Mariano's is definitely a company that discriminates against women. Women are paid significantly less than men in the same rolls. What's worse is that the female higher up (Christa VP of human resources) is threatened by other woman and does whatever she can to keep them at the bottom.
The personal connections and like actually becoming friends with them in and out of work.

The recruiting at this company is a joke. They hire people that clearly aren't cut out for the demands of retail. I have never seen such a high turnover rate. The amount of call offs everyday is astonishing.
Better training and leadership amongst the team members. Be given daily goals to achieve for increased business for the company.

There needs to be more better attitudes at the top of the company. There needs to be more support for the employees. Employees voices need to be listened to, especially department managers who have ideas and know what works since they are out there everyday.
No standards are enforced on customer service. Too many associates are not managed properly to promote the brand.

It was quick and easy
Stop hiring people who can't perform physically. It is a very physical job. You really do need to have some sort of athletic ability.
I would make sure it is reiterated that this is not an easy job. The demands are extremely hard and the hours are long. Also, this is retail. Don't hire people who aren't going to show up on weekends and holidays.
I've explained this already, each and answer I've given so far has been an indication of what's going wrong

Business action and more ways to make money should be implemented.
Clearer communication on goals to achieve as a business. Better teamwork standards in place. Management needs to know their people a lot better as a whole and not just a small amount of favorites to run their operation.
