Mr. Derek R. Jones has been President of Cash & Carry Smart Foodservice Division of Smart & Final Stores, Inc. since April 11, 2017. Mr. Jones is Principal and Business Advisor for Future Development Group, LLC, an organization aiming to provide places of learning, support and resources to students. He served as the President of Wholesale and Distribution Operations and Executive Vice President at SpartanNash Company (formerly Spartan Stores Inc.) since March 1, 2015 until March 17, 2017 and served as its Executive Vice President of Food Distribution from November 2003 until March 01, 2015. Mr. Jones joined Spartan Stores in September 2006 and directs the activities of Spartan's wholesale and supply chain team including warehousing, transportation, new business development, replenishment, customer service and customer development. He served as an Executive Vice President of Retail Operations at Spartan Stores Inc. since January 6, 2013. He served an Executive Vice President of Wholesale Operations at Spartan Stores Inc., from June 2009 to January 6, 2013 and served as its Executive Vice President of Supply Chain from August 18, 2006 to June 2009. Mr. Jones served as Vice President of Distribution for Spartan Stores Inc. He led the achievement of significant distribution network productivity improvements and lower network operating costs. From July 2000 to March 2004, he served as Regional Vice President of Supply Chain Operations for Office Depot, Inc. From March 2004 to August 2006, Mr. Jones served as Vice President of Distribution for Unisource Worldwide, Inc. He served various senior-level operations management, supply chain operations and distribution center positions with Walgreen Company. Previously, he served on the Board of Directors for the National Grocers Association and on the Board of Directors for Heart of West Michigan United Way. He is graduate of the University of Arkansas.
