A Message from our President & CEO

"Here at Momentive, we’re proud of our high-performance silicones and specialties products, many of which help our customers address challenges more sustainably, in industries ranging from automotive, to beauty and personal care, agriculture, construction, and advanced consumer products.

Last year, we integrated sustainability into our strategic planning process to raise awareness of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. With our 2019 Sustainability report, we shifted to align with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.

Our focus on Sustainability will be integral to achievement of Vision 2025 and therefore we must be goal-oriented and will deliberately incorporate our progress into our key operational rhythms. We will set goals around energy consumption, low carbon/renewable energy use, waste, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. We will also make goals and approaches around sustainability visible in how we innovate, how we approach safety, and through the empowerment and diversity of our workforce. Enabling sustainability is not only the right thing for our business financially, but it is also the right thing to do for our planet.

Our Commitment to Responsible Care
Responsible Care® is the global chemical industry's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiative to drive continuous improvement in performance. It achieves this objective by meeting and going beyond legislative and regulatory compliance, and by adopting cooperative and voluntary initiatives with government and other stakeholders. Responsible Care is both an ethic and a commitment that seeks to build confidence and trust in an industry that is essential to improving living standards and the quality of life.

Momentive is a member of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), and committed to the principles outlined under the ACC's Responsible Care® program. Members of the ACC have significantly improved their environmental, health, safety, and security performance through the Responsible Care initiative. Participation is mandatory for ACC member companies, all of which have made CEO-level commitments to:

Measuring and publicly reporting performance;
Implementing the Responsible Care Security Code;
Applying the Responsible Care management system elements to achieve and verify results; and
Obtaining independent certification that a management system is in place and functions according to professional standards.

Corporate Responsibility at Momentive Performance Materials means being socially active in support of our associates and communities, being proponents of sound science, and communicating with our stakeholders in an honest and open way.

Operating ethically and with integrity, respect for others and a focus on the good of the whole are Momentive's core values. We encourage our locations across the globe to sponsor and support projects that benefit the communities in which we operate. Doing so helps us become more integral to our communities' success, bringing sustainable solutions to them and helping to make those communities better places.

Telling the Public
Part of our community outreach is ensuring that people better understand the benefits of Momentive's business. In conjunction with trade associations such as the American Chemistry Council, Momentive serves as an advocate for good science to ensure reasonable and sound regulatory policy. Momentive has invested millions of dollars over many years in scientific research to ensure that the health and safety of our technologies and chemistries are well understood.
