Mark L. Drew — Executive VP & General Counsel at Protective Life

Mr. Mark L. Drew has been an Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Protective Life Corporation since August 2016. Mr. Drew served as Managing Partner of Maynard Cooper & Gale, P.C. and also served as its Managing Shareholder from 2006 to July 2016. He focuses primarily in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, venture capital financings and related corporate activities and transactions, including significant experience in international joint ventures. As a corporate lawyer, Mr. Drew served as counsel to private and public companies, including banking, insurance and other financial institutions, at both the board and transactional level. He has significant experience handling corporate transactions at the international level and has worked on matters in the Middle East, China, Europe, South America and Canada. He serves as a Director at Office for the Advancement of Developing Industries. Mr. Drew has been Director of National Commerce Corporation and National Bank of Commerce since January 1, 2017. He was a Cabinet Member and Director of the ABA/YLD and was a Liaison to the Business Law Section. He is a Member of American Bar Association, Alabama State Bar Association and Birmingham Bar Association. Mr. Drew received J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1988 and B.S. in Accounting from Wake Forest University in 1983.
