Company culture was well understood by all people when the company was small. Recently though the company culture has degraded to a point that any blog posts, marketing material, or talk tracks founders use to explain how good of a place Signal Sciences is to work are not based on reality.
What do you like best about your company?
Amazing product, relatively high compensation comparatively
What did you like most about the interview process?
Interview process was as mature as expected at that level of growth
What would you most like to see improved at your company?
Middle management is atrocious across departments. Political feuding and snark inhibit more and more velocity as the layers of "leadership" are introduced.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Market rates for security professionals increase disproportionately compared to other positions. The Signal Sciences culture and team is the primary reason for joining and staying.
What do you like best about the leadership team?
Intimate knowledge of the problem space. The team has been able to execute on a vision which smaller companies cannot compete with and bigger competitors are anxious about.
What are some of the best things about your team?
Our team consists of deeply interesting and very experienced people. We are able to clearly communicate what problem we are trying to solve and work collaboratively to reach a shared goal.
What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
Our passion for empathy in all that we do. From customer interactions to cross team collaboration we help each other to remain cognizant of different view points and work hard to communicate efficiently.
What makes you most happy at work?
The problem space Signal Sciences is working to address has been lacking a visionary product for a decade or more. It's exciting to be helping customers and altering their expectations of what a security product should be.
