Mr. Richard N. Phegley has been the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Smart & Final Stores, Inc. and Smart & Final, Inc. since May 2001. Mr. Phegley serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Smart & Final Stores and American Foodservice Distributors. In May 1999, Mr. Ohegley appointed as Smart & Final Inc.'s Vice President and Treasurer and that of American Foodservice Distributors, a subsidiary of Smart & Final Inc. and serves as Senior Vice President, Finance of Smart & Final Foodservice and Henry Lee, both are subsidiaries of Smart & Final Inc. and also Treasurer of American Foodservice Distributors and Treasurer of Smart & Final Foodservice a subsidiaries of Smart & Final Inc. He served as Vice President and Treasurer of Smart & Final Stores, a subsidiary of Smart & Final Inc. in 1996. Mr. Phegley joined Smart & Final Inc. after 17 years with Atlantic Richfield Company, now a subsidiary of BP Amoco PLC., where he served in senior treasury, strategic planning and financial management positions. Mr. Phegley is an associate member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is a graduate of Humboldt State University.
