We applied many UI tweaks and polish, streamlined navigation flow for web and mobile

Oh, and we updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

    FIXED ISSUES

Some call them "bugs" and give them exoticnames like "#91964576". We don't name them as we don't want to get too attached. Instead, we get rid of them pronto. Here are the ones that are no longer bothering us:

Profile Editor: user can get into the booking flow from the edit view of their own topic

Topic URL should pertain only to that teacher

after editing my topic and saving, can no longer edit topics

Profile edit: limit session price to min $10 and max $9999 (or local currency equivalent)

Show correct error messages when input fields are empty or inconsistent

Optimize touch targets for mobile devices

Video uploader accepts non-video file formats

Portrait format mobile video shows up huge on teacher profile

Several fixes for browser compatibility across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE on Web and Mobile.

Video Upload: current video plays while recording a new one

Video auto-play not working on newly created profiles

Learner can skip session length selection and end up booking a 0 minute slot

Profile Edit: Upload video not working inmobileSafari

Booking Flow: Selecting the last slot of the day doesn'ttake session length into consideration

Need to limit file size and max time for uploaded videos

claim your name: missing error message when username is already taken

Chat: right part of text chat window isn't clickable

    Firefox user can't join videosession

Safari layout issues with video session

    Layout tweaksfor IE11 / Edge

    Video uploader reduces audio quality

Reset password allows users to create a password with fewer than 8 characters

Real Name should support international characters and non-latin scripts

Many cross browser mobile and web layout tweaks

    KNOWN ISSUES

Whoa, there are still somefeatures that aren't quite working the way they should. And that's a nice way of saying "we know there are some bugs we haven't completely fixed yet". There, we said it. Most of these have simple workarounds (see below). But, we totally get that they can be prettyannoying, so we're working hard on getting these fixed:

Video chat not working inold versions of Firefox, Safari and Chrome

Update your browser to the latest version to avoid incompatibilities

Switch on your browser's auto-update feature so you always use the latest and greatest.

Video chat: both parties click on the video chat link but both see the waiting screen and aren't getting connected

Make sureyou always use the latest browser version. Sign in to Savvy before your session so we know you are really you.

    Video chat: microphone not working

The other person can't hear you at all while you can hearthem well. Check your audio settings: is your built-in or external microphone connected, unmuted? Does your microphone work in other apps?

    In some cases we

Video chat: in some browsers, temporary slowness of the internet connection can cause echo cancellation to fail.

reload the browser tab or windowthe active video chat is in

use headphones to avoid speaker/mic echo

Video chat: video freezes to a still image for one of the two parties

reload the browser tab or windowthe active video chat is in

Teacher calendar: Google calendar contains the Savvy video link but also adds a Google Hangout video chat link, which can be confusing

That's a user-specific setting in your Google calendar settings: when active, Google calendar will auto-add a Hangout link to every appointment you create. You can either ignore the Google Hangout video link and just click on the Savvy video link inside the appointment, OR switch change your setting in GCal Settings (scroll down)Automatically add videocalls to events I create [x] No. All done.

Chat History: text chats between teacher and learner get lost when reloading the page and when ending the session

We're working on preserving all chat messages. In the future we will offer the option to receive a transcript of chat messages foreach session.

Video upload and processing is slow

We're looking into options fora faster video upload and processing

  • Currently, Savvy is only integrated with Google calendar. Our teachers love how easy it is to manage their schedules in their existing Google calendar.

If you do not have a Google account, you can sign up for one for free here.

If you use an Outlook calendar, you can synch it with Google Calendar in order to use Outlook as your primary calendar system. Here are simple instructions on how to use Google Calendar from within your existing Outlook calendar.

You can also transfer calendar events from a different calendar system (for example iCal) to your Google calendar. Here is an article on how to import events from a different calendar to Google calendar.

We may add more calendars to Savvy in the future. If you have a specific calendar you would like to use, please send us an email at [email protected] and we'll be sure to look into the possibility of integrating it with Savvy.

    Savvy Learner Referral Program

Learners on Savvy enjoy their learning experience and often recommend Savvy to their friends. Were starting a Savvy Learner Referral Program (the program) that rewards active learners (users who take paid Savvy lessons) for bringing new active learners onto the platform. A new active learner is a user who has not previously signed up for Savvy and has not taken a paid lesson on Savvy.

After taking a Savvy lesson select users ("the sender") may receive a referral code which they can share with a friend ("the receiver"). After the receivercompletes a paid session, both the sender and the receiver getone $10 discount code each. These discount codes have no cash value andcan'tbe refunded. Discount codes can be redeemed as discount toward a future booking on Savvy.

There is no limitation to the number of learners a single active user can refer and receive rewards for. Credit is issued in form of discount codes. Multiple referral rewards increase the value of the discount code.

Discount codes are non-transferrable and are treated as Gift Certificates (see rules for redemption, expiration, limitations and policies, risk of loss and fraud in section Gift Certificates below).

Savvy reserves the right to select discount recipients, senders and receivers, to exclude users from receiving or using discount codes and to suspend or terminate the program anytime without notice.

If a booking exceeds the amount of the Gift Certificate, the remaining balance must be paid with a credit card or other available payment method.b. Expiration.Gift Certificates do not expire. • You know teachers who would be awesome at teaching one-on-one on Savvy. It's time to tell them about us!

Belowis a short email template to help you tell teachers about how Savvy works.

    Email Template

    Hi [First Name],

I want to tell you about a new platform I joined to teach learners over live one-on-one video chat! Its called Savvy and it makes it super easy for you to teach learners with its simple scheduling and booking.

As youre an awesome teacher with existing learners, I thought Savvy would be a great platform for you to use to manage all your learners.

You can set up a Savvy profile in a few minutes. On your profile, you can tell learners about topics you teach, your rates, your bio, and even upload a short video so learners get a feel for who you are. You can also add availability to your Savvy profile right from your existing Google calendar. That way, learners can automatically see when you're available and book a lesson with you in a few clicks.

Savvy also handles all payments so you don't have to worry about collecting payments from learners (isn't that great?!). You will automatically receive a payment into your account after each session you teach on Savvy. Right now, as they're a beta product, they're not charging a fee or taking a commission for teaching on Savvy so it's a great time to join.

You can learn more about their features here: https://www.savvy.is/teaching

Let me know if youre interested in joining! They have a teacher referral program so I can let them know that I referred you. :)

The Savvy Team is super helpful so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to them by clicking on the above link and writing your message in their live chat feature.

    Thanks!

  • Savvy connects your browser directly with the other person's browser for your live video learning session. The speed of your (and the other person's) internet connection has a direct impact on the quality of your Savvy session. A fast internet connection willconnect you smoothly, give you crystal clear audio and high-definition video. However, slow internet speed will cause all sorts of connectivity issues, poor video and audio quality.

Here are the top tips for optimizing your internet speed:

Test your internet speedFind out how fast or slow your connection is and how your bandwidth compares to others. Try sites like http://speedtest.net or http://fast.com Note that your speed might fluctuate - you may have a fast connection at times but experience temporary slowness. Test your connection speeds frequently, especially when you experience slowness.A fastdownload speed (2MB/s or more) means that you will be able to receive data fast enough to see and hear the other side with high quality video and audio. Fast upload speed (2MB/s or more) means that you can broadcast video and audio data fast enough so that the other side can hear and see you with no delay and with high quality. If your or the other user's internet speeds are slow you will experience a reduction in video quality on one or both ends and potentiallyaudio delays or echoing. Very slow connection speeds lead to loss of video or audio (as described here ).Read on to find out how you can improve your internet speed:

Getclose to your routerThe closer you are to your wifi router, the faster the signal will be. Wifi has trouble passing through walls and doors, this will slow you down.

Find a good spot for your routerFor the best signal, your router should be out in the open free from obstructions and walls. Ideally somewhere near the center of the house.

Restart your routerRouters are just like mini computers, and like computers they can sometimes get themselves in a tizzy and need to be restarted for better performance.

Check other devices on your networkIs your housemate currently binge watching every episode of GoT at the same time? If so ask him to stop as you're trying to expand your mind rather than finding out if Jon Snow has died or not, personally I've never watched the show but my guess is they kill him off then bring him back in a dream. Or was that JR?

Any other applications using your networkShut down any other internet enabled apps that you don't need to free up internet bandwidth. If in doubt, try closing down and restarting your browser or (better yet) shut down your machine and reboot (yes, I know!).

Install a wifi repeateror powerline adapter. Those will extend the range of your wifi signal. However, whilethese range extendersboost your wireless signal they relay data to your router which can sometimes actually slow down your connection speed. It's always better to be close to your router or to follow this advice:

Use Ethernet cable instead of wifiTry plugging your computer directly into the router. I see you rolling your eyes: a cable! Trust me, this eliminates all possibility of wifi interference. If the cable connection gives you significant faster internet speed it might be time for a faster wifi router and for placing it in a way to give you a strong wifi signal where you use your computer the most.

Change wireless channelsWireless routers transmit on a channel, if your neighbours devices are all transmitting on this channel it will lead to a slow down of your wifi. Most routers allow you to change the channel to decrease the congestion. See http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/21132/change-your-wi-fi-router-channel-to-optimize-your-wireless-signal/ for a general guide

Check with your internet providerContact your service provider to report slowness and to find out which speeds you should expect based on the plan you are on. In many cases they can upgrade you to higher speeds where available.

Check your hardwareAfter optimizing your internet speed with the ten suggestions above you'll have to take a look at the hardware you are using since that might be limiting you: is your desktop, laptop or mobile device fast enough to handle audio and video streams efficiently? It is always a good idea to close all programs you don't need before a video session. The most effective way is to reboot your device frequently or prior to a call. This will give you the best performance your hardware is capable of.

  • Savvy connects your browser directly with the other person'sbrowser. Here is what you can do if youcan't hear or see the other person or if they can't hear or see you:

Restart your browserIt is possible that your audio or video is blocked by an app that is open in another browser tab. Shut down your browser, restart, and click on the Savvy video link to join your session again. This resolves most issues.

Ask the other person to restart their browserChances are that the other person's browser or computer is causing the issue. Use the chat window to ask them to close and restart their browser and to join the session again by clicking on the Savvy video link after restarting.

Close other appsPrograms like Skype may hold on to your microphone or audio devices so your browser can't access them. Close all programs you don't need before joining your Savvy session.

Restart your computerYes, that's a big ask. But sometimes it is necessary. And it resolves 99% of all "can't hear you / can't see you" problems.

Ask the other person to restart their computerTurning their computer off entirely and starting it again will make sure that no other programs are blocking their video or audio.

If none of these resolve your issue and you still have trouble with getting a proper video or audio connection, here are some bonus tips:

Check internet speedYour or the other person's internet speed may be too slow to send or receive video or audio data. Make sure that both yourinternet connections arestable and fast enough. HERE are some valuable tips for testing and optimizing your internet speed (remember that it could be the other side that's slow and causing the issue).

Check HardwareMake sure your microphone is unmuted, your local volume is up, external webcams or microphones are properly connected and plugged in. Unplug headphones, check your volume settings again.

Troubleshoot AudioIf you can't hear the other side of they can't hear you, check out the audio indicators under your and the other person's video while you are in the session: make sure that both sides make some noise and check out the thin colored bars:LOCAL Audio: When you speak, you should see a colored audio indicator under your video in the lower left corner. If you don't see the indicator moving while you speak, then your system is the reason why the other side can't hear you. Check allsuggestions above (e.g. restart your browser or reboot your computer) to fix the problem on your end.REMOTE Audio:When the person on the other side speaks you should see a colored audio indicator under their video (shown as a thin line on the bottom of your browser window, underneath the big video). If you don't see the indicator moving while the other person speaks, then their system is causing the issue. Ask them to follow steps 1 - 5 above, particularly to restart their browser or reboot their computer to fix the problem on their end.

After a great Private Beta we just released a new Savvy version. And, tomake it extra, extra special wecall ita "PUBLICBeta" because that's what the cool kids use these days. You are likely one of them - why else would you be reading our Release Notes? We're not going to quote Urban Dictionary's definition of "Beta" here but instead tell you about the awesomeness we just added to Savvy: From "a" like "automated timezone setting"to "z" like - uhm - Gift Cardz:)

NEW FEATURESWe've received a lot of amazing feedback from our teachers and learners about the Private Beta. They loved all the new features and improved stability in our Private Beta. And because they love us as much as we love them, they gave us the gift of many, many more awesome requirements. We've worked tirelessly, bribed our office squirrels to work overtime and fed our engineers with energy drinks and pie to make the magic happen. Here's a list of all the awesomeness we've just released in the Savvy Public Beta:

New Homepage Makes It Easy To Discover Savvy Teachers

The all new Savvy homepage now allows interested teachers to join easily and helps interested teachers connect with the best teachers:

Home is where the heart is. Weredesigned our online home for Public Beta to make it look much nicer and to give visitorsa better idea of what the Savvy experience is like for teachers and their learners. We make it super easy for interested teachers to sign up for our Beta - oh, and we send them a super nice welcome email. Love, Team Savvy

Teachers can sign up directly from the Savvy homepage by clicking "Teach" and "Get started"

Learners can now find the best teacher for the topics they are interested in. Our new browse feature allows discovery by categories and based on specific requirements like expertise level, style

Learners can find teachers based on their preferred session time (matching teacher availability)

We have an updated logo and our new homepage usesan updated color scheme and visual design

User Messaging, Savvy Teacher Page and Profile CreationSavvy teachers now get guidance onsetting up their own Savvy pages, upload and edit their video and photo and updatetheir teacher profile:

Messaging: interested or current learners can now easily message teachers right from their Savvy page. The communication protects the learner's and teacher's privacy.

Teacher Profile: pages now look awesome when shared on Facebook and Twitter

Topic Pages: Now every topic you teach is clickable on your Savvy page and has its own landing page. For easy sharing and for targeted outreach, especially for teachers who offer a range of different topics

Free Sessions: We can now addressspecial requests to set certain topics to a $0 price - e.g. for free introduction sessions teachers want to offer.

In-person teaching: we now allow teachers to mark whether they teach a session online via live video or in person (incl. address and map details included in the reminder emails to the learner)

Teacher Profile: to make their Savvy page look more beautiful and attractive to learners: when teachers don't yet have a video uploaded their Savvy page now shows a larger version of their profile picture as a nicer placeholder

Profile Creation Wizard: the updated savvy.is/teaching wizard guides new users to creating their Savvy page and connecting their calendar in under 4 minutes.

Teacher Profile: we've improved the image and video uploader

Teacher profiles: you can now copy text from the page to paste it somewhere else, e.g. for copying topic text

    Real-time Calendar Updates

We love when things are fast. We just made calendar synchronization so fast we call it "real time". When you mark a slot as available on your Google Calendar or edit an existing slot it nowtakes no more than a few seconds to reflectyour new availability on your Savvy Page. So use that shiny smart device of yours to touch and tap and flick around your calendar so your learners see instantly when they can book time with you. Sweet.

    User Dashboard

In the Private Beta weadded a new control panel and we made it smarter in our latest version:

Dashboard improvements: teachers can see past and upcoming sessions and manage their learners easily. Learners can see their teachers, past and upcoming sessions, details of their goals, and easy access to rebook a session for a weekly occurrence.

Easy Booking and Rebooking for Weekly Sessions

Rebook: it is now possible to book weekly sessions with a teacher with just one click. For a series of sessions the learner only pays for the first session at booking time and gets notified and charged for future sessions 48 hours prior to the respective start time.

Booking: learners can now book sessions 12 weeks into the future, based on the teacher's availability

Booking: learners can easily explore a teacher's availability bynavigatingto next and previous weeks

Booking page now has a progress indicator so the learner gets a visual feedback while the payment is processed.

Booking confirmation: we now separate email threads for every booking confirmation email (before they all got clustered by Gmail into one thread, regardless of the learner). This makes learner management easier.

Booking flow: clicking on the teacher image now takes the learner back to the profile page for easy navigation

Booking buffer: by default teachers can be booked for sessions that are at least 12 hours in the future. We can reduce this buffer to 1 hour for each teacher individually upon request

Booking a free sessions now doesn't require the learner to add a credit card anymore

Cancel Session: we added afeature to allow teacher and learner to cancel sessions easily when needed. For now cancellations are email based. We're working on an integrated solution. Our Cancellation Policy is here, btw. Thanks for asking.

    Gift Cards and Discounts

Gift Cards: anyone can now gift a Savvy session by purchasing a gift card right from the teacher's Savvy page. Teacher and Buyer receive confirmation emails. Gift cards can be downloaded, printed, or sent directly to the recipient.

Discount Codes / Coupons: we can generate coupons / discount codes as per a teacher's request for a fixed amount off (e.g. $20 off for one session) or a percentage off (e.g. 50% off your next booking). Coupons can be configured to be limited to a specific learner, a specific teacher, for a specific timeframe and with an expiration date or maximal number of uses. Discount codes can also be applied for rebooking / booking a series of sessions.

    Video Session Improvements

Video Session: created browser-specific guides to get ready for a video session. Providing better guidance for Safari plug-in installation.

Video Chat: learner and teacher now see an on-screen reminder 5 minutes before their session ends and non-dismissable on-screen message when they are past their booked session time (helping teachers to stay within the scheduled time)

Video chat: detecting connectivity problems, audio and video issues, manage poor video and audio quality and guide userson fixing those

Video chat: the text chat is now smarter: it recognizes web links and you can minimize it to move it out of the waywhen it's not needed.

Video Session: user can close the session from a link in the header

Session goals show in the top bar of the video session and can be updated by the teacher and learner

    Usability Improvements

Automatictimezone setting: teachers and learners get their time zones set automatically. Session times always show in local time in the user interface and in all confirmation and notification emails

The Savvy navigation bar now shows details of the user when signed in and makes it easy to access profile management, account settings and the learner / teacher dashboard.

    Security and Payment

Reset Password: we made it even easier and safer for all users to reset a forgotten password

Booking and Payment: we now show more detailed messages when something goes wrong while processing a learner's card

    Technical Improvement

Many (many!) technical improvements "under the hood" to make our platform faster and even more robust in all popular web and mobile browsers.

We moved our tech to a highly scalable framework that keeps pace with our rapid feature development and user growth while keeping the app very responsive and easy to use.

Oh, and we updated our with the rules for the new gift card / discount code feature and including details about our secure payment provider.

    FIXED ISSUES

Some call them "bugs" and give them exoticnames like "#91964576". We don't name them as we don't want to get too attached. Instead, we get rid of them pronto. Here are the ones that are no longer bothering us:

    KNOWN ISSUES

Whoa, there are still somefeatures that aren't quite working the way they should. And that's a nice way of saying "we know there are some bugs we haven't completely fixed yet". There, we said it. Most of these have simple workarounds (see below). But, we totally get that they can be prettyannoying, so we're working hard on getting these fixed:

Video chat not working inold versions of Firefox, Safari and Chrome

Update your browser to the latest version to avoid incompatibilities

Switch on your browser's auto-update feature so you always use the latest and greatest.

    Video chat: microphone not working

The other person can't hear you at all while you can hearthem well. Check your audio settings: is your built-in or external microphone connected, unmuted? Does your microphone work in other apps?

In some cases restarting your computer may be necessary to unlock your microphone and webcam.

You can either ignore the Google Hangout video link and just click on the Savvy video link inside the appointment, OR switch change your settingin GCal Settings (scroll down)Automatically add videocalls to events I create [x] No. All done.

Chat History: text chats between teacher and learner get lost when reloading the page and when ending the session

We're working on preserving all chat messages. In the future we will offer the option to receive a transcript of chat messages foreach session.

Video upload and processing is slow

We're looking into options fora faster video upload and processing

  • Savvy Alpha - July 28, 2015

Doesn't alphasound pretty cool: alpha particle, alpha dog, alphabet, alfalfa. We learned so much from our early users that we did a little happy danceandthen squeezed many new, cool, important features into one impressive release. Here is the list, from "a" like auto-play to "z" like - uhm - time zone:

    NEW FEATURES

    Auto-play video in profiles

Sign in to Savvy:We keep you secure. You can now sign in to your profile or manage your account settings by signing in to your Savvy account with your email and password

User remains signed in for 90 days: no need to sign in to your Savvy account for a while once you are authenticated. That makes accessing your account or joining a video session a one-click action. Sweet!

For improved security, we request users tore-authenticate with their passwordwhen they try tochange sensitive account settings such as payment and payout details

Password Reset feature: happens to all of us. You can totally recall the password you used for your hotmail account 5 years ago, but you just can't get back into Savvy. Sucks. When you are done trying, justrequest a new one by clicking "Forgot password". And, voil - a reset link gets delivered to your email inbox.

Create and edit topics for your teacher profile

Format options for topic text: bullets help structure topic descriptions

Teachers can link their Google Calendar to their Savvy profile

Booked sessions show as "BOOKED" in teacher's Google Calendar and contain name of the learner, session goal, video link

Pre-select 25 min and 55 min slots as default

Record profile video: right from your browser. Are you ready for your closeup?

Upload profile video: publishyour favorite intro-video to your Savvy profile, right from your smartphone or Mac/PC.

View as Learner: see what your learners see when they view your Savvy profile. Amazing.

For Learners: ability to securely enter and change payment method

For Teachers: ability to securely enter and change payout method

Switch to automatic secure payment processing: we are using Stripe to handle all payments in a certified secure, fast and automated way.

Session price setting: $10 - $9999 (or equivalent in international currency)

Detect valid bank routing and account numbers

Chat auto-expands when the other party sends a message

Chat turns web addresses into clickable links automatically: pretty useful when exchanging web addresses and links to shared docs during a Savvy learning session

Users can disconnect from video chat by clicking the "hang up" icon: even the best sessions have to come to an end. But there is always the next session to look forward to.

Sessions shouldn't be booked less than 12 hours ahead of time: adding a buffer to avoid unexpected last-second bookings and to give both sides enough time to prepare for their session.

Send email confirmation to teacherand learner for booked session

Send email reminder to teacherand learner 15 minutes before session start

Send email to teacherand learneronce session is completed

Video chat: graceful handling of low-bandwidth situation

Session-specific video rooms: only the signed-in teacher and learner can enter the Savvy video session.

Make Session Goal editable: at the beginning of each session, teacher and learner can see the session goal. A click allows toedit and save the revised goal

We updated ourTerms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cancellation Policy pages and linked them to savvy.is

International time zone support: oh man, we are all so international. When a teacher connects with a learner in a different part of the planet, we take care of showing them the right times in their local time zone - automagically - in booking, calendar and all email communication, notifications and reminders.

    FIXED ISSUES

Some call them "bugs" and give them exoticnames like "#91964576". We don't name them as we don't want to get too attached. Instead, we get rid of them pronto. Here are the ones that are no longer bothering us:

Scheduling: takes session length into consideration

Scheduling: last half hour of availability isn't showing

Video upload: limit file size and type

Video upload and creation has to be supportedon mobile devices

Newly connected calendar not populating Savvy availability

User can skip session length selection and end up booking a 0 min slot

Edit profile: newly uploaded image not showing

Profile video should pause when user starts to edit their title

Security: disablebrowser feature to auto-fill password to prevent unauthorized edits

Changing user name not updating instantly

Account setup: eMail should check for correct format

Various layout issues on Safari for desktop and iOS

Video upload: current video plays while uploading or recording

Mobile video recording: portrait format videos turn out too large on profile page

Mobile web: touch targets are too small to hit easily on mobile devices

Account Settings and Profile Management: input validation for all fields and meaningful user guidancewhen fields are empty

Uploaded Profile images get squished (should be cropped)

Profile picture upload should verify file formats

Switching from "View as Learner" back to Teacher view should automatically switch back into edit mode

Multiple browser support: harmonize layout and features across majormobile and web browsers on all popular devices

Teacher calendar: entries include learner name in title and body, session length and link to video

Available times show out of sequence

times that have already passed show as available on Savvy

Make video chat responsive for Android Chrome

Disable "save as" for profile videos

Video chat link in Google calendar contained zero width unicode character which isn't visible but changes the web address, resulting in learner and teacher missing each other if the learner copies and pastes that address into the browser bar

Need a waiting screen for video room whileuser waits for the other user to join

Claim your name:when using an email address that was already used to claim a Savvy user name, the error message says "user name already taken"

Scheduling: Savvy shows available times earlier than the current time

Timezone support: times in email should be converted touser's preferred timezone

Improve layout for small screens: we hate squinting and we have fat fingers, too.

    KNOWN ISSUES

Whoa, there are still somefeatures that aren't quite working the way they should. And that's a nice way of saying "we know there are some bugs we haven't completely fixed yet". There, we said it. Most of these have simple workarounds (see below). But, we totally get that they can be superannoying, so we're working hard on getting these fixed:

Video chat: in some browsers, temporary slowness of the internet connection can cause echo cancellation to fail.

reload the browser tab or windowthe active video chat is in

use headphones to avoid speaker/mic echo

Video chat: video freezes to a still image for one of the two parties

reload the browser tab or windowthe active video chat is in

Video chat: both parties click on the video chat link but both see the waiting screen and aren't getting connected

Upgrade your browser to the latest version

    Video chat: microphone not working

The other person can't hear you at all while you can hearthem well. Check your audio settings: is your built-in or external microphone connected, unmuted? Does your microphone work in other apps?

    In some cases we

Teacher calendar: Google calendar contains the Savvy video link but also adds a Google Hangout video chat link, which can be confusing

That's a user-specific setting in your Google calendar settings: when active, Google calendar will auto-add a Hangout link to every appointment you create. You can either ignore the Google Hangout video link and just click on the Savvy video link inside the appointment, OR switch change your setting in GCal Settings (scroll down)Automatically add videocalls to events I create [x] No. All done.

Video chat not working inold versions of Firefox, Safari and Chrome

Update your browser to the latest version to avoid incompatibilities

Switch on your browser's auto-update feature so you always use the latest and greatest.

Chat History: text chats between teacher and learner get lost when reloading the page and when ending the session

We're working on preserving all chat messages. In the future we will offer the option to receive a transcript of chat messages foreach session.

Video upload and processing is slow

We're looking into options fora faster video upload and processing

  • Savvy Service Fees and Pricing

Savvy provides Learners and Teachers with the worlds most effective and inspiring platform for 1:1 learning. We do not charge any subscription or membership fees.

To ensure great service and the operation of the site including matching, scheduling, payments, video sessions and reviews, we may charge a session fee from the teacher as a percentage of the total session price as set by the teacher.

    For Learners

There are no fees for Learners: When you book a session with your Savvy teacher, you pay the price you see on Savvy, which is the exact same price your teacher set for the session. Its that simple.

Find more details under Learner Fee Terms in our Terms of Service.

    For Teachers

You set your own price for the sessions you offer. Savvy may take a percentage of the total session price for each session you teach. When your Learner books a session, we charge the full session price. 24 hours after the successful completion of the session we release the funds to you (less the service fees and potential taxes).

Find more details under Teacher Fee Terms in our Terms of Service.

How is the Session Price Defined?

Teachers set the prices for sessions they teach thats what learners pay when they book sessions on Savvy.

We may take a service fee from the teacher, as described above.

How much is the service fee?

We are so excited to have you on board as early Savvy user. Your comments and feedback help us improve the service and evolve Savvy into the amazing experience you expect as Teacher and Learner. Since some features may still be a little rough around the edges in these early days, we are not charging a service fee at this time. Cool, right?

Once we move out of our early product phase, we will have to start charging a very competitive fee to cover our costs and to build the features you and other members of our community love. Well let you know before we reach that stage.
