Ms. Michelle Moloney, FSA, CFA, has been Chief Risk Officer of Protective Life Corporation since November 7, 2016 and its Senior Vice President since February 14, 2017. Ms. Moloney leads the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, providing oversight of enterprise risks, including insurance, actuarial and product, credit, trading and hedging, market, interest rate and equity, operational, regulatory and reputational. She served as an Executive Managing Director of Corporate & Strategic Development at Transamerica Reinsurance Co. Ms. Moloney is responsible for leading overall strategic planning and business development. She collaborates with business unit leaders to oversee growth initiatives. She joined Transamerica Reinsurance Co in 2001 and served as its Vice President of Corporate & Strategic Development. Prior to her move into strategic development, Ms. Moloney led cross-divisional efforts in Transamerica Reinsurance Alternative Markets area to develop new business ventures and to assess and pursue strategic merger and acquisition opportunities. She served as Senior Vice President, Strategy & Regulation for the Reinsurance Division of Wells Fargo in Charlotte, NC. She is an experienced life insurance professional with more than 20 years experience in the industry, of which more than half have been in reinsurance. Ms. Moloney worked at McKinsey and Company as a management consultant of the life and health insurance industry. She served in a variety of management, risk and strategy roles at Transamerica Re, AEGON Group, McKinsey & Company, Swiss Re and Manulife Reinsurance, amassing more than twenty total years of insurance industry experience. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Chartered Financial Analyst. She received a joint honors Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science and Statistics from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
