Stack Overflow Compensation Employee Reviews

What is the best part about your compensation package?

Outside of the pay, I appreciate all the smaller pieces of our package, for example the home office setup budget and Calm subscription

Review from Engineering Dept · Posted 3 days ago

The fully sponsored benefits package is best in class.

Review from Sales Dept

pension, stock options, bonuses, medical care, educational expense reimbursement

Review from Engineering Dept

The money is fair, but my favourite part is the vacation schedule. There are a number of company days off, we get some extra afternoons in the summer, and extra time between Christmas and New Years on top of our regular vacation days.

Review from Engineering Dept

The pay, with the wifi stiped and gym contributions

Review from Engineering Dept

insurance 100% paid by the company

Review from Engineering Dept

Benefits by far are the best!

Review from HR Dept

It is very competitive, and free!

Review from HR Dept

They are the best I've had of all previous employers! Free healthcare, an employer funded HRA, retirement, and of course the sabbatical.

100% benefits are provided - no out of pocket expense. Amazing benefits.

Review from HR Dept

overall perceive to be above market

Review from HR Dept

Great medical plan and competitive salary.

Review from HR Dept

The flexibility of my work schedule

Review from HR Dept

Great health coverage, 100% vested 401k match, good education and training programs.

Review from Operations Dept

Fantastic salary and benefits given

Review from Engineering Dept

The health insurance is the best I've seen. 100% coverage with no out-of-pocket expenses.

Review from Engineering Dept

Equity and 401k are very generous

Review from Engineering Dept

Health insurance is completely paid for by the company.

Review from Sales Dept

HRA which means we dont have to pay medical copays

Review from Sales Dept

The health benefits are amazing. I've never had to pay out of pocket for my health expenses. Free virtual therapy.

Review from Sales Dept

Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?

More compensation would make me feel better about my compensation. I regularly get offered positions with significantly higher pay.

Pay should be higher like how it is at other tech companies.

Review from Customer Success Dept

Base salary is not in line with the industry. Had to take a substantial pay cut in salary to work at SO. There's no room to increase salary even when you're exceeding your goals.

Review from Sales Dept

From a salary perspective, I am underpaid by about 25%, but the benefits make up a partial difference. Not many companies can match our benefits. This is also an FYI as I'm too lazy to look for another job.

Review from Customer Support Dept

My commission plan is wrong, has been for 9 months. I'm excluded from bonuses whereas my colleagues on the same team are eligible. My scope of work is not known / understood by my manager.

Review from Customer Success Dept

No pay rise in almost 3 years, even though I have assumed more responsibility and overachieved during a time of uncertainty.

Review from Sales Dept

I would feel better if I were making the same amount as my male counterparts with the same title and responsibilities as me.

Review from Customer Success Dept

There is a great divide in compensation. As a company, we are in the middle. Part of me wonders if I should go elsewhere to make more money, but I really enjoy our company so it's difficult. I'm also in a situation where I've been doing more than my job title for a number of years.

I don't expect compensation to be FAANG good but we should meet in the middle as far as bonuses and other comp.

Review from Engineering Dept

Relative to other tech companies, I think our base compensation is slightly below average, and our stock option/bonus compensation is way below average.

Review from Engineering Dept

Employees were given minimal stock options, and there is no clear review process for a raise or title change. How do I get a raise? How am I doing now? What should I do to be deserving of a raise?

if I was paid the market rate

Review from Engineering Dept

I think that my compensation is not equal to what it should be, as other companies are paying much hire for the position that I am in.

Review from Customer Support Dept

I have direct reports that make more money than me.
