How employees describe working at Kibo Commerce

collaborative environment, hardworking people, knowledgable

It's was straight forward. That's all.

I put Kibo Commerce, and it's rotten CEO Dave Post, in the same league as Terminal Cancer. I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy. The environment was absolutely toxic. Racial, homophobic slurs, and terrible microaggressions against black workers. Most quit. Some stayed and were pushed out.

Cohesiveness. But moral is very low.

Peers and subordinates are better compensated

  • I worked at Kibo Commerce. The type of people who succeed are those who are connected, and part of an inner circle. It wasn't due to how hard you worked. Kibo has a frat boy culture. You could work like a mule and never see an additional dime. Or you could simply be liked. Favored. And you will get all the opportunities.

  • People that are driven and consistently deliver.

Asked to the Customer Support Department at Kibo Commerce

  • Bad, bad, bad, bad. Long term managers and directors were walked out. My manager - the company would not even let her take her belongings. They came and took everything. This is how the company treated people who had worked for the company for years. Many many years. People who had relocated across country to help open the office. As soon as the company did not need them anymore it got rid of them.

Asked to the Customer Support Department at Kibo Commerce

  • Zero. Absolutely zero. I had several coworkers who had degrees and experience that would have made them a great fit for positions in project management, sales, IT Support, etc. But once they were placed in customer support, that's where they stayed. That's where the most need was and they couldnt move up. Or out. So many quit.

  • I asked to switch teams and was denied. Others on my team asked to switch and were denied. It goes through the manager and if they need you on their team, if your numbers are solid, you aren't going anywhere.

  • It's strange. We use to accrue time per pay period. Then Kibo went to unlimited PTO which was nothing but a lie in my opinion. Anything over a few days off you had to go up several chains of command for approval and from what I saw only certain employees, who were favored or connected, were approved. Others were denied. Many others. So it turned out that the unlimited PTO saw people getting even less PTO than what they were getting before they went to unlimited PTO. Most ppl had more time to use on the old system. They also did not need to go through several levels of approvals.

  • Company mobility? If you are referring to upward Mobility it is there but not much. You have to be connected in the inner circle. Kibo is very small. It has a very cliquish culture.

  • Just courteous and nice. However Kibo has no loyalty. I've seen top associates get pushed out the company, these people were professionals, all because of what they made or they spoke out on a toxic environment or abuse. They were suddenly gone. Other associates can make mistake after mistake and they are kept. Kibo doesn't follow its own disciplinary procedures. It doesn't run itself like an established company. It runs itself like a Startup. They do what they want, when they want, legal agreements and contracts be damned.

  • I wish I knew the environment would become so toxic so sudden. I also wish I knew about all the layoffs. When I was hired I knew Kibo was a startup and a small company in a larger investment company. They made Kibo out to be a new age fun type of environment. At first it was. But then it changed. I saw ruthless tactics. Very cruel tactics being employed inside Kibo against it's workers. Everything changed when Dave Post took over. I saw a supervisor who had worked for kibo and shopatron for over two decades and he had moved down to Dallas and bought a home to help open the office. As soon as he relocate down Dave Posts team let him go. I was told without warning and while he was on vacation. Evidently he made too much money. He had uprooted his entire life. Same happened to several others. It's no job security if you arent in the inner circle. None at all.

  • Very very hard. If you are not favored or in the inner circle. People in the inner circle get routine promotions. Others, who are working very hard, get nothing. Kibo has a college, frat, sorority type of clique. It's like a highschool clique. Those in the inner circle can bring in family and friends and they award them fancy titles after placing them in do nothing jobs with huge pay and little to no oversight. Everyone else gets micromanaged and pretty much not promoted or even given a raise. There are two different worlds within Kibo
