He served as Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Hearst-Argyle Television Inc. from January 21, 2004 to March 31, 2008. Mr. Hobbs served as an Executive Vice President of Hearst-Argyle Television Inc. from December 2005 to March 31, 2008. Mr. Hobbs served as Vice President of Hearst Corporation since March 31, 2008. He served as Executive Vice President and Deputy Group Head of Hearst Business Media of Hearst Corporation since March 31, 2008. Mr. Hobbs has advised on transactions involving both public and private media entities including the formation of Hearst-Argyle Television through the merger of Argyle Television, Inc. with The Hearst Corporation's broadcasting group; Hearst-Argyle Television's acquisition of the broadcasting assets of Pulitzer Publishing Company; The Hearst Corporation's acquisitions of The San Francisco Chronicle and The San Antonio Express-News; and Cable & Wireless U.S.A., Inc. in the sale of its dial-up Internet access services business to Prodigy Communications. He also advised on UtiliCorp United acquisition of Midlands Electricity from FirstEnergy and The Dreyfus Corporation's merger with Mellon Bank Corporation, among other transactions. He serves as a Director of Internet Broadcasting Systems, Inc. Mr. Hobbs holds a BA in Government and Economics from Cornell University in 1980 and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.
