How would you compare interviewing at MarketFactory to other places you've interviewed?
At my interview, there was more respect for the actual experience the candidate possesses. The interviewers wanted to hear about details of the experiences listed in the resume. And personality fit. Interviews I've had at other places seem to have been engineered to avoid making hiring mistakes. They were only interested in coding ability, even for senior candidates. I feel senior candidates perform poorly relative to junior candidates at those types of interviews. A senior candidate should not be coding at a low level constantly. Instead, they should be evaluated on their communication and listening abilities. How they integrate their past experiences. Their ability to conceive and break-down large systems and farm out the pieces. Mentoring and leadership abilities are also important.
What was the most difficult question that was asked during your interview at MarketFactory?
I did not find the questions difficult. They were probing in a humane and respectful manner.
How helpful was your Engineering team when you were first hired at MarketFactory?
Very nice and helpful. One of the guys invited me to sit with him as he investigated a bug. He talked through his thoughts and decision making. Very helpful and humane. And fun.
