No what you're talking about. Don't try to fake it. People here can see through any technical imaginations you may conjure up during an Interview. However, if you have a cousin here, or know someone very well, then it wouldn't matter, since nepotism is still very high here. And, being of a particular "race" helps ALOT , here at Microsoft. There are still remnants of the old Microsoft here, the kind that don't like diversity so much. Or, they fake it to keep their jobs. It's sad really. Unlike Google or Facebook, diversity is part of the culture. Here at Microsoft, especially in upper-management you don't see much diversity. Be ready to answer any technical questions, that is most important ! Be confident, but not arrogant. Humbleness and friendliness is something Microsoft is working on, and diversity, so work on that as well. Overall, nothing else really matter except how smart you are for the job you're applying for. They can figure that out during the Technical Interview.
1. You got to prove our coding skills on a whiteboard. Best way is speak out loud of what you are thinking while problem solving and coding. Try to engage the interviewer into your thought design process and ask for a hint if you are stuck. Try to project confidence when writing code. 2. Assuming you know the product group you are interviewing with, make sure you have at least tried the product out (e.g. visited the web site, downloaded the app, etc...). Know the competitor's products as well. Then when the interviewer allows you to ask a question, have a question about your use of the product. 3. When asked about your own career pursuits, speak openly about the type of tech you are excited about. 4. When asked about your previous projects, speak of these projects with strong technical depth.
Research all you think you need to know, offline and on, get a good night sleep, be prepared and believe in yourself based on facts that this team will benefit from your skills, be pure in intention.
