Javier Perez — President of Europe Region at Mastercard

Mr. Javier Perez serves as President of Europe Region at MasterCard Incorporated. Mr. Perez served as the President at MasterCard Europe S.P.R.L. since March 2006. He joined MasterCard in 1996 from Banco Bilbao de Vizcaya Argentaria, there he had held a number of top-level positions, including country executive for the Tokyo and Hong Kong operations. At various other times, he served as President of bank's Miami subsidiary, managing bank operations in Latin America and the Southeast United States; head of payment systems, commercial banking and new banking products in Spain; and international area head for the Asia, Middle East and Africa regions. Before joining MasterCard International in 1996, Mr. Perez served in executive positions at Banca Catalana, Banco Directo, Lider Direct Marketing, Lider Telemarketing, Lider Advertising and Visa International, where he was general manager of business development for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. In the past, he also served on the boards of a number a Spanish banking and insurance groups and serves on the board of Carlyle Private Investments Europe. He served as Director of Europe Region Board of Mastercard Incorporated since May 2006. Mr. Perez has Master's degrees from both the ESADE University, Spain and Thunderbird University, the United States.
