Microsoft is a great company. The products are amazing and the strategy moving forward is impressive. As an employee, I must say that the Human Resources process is broken, perhaps beyond repair. Managers look for people to fire since they all have a 5% "good attrition" target every year. This results in a lack of teamwork across the company and hence a reduction in efficiency. Most employees have the 5% target on their minds for much of the time. The rewards system is tied to the target. Relationships have become MUCH more important that productivity. As a result, once again, employees are much less efficient. Together, the rewards and 5% system have broken the spirit of the Microsoft employee base. Until removed, the 5% target will continue to limit efficiency and risk taking within Microsoft.

Like Washington State, they don't. EOE is non-existent. You put in a complaint and nothing happens.

Terribly! Especially if you're a contractor, you practically have no Rights compared to FTE's.
