I'm mid-level, know my profession well (i.e. don't waste time at work), have kids, and prefer small business because they tend to be more flexible. What's work-life balance like?
*some* balance. Until they get busy, then you are expected to step up and just do it.
Can be ok. Can be hectic and work first and foremost. Depends on the contract and where you are placed. On contract do your hours and go home.
Life work balance is something I like the most at Praescient. It's totally by accomplishments not time so if you need to duck out for a doc appointment or simply need to take a break they get it. Analytics is hard. Helps that all of leadership came from that field so they get it.
Praescient seems to do a lot of classified work (same here). Since we work every day in classified locations, I find that HR is really the conduit to the company. Not the company's fault, just how this particular work functions. How's HR?
In my experience HR was turning over *very* frequently. So your only company contact is your contract manager. Most are sent onsite with a wave and a contact email if there are problems.
HR is ever changing. As it turnover in my experience.
You're totally right, Praescient does a lot of cleared work and HR is definitely one of the main people we communicate with onsite to help answer company questions for things like payroll, healthcare, security clearance stuff, travel, etc... HR is really good. She is super approachable and if she doesn't have the answer she will find it and get back to you ASAP.
Does Praescient Analytics drug test or do a background check?
Depends on customer contract requirements.

How long does it take to hear back after applying to Praescient Analytics?
The quick and the desperate.
Since I personally consider them to basically be a body shop type of contractor, if they have a position they are desperately trying to fill it to bring in revenue. So it should be quick turnaround.
What's the differentiators of Praescient from a small business standpoint?
Not really any. It's a hard scrabble small shop place. Folks can be nice, but in my opinion cutthroat.
Stable, growing strong with some big wins, flat organization, trusts you to do your job, great coworkers, cool programs in the investigative field, tech-forward but not elitist about it
What perk or benefit should Praescient Analytics have?
Benefits are pretty good. We're all over the world so communication can be difficult at times, it would be nice if they cracked the code on how to keep everyone more informed on what's going on with the company
Vacation time that is actually paid out when you leave. Check the benefits pamphlet, it isn't. You leave, you lose it.
What benefits does Praescient Analytics provide?
Basic healthcare benefits - probably a bit below average. But they meet the basics. Vacation - Again, basic. But beware, if you leave, you do NOT get paid for unused vacation time. And it's in the package documentation buried deep.
Mediocre health, dreary environment, vacation (Use it, they will NOT pay you for it when you leave. Many have found that out the hard way. It's buried deep in the information you are given when hired.). Overall not the best set of benefits.
What should I wear for an interview at Praescient Analytics?
Waders. They will be shoveling it fast and deep.

The hype versus reality. Knowing more company history would have sent me running.

Good companies have to rise above the muck. So you always have to have muck.

Tiny company. Doesn't really have the infrastructure to have departments. Fancy titles, yes. Departments, no.
What's the interview process like at Praescient Analytics?
Meet managers, staff, whoever is around. Go over resume. If it's technical they typically don't have anybody with deep experience to delve into specifics. (In my opinion.)
What is the dress code at Praescient Analytics?
Depends on your location - in office casual, on customer site - one level up from customer. (Typically business casual)
What is the PTO policy at Praescient Analytics?
Typical industry, holidays and 2 weeks. But they do NOT pay out unused vacation. (Which is pretty cheap in my personal opinion. Supposed to be part of your benefits, but if you work hard enough to *not* be able to take it, too bad for you.)

Poker face when you know you are being lied to. (Or to a customer in front of you) . In my opinion that is.

Poor mobility. Most of the positions are contract based for very specific skills. No appreciable bench to bridge between contracts. Contract over? Most likely you will be leaving. And check the benefits handout. They don’t pay out unused vacation.
