Follow through and communication. We set standards for everything, but don't follow through with them. Top level people don't always communicate with the people on the floor when it directly affects them.
I don't feel undervalued. My only compensation issue is with our insurance. The premium and deductible go up every year, and it's only catastrophic coverage.
We have an IU system that accounts for a large chunk of pay so it fluctuates through out the year. It could go away or at least be optional.
If they took pride in what they do, it would eliminate the majority of the issues, but there are no consequences when they don't so they just wing it. We need more people who think about how they can improve the job for everyone, not just make it easier for themselves.
They are extremely dependent, and lack the confidence to make decisions or take ownership. Address issues or concerns as soon as possible rather than complain to others that have no effect.
Eliminate some of the separation between departments. When some thing doesn't go as planned, each department tries to blame another one instead of coming up with a solution.

When there are consistent issues with an employees performance, there are no consequences. The people they work with just keep fixing the mistakes or covering their absence, so they don't feel the need to change what they are doing.
We tend to ignore certain issues, especially when it comes to personnel that are needed, or need to be gotten rid of. It takes a lot to convince management of the need for either.
