Mr. Christopher L. Mapes, also known as Chris, serves as the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of The Lincoln Electric Company. Mr. Mapes has been the Chairman of Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc. since December 21, 2013, has been its Chief Executive Officer and President since December 31, 2012. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc., from September 1, 2011 to December 31, 2012. He served as the President of Regal Beloit America, Inc. (Alternate Name: Regal Beloit EPC, Inc.) (also known as AO Smith Electrical Products Company) (a division of AO Smith Corp.), from September 2004 to August 31, 2011. He served as the President of Electrical Products Business at AO Smith Corp. since September 2004. He served as an Executive Vice President of AO Smith Corp., from 2006 to August 31, 2011. He served as a Senior Vice President of AO Smith Corp. from October 2004 to 2006. He served as the President of Motor Sales & Marketing and Vice President of Regal Beloit Corporation from January 2003 to September 2004. From 1999 to 2002, he served at Superior Telecom., Fort Wayne, Ind. He served as President of Global OEM Business Group. He also served as Vice President-Global OEM Products and Vice President/General Manager of Essex Group. He also served as Vice President and General Manager of Essex Brownell managing the acquisitions of Brownell Electro and Active Industries for the Essex Group. He began his career at General Motors Corporation, Toledo, Ohio, where he held a number of positions in manufacturing management and human resources. He has been an Independent Director of The Timken Company since February 14, 2014. He has been a Director of Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc. since February 2010 and Greater Cleveland Partnership since April 2014. Mr. Mapes holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind., and received a Law Degree from the University of Toledo (Ohio) in 1988 and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Ill., in 1998.
