Current employee at Hulu: * Lot of smart people * Company culture was used to building everything from scratch in-house rather than utilizing open source or existing tools etc but that has changed in the recent years. * autonomy given to the engineers * It's being more product driven than tech driven. * Adoption of new technologies is very good * Good amount of ramp up time for new employees * Management is not very transparent about the future of the company (ofcourse due to disney being the owner of Hulu)
It is a tremendously low performing culture. Over time Hulu has aquired folks resistant to change and only willing to do the bare minimum. It is a "no fire" culture even if employees curse at customers. The c suite micro manages. The junior folks are coddled. Too many teams run on consensus and the result is a meeting culture. Far too much talking not enough doing.
Lately? It's like House of Cards.
