Executive Bio

Dr. Tony Briningstool leads Sound Physicians’ Emergency Medicine specialty. An experienced physician leader, Dr. Briningstool is focused on the relentless pursuit of clinical excellence and better patient care within Sound’s emergency medicine practice. He believes in investing in the wellness of his teams, building strong engagement, and creating a cohesive patient-first culture, while also maintaining practice sustainability and empowering leaders who can elevate patient processes and care. A board-certified emergency medicine physician, Dr. Briningstool earned his Doctor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and has earned fellowships in both sports medicine and healthcare leadership. A longtime leader in the acute care space, Dr. Briningstool helped lead American Physicians Partners, where he served as senior vice president and chief medical officer for more than a decade achieving industry-leading metrics in clinical quality. Through a collaborative and integrated approach, he believes we can bring better to the bedside for our patients and foster an environment of care that allows our clinical teams to thrive.
