Dr. Sam Bozzette, MD, PhD has been Vice President and Chief Scientist of Retrospective and Interventional Research Division at Premier, Inc. since September 2017. An internationally-recognized researcher and physician executive, Dr. Bozzette provides strategic clinical, analytical and operational direction to further grow the Premier Applied Sciences research business and improve the overall quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of care. Dr. Bozzette is a leader in medical and social sciences and has more than 25 years of experience working with academic and non-profit healthcare providers to improve clinical decision-making practices, care delivery efficiency and effectiveness and population health management. Dr. Bozzette served as Vice President of Medical Affairs-Americas and Healthcare Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) for bioMerieux and as a Physician Executive at Cerner. Before that, he was Senior Natural Scientist at the RAND Corporation and a Professor of Medicine and of International Relations at the University of California San Diego where he retains an adjunct appointment. Dr. Bozzette has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications, including over a dozen in the New England Journal of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America and an elected member of American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Association of American Physicians and the Pacific Council on International Policy.
