  • Staff: You get to spend your day in meetings or hide in your cube, low responsibilities, come in at 10, a full hour for lunch, leave by 5, full benefits, lots of vacation, six months maternity, good severance. Freelance: Long hours, eat at your desk, job is always on the line, no vacation, no benefits, two weeks severance if you're lucky.

  • In my experience, they happened frequently and without notice. In 2016, they laid off an entire division. Layoff also occur because Scholastic continues to be a cult of personality; if you do not get along with your superiors, expect to be cut. Not a great company culture.
