Mr. Barrios has been the Chief Executive of Aluminium at Rio Tinto Limited and Rio Tinto plc since June 2014. He has been an Executive Vice President of Downstream at Open Joint Stock Company RN Holding since March 21, 2012. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Rio Tinto Alcan Inc., from June 1, 2014 to September 24, 2015. He served as the Chief Executive of Aluminum at Rio Tinto Group since June 1, 2014. He operations in Spain and Portugal, where he was responsible for establishing and developing the Fuels Value Chain organization and leading the repositioning of the businesses. He served as an Executive Vice President of Downstream at Open Joint joined Rio Tinto after a wide-ranging career in leadership positions with BP. Before his role on the Management Board of TNK-BP, he led BP's Stock Company RN Holding since March 21, 2012. He combined this with the roles of BP Head of Country Spain, President of the Spanish National Oil Industry Association (AOP), and Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee of CLH. He joined BP in 1992. He has a strong track record of successfully delivering sustained safety and business performance, large capital intensive projects and international government relations. He has a broad background in BP's downstream operations having had assignments in Trading, Supply, Logistics, Retail, B2B Marketing, Strategy and Planning and Performance Management, working in the United Kingdom, United States, Russia and Continental Europe. He has a broad background in BP's downstream operations, having had assignments in Trading, Supply, Logistics, Retail, B2B Marketing, Strategy and Planning & Performance Management, with roles based in Spain, the United Kingdom, Belgium and the United States. He joined TNK-BP after over 20 years of leadership in BP. He serves as an Executive Director at TNK-BP International Ltd and Rosneft International Holdings Limited. He served as Member of the Board of Directors of Open Joint-Stock Oil and Gas Company Slavneft since June 29, 2012. He served as an Executive Director of Open Joint Stock Company RN Holding since March 21, 2012. Mr. Barrios earned a Ph.D. in Energy Economics from Cambridge University and an M Sc in Management from Stanford University's Sloan program. Mr. Barrios has a first-class degree with honours in Physics from Imperial College, London.
