serves as its Senior Vice President. Mr. Wiser served as Co-president of Connect Company. He co-founded Sezmi Corporation (Formerly, Building B Inc.) in 2003 and served as its Chairman and President. He served as the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Sony Corporation of America and Head of the Sony Connect operation. Mr. Wiser joined SCA in June 2004 from Sony Music Entertainment Inc. (SMEI), where he held the post of Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Digital Services. Prior to SMEI in 2002, Mr. Wiser was the Co-founder of L Q Corporation, Inc. (formerly, Liquid Audio Inc.) and served as its Chief Technology Officer from 1996 to June 2001. Prior to Liquid Audio, he worked extensively in the Silicon Valley. During this time he developed audio algorithms and audio processing systems for several professional and consumer audio organizations. He directed audio compression work at Chromatic Research. Prior to that, he developed audio software systems for Sonic Solutions and Euphonix, both developers of professional digital audio products. He spent time at the world-renowned Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) during his tenure at Stanford. He serves as Member of the Board of Advisors at FoxyP2 Inc. He served as Director of Sezmi Corporation, L Q Corporation, Inc., and Fliptrack Inc. He served as a Director of Digital Signal Processing Research for Studer Editech Corporation. Mr. Wiser holds a summa cum laude B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1993.
