Executive Bio

Mr. James Tanner has been Chief Innovation Officer at Morningstar Inc. since August 31, 2016. Mr. Tanner served as Global Head of Business Development and Sales at Morningstar Inc., since January 2013. Mr. Tanner was Co-Founder of Markit on Demand, Inc., and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He co-founded Wall Street on Demand, Inc., in 1991 and serves as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Tanner served as the Head of Distribution & WSOD and Executive Vice President at Markit Ltd. (now, IHS Markit Ltd.) from 2010 to 2011. He joined Markit in 2010 when Wall Street on Demand was acquired by Markit. He served as Division Head for goldman sachs from 2006 to 2010. He has 20 years' experience in the management and display of critical financial information. Mr. Tanner holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and bachelor's degree in Russian language and literature from Haverford College.
