Garry Lyons — Chief Innovation Officer at Mastercard

Mr. Garry Lyons serves as the Chief Innovation Officer at Mastercard Incorporated and served as its Head of MasterCard Labs. Mr. Lyons is responsible for developing and leading initiatives, programs and strategies to foster innovation throughout MasterCard. He also runs Mastercard's global R&D arm, having innovative payment solutions to market. He is responsible for building payment advancements and leveraging enhanced time-to-market capabilities to drive innovations through conceptualization, proof of concept, pilot and support commercialization, in order to deliver additional value to customers and consumers. He leads a globally diverse research and development team tapping into the broad knowledge of MasterCard payment experts and technologists worldwide. He served as Group Executive of Research & Development of Mastercard Incorporated since April 30, 2010. Mr. Lyons served as the Chief Executive Officer of Orbiscom Limited. He was responsible for defining strategy and the overall executive management of the business. He was with Orbiscom since its incorporation in early 1999. He has 20 years experience in the software and financial services industries, primarily focused on innovation and on the technology and business development aspects of deploying complex, large scale payment systems to some of the largest financial institutions in the world. He held various senior technology positions in Cognotec, Credo and ICL. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Datalex PLC since June 21, 2013. Mr. Lyons is a Technologist by training, with a B.Sc. in Computer Applications from Dublin City University.
