Mr. Daniel Harris Meyer, also known as Danny, is the Founder and Co-Owner of Union Square Hospitality Group, LLC and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Meyer has particular knowledge and experience in strategic planning and leadership of complex organizations, retail businesses and board practices of other major corporations. Mr. Meyer served as President of Union Square Hospitality Group LLC since 1996. He created and launched Union Square Cafe in October 1985, where he helped pioneer an exciting new breed of restaurant, pairing excellent food and wine with warm hospitality and outstanding value. He co-opened Gramercy Tavern in July 1994. In 1998, he opened two more restaurants - Eleven Madison Park and Tabla. He has been Chairman of Shake Shack Inc. since September 23, 2014 and its founder. He has been Chairman of SSE Holdings since January 2010. Mr. Meyer has been a Director of Mobo Systems, Inc. since February 18, 2015. Mr. Meyer serves as a Director of City Harvest, Irving Harris Foundation and New Yorkers for Parks. He serves as Director of Share Our Strength, Inc. He has been a Director of TYP Restaurant Group, Inc. since July 2015. He has been a Director of OpenTable, Inc. since February 2000. He serves as Director of Share Our Strength, Inc. He serves as a Board Member of Madison Square Park Conservancy, Union Square Partnership and NYC & Co. He served as a Director of The Container Store Group, Inc. from September 2013 to September 12, 2017 and served as its Lead Director until September 12, 2017. Mr. Meyer served as a Director of NYC & Company, Inc. He served as a Director of Sotheby's from May 1, 2011 to May 7, 2015. He served as a Director of NYC2012, Inc. He co-authored the best-selling Union Square Cafe Cookbook and authored the New York Times bestseller Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business. His honors are the 1996 James Beard Humanitarian of the Year Award and the IACP Restaurateur Award of Excellence. Mr. Meyer holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science from Trinity College.
