How common is it to switch departments or teams at HFF?
Not common. It doesn't translate well to go from Investment Sales to Debt or even from a specific product type to another if you're not already working with that product type
What's the office vibe like at HFF?
casual and young, but we all work hard
What are your coworkers at HFF like?
great people
What interview questions does HFF ask?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? How do you work under pressure?
What's the interview process like at HFF?
Top Employee Response
extremely long and thorough.
What part of HFF's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Top Employee Response
HFF is rapidly growing and there are a lot of growing pains. They invest in a lot of great technology, but I don't know if they've really communicated with those actually needing to use it as to what functions are going to be the most helpful and relevant.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at HFF?
Top Employee Response
Put someone who actually designs in the corporate design position. Hard to have a robust design department when the person in charge of making all the design decisions isn't a real designer and doesn't actually understand what it is the designers need to be able to do their jobs.
What do people at HFF think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
Great CEO. Still generates business and is in touch with the actual business and doesn't just sit in his high chair overseeing everything.
How's the work life balance at HFF?
Top Employee Response
It's not great. You grind hard and if you have a lot of deals you're working on, expect to put in a lot of hours
What's the company culture like at HFF?
Top Employee Response
People on the support level are extremely helpful (even from other offices) and take the time to really lend a hand when needed. It's a great collaborative culture, which is rare to find in commercial real estate. But the firm is built to support the brokers and those wanting to move into production. Being in a support role doesn't have a clear path for advancement.
