View ArticleWhether it's your first time swimming with the Pebble or you are swimming in a pool with a different course, you'll need to set the course length using the Swim.com mobile app prior to starting your workout as workouts cannot retroactively be converted to a different length or unit of measurementafter you have completed them.
To change yourcourse, please follow the instructions below:
1) Make sure your Pebble and mobile device are connected via Bluetooth2) Open the Swim.com app on both your Pebble and mobile device3) On the Swim.com app, select the devices icon in the upper right corner of the screen4) Under the Device Type section, select Pebble. It should show your device as connected and the version number.5) Under the pool size section, you can change the pool size using the selector tool.6) You should see an immediate change on your Pebble to the new pool size.
View ArticleVersion 2.1 includes an option where you can send workout plans directly to your watch so that you can follow along in the pool.
Youll want to start with the workouts tab on your mobile app.
The workouts tab allows you to select workouts from Swim.coms library or create your own. In order to get those workouts to your watch, you must start by adding the workouts to your favorites list.
To add a workout to your favorites, find one that suits your needs and select it. Then, touch the ellipses in the upper right corner.
You can favorite as many workouts on the mobile app as you would like, but you can only have up to three stored on the watch at one time. To remove the workout from your watch you would need to un-favorite it from the mobile app, following the same steps as above.
Now that you have favorite workouts loaded into your mobile app, youre ready to swim!
For Apple Watch users, on the app start screen, touch Select Workout. Find the workout you want on the screen by swiping from right to left and then hit the blue Select button. If you do not want to swim the workout, select the red No Workout button. After selecting the workout, it will display on the start screen and you can now start your workout.
To access the workout plan, you will need to swipe from right to left to expose it.
To view the prescribed intervals, use the digital crown button on the side of the watch to scroll down. The first screen you see will show the entire warmup set in smaller text. As you scroll down you will see that set broken into different sections, if applicable, and those will be shown in larger text.
This continues on through the main sets and cool down. Many beginner workouts will not contain multiple sections within a warm-up, main set, or cool down and may appear on the watch workout sequence to be duplicates. This is not actually the case, again, its just that several of the beginner workouts do not have multiple sections within a set.
During a rest period, you can always swipe over to this screen if you need a reminder of what you are supposed to be doing for your next interval. Here is how this particular example workout progresses.
When you are done swimming, end the workout like normal by force touching the screen. Below you can see the results of this swimmer that swam this example workout.
At this time, these workout prescriptions are available to view during rest periods as a reference and are not setup to automatically prompt you with the information during the workout. You must manually go to view the information.

View ArticleThis is a great question!
The reason Swim.comdoes not have calorie tracking is that calories burned are extremely difficult to estimate for each individual person and it is only with an accurate heart rate monitor combined in calculation with individual body statistics (height, weight, gender, age, BMI, etc) that you would get a fairly accurate statistic.
Many of the swim tracking devices that come with a heart rate monitor, such as the Garmin Fenix or Forerunner series, are sold with a chest strap that transmits on Bluetooth frequencies that do not work in water. Many wrist-based HR watches have also turned off HR monitoring while doing a lap swim workout because the water can greatly obscure the measurement taken by the optical hardware. There are a few devices out there that will take HR while swimming, such as the Swimovate Poolmate HR, which has a chest strap that transmits on a 122KHz frequency. Garmin also has a HRM-SWIM strap that stores HR data inside the unit and then syncs it to your workout later. These devices, however, are currently niche products and combine for a very small share of the lap swim tracking device market. For this reason, our small development team has decided not to pursue adding data from these devices at this time.
One thing we have done though, is added heart rate support for the Apple Watch only. We were able to do this because Apple did not disable the HR data collection in lap swim recording and because you do not need an additional device, such as a strap, to record this data. One thing to note is that we have come to find through many rounds of development processes that this HR data is more of a ballpark figure and not extremely accurate, and therefore will likely not produce accurate calorie expenditure data.
In short, becauseof the current market conditions, inaccuracies in data, difficulties involved with the data collection, and because it is not a metric that enhances the friendly competition aspect of our product (leaderboard), we have not yet incorporated calorie data into Swim.com.

View ArticleThe Swim.com app on Wear OS (formerly Android Wear) prior to version 2.0 used Theater Mode to not only lock the screen and prevent inputs that would accidentally end the workout, but also to maintain the flow of accelerometer data to the app. While initially developing our app, testing determined that false inputs created by the water touching the screen actually interrupted the accelerometer data that Swim.com uses to recognize swimming, resulting in the algorithms failing. For these reasons, we require users with Wear OS (formerly Android Wear)1.X versions to enter Theater Mode by double-pressing the hardware button on their watch before the swimming algorithms start.
In Wear OS 2.0 (formerly Android Wear), Google has removed the ability for users to enter Theater Mode using the hardware button, meaning they need to be out of the Swim.com app to use it andcan'tuse the Swim.com app while in Theater Mode, nor Theater Mode while in the Swim.com app. More testing is still needed to determine whether Google has addressed the issues with water interacting with the screen disrupting the accelerometer data, though we have just recently gotten access to devices running Wear OS 2.0 (formerly Android Wear)so theres still of work to be done.
In short, Swim.com is currently not functioning for those users running Wear OS 2.0 (formerly Android Wear) due to Google removing the ability to enter theater mode via the hardware button and we are currently working on trying to find a solution for this.
View ArticleCurrently, Swim.com will load and record workouts on any Pebble 2 device. However, there is a bug within the Data Logging process in Pebble 2's firmware that is preventing the sync process from initiation and completion. This bug is only affecting Pebble 2 and not the Classic or Time devices. There is currently no date of when the fix will be released.
View Article*****As of Sept. 1, 2016, we have been receiving several reports of Pebble users being unable to sync workouts to Swim.com after updating to Pebble firmware 4.0. We are in the process of investigating this issue but do not have any updates or fixes to report at this time. We are trying to identify the cause at this time. When we have some information, we will be sure to communicate this through our support webpage at support.swim.com on the Announcements, Updates, and Known Issues tab. If you are going to update to Pebble 4.0, we recommend that you sync any Swim.com files from your Pebble to Swim.com before updating to the new firmware.******
UPDATE SEPT. 8, 2016 We have identified this issue and it is only affecting iOS users who updated to Pebble firmware 4.0. Testing of an updated iOS mobile app is ongoing and hopefully we will be able to release an update to the app in a couple of days.If you had any workouts that were stored on the Pebble DataLogging library (Pebble's internal memory) and had yet to be synced to Swim.com and updated to Pebble 4.0 before syncing it, there's a high probability that those workouts will be unrecoverable as updating to new firmware erases the DataLogging library. We apologize if you will lose workouts because of this. Any workouts you have generated after updating to Pebble 4.0 will remain on your Pebble's DataLogging library, which can hold multiple workout files. We advise not attempting to sync until we can release the new iOS mobile app with the fix. Once that happens you should be able to transfer all those files at once.
UPDATE SEPT 15, 2016Please update your Pebble Time iOS app and Pebble Time device to firmware versions 4.1! The bug fix for the sync issue has been included in this update!
View ArticleYour Swim.com for Pebble version should be 2.2 and your Pebble Time firmware should be 3.12. Please ensure this is the case and update if necessary. Also, it could be helpful to update your mobile Swim.com app throughGoogle Play or the App Store and your mobile device's Android or iOS software. We recommend this but it may not be necessary in some cases. If you are running into an issue in which you are at the upload screen on the Swim.com mobile phone app and it is not finding new workouts, you will likely need to cycle the Bluetooth connection between your Pebble and mobile device. Unfortunately Bluetooth can often be a very unstable technology that drops the connection from time to time and needs to be reset.
Here are some steps you can take to cycle the connection:1) Power the devices off and back on. A soft reset sometimes can resolve an issue. An easy way to do this is by going into and out of airplane mode.2) Power down likely interfering devices. Trying to run several Bluetooth devices at the same time on one phone can sometimes be problematic. Power those other devices down. Also, if a your Pebble Time/Steel/Classic was previously paired with any other device, turn off that other gadget.3) If a soft reset doesn't work, forget your Pebble from your mobile device and then re-pair it. If your phone of tablet sees a device butisn'treceiving all of the data it should from it, sometimes it helps to start from scratch. In iOS Bluetooth settings, you can remove a device by tapping on its name and then Forget this Device. In Android settings, tap on a devices name, then Unpair. You should also forget your phone from the Pebble's Bluetooth menu.4) After that go, into the Pebble Time app and re-pair the devices. After they are re-paired, you can try to upload a workout on the Swim.com mobile app again and it should work. If not, please perform a dryland mock workout (see below) to force any files remaining on the Pebble's internal memory.
---------
Mock workouts are used to test the sync functionality of Swim.com.
For a mock/test workout, you do not have to be in a pool. You can do this sitting on your couch or at your desk. We recommend turning Bluetooth off on your mobile device while doing this, but it is not necessary.1) Start the workout with auto-interval (AI) detection off by pressing and holding the middle button.2) Make a freestyle crawl motion with the arm the watch is on.2) After about 15 seconds, thrust your arm forward as if you were pushing off the wall, the watch should then record some distance (make sure it does).3) Push the bottom button to enter the rest function after 25 yards/meters is recorded.4) Sit in the rest function for about 5 seconds, then push and hold the top button again to begin Interval 2.5) Make the freestyle motion again for another 15 seconds, and try to get the watch to push to 50 yards/meters.6) Once you hit 50 y/m, press and hold the center button to end the workout.7) Close the Swim.com app on your PebbleTo attempt another sync:
1) Restore the Bluetooth connection between your devices (if you turned off Bluetooth on your mobile phone)2) Re-open the Swim.com app on your Pebble3) Open the Swim.com app on your mobile device4) Navigate to the sync screen by either tapping the device icon in the upper right of the screen (shortcut) or the settings icon in the upper left, then selecting devices, then selecting your Pebble. The sync screen, which is the default, can be reached by touching the circular arrow icon in the bottom right of your screen. 5) Touch check for new, to begin searching for workouts. If should upload the test workout and force any other workout files remaining on the Pebble.
If your test workout did not upload, please email [email protected]
If you are missing a workout that should have appeared after performing the test workout (force sync), it's possible it is lost for good. Lost workouts can occur if you performed a Pebble firmware update or iOS/Android software update between the time you created the workout and when you went to upload it to Swim.com
View ArticleSometimes bugs that occur within the iOS and Android companion apps can prevent users from syncing their Pebble workouts. If you are experiencing sync issues, please ensure you have the most recent version of the app loaded on your mobile device and if you do not, please update it.
If having the most up to date app does not solve your problem, here are a few workarounds to try. They may or may not help in re-establishing sync communication between your mobile device and your Pebble.
1. iOS and Android: Turn your mobile device's Bluetooth off during swimming. We have found in past instances that the Pebble will sometimes try to sync the data before you are even done swimming, which will result in corrupt data.
2. iOS: If your mobile device appears to be connected in your iOS settings and via the Swim.com Companion App, but you cannot get the sync started, try re-pairing the Bluetooth connection within the Pebble Smartwatch app (orange icon). In some instances the communication between the devices stopped and needed to be reset.
3. iOS: After iOS update 8.1.2, we found that sometimes syncs would not start unless you did the following procedure: A) Turn Bluetooth off on phone B) Turn Bluetooth back on, pair your iPhone and Pebble C) Completely quit/shutdown the Swim.com iOS app D) Reopen the iOS app - if syncs do not start, log out of your account on the Swim.com iOS app and log back in. E) Open the Swim.com app on your Pebble, while keeping the app open on your iPhone - at this point the pool length selector should show up on your iPhone. F) Exit the Swim.com app on your Pebble (pool selector should disappear and syncs should start).
If you are still having trouble getting your sync started, please email us at [email protected]
View ArticleSwim.com for Pebble v2.2 operates in the default Auto Interval Detection (AI) mode. AI aims to eliminate the need for manually ending and starting intervals when you are swimming by pressing buttons to do so - with AI you should only have to press two buttons - start (top button) and end (press and hold middle button). There are two bugs affecting version 2.2: 1) a sensitivity issue in which the workout is going into rest mode when it should not and 2) inaccuracy with breaststroke laps. There is a way to override AI and use Swim.com as it was used in previous versions, which is the manual entering of intervals. The bugs do not affect manual interval entering. To manually enter intervals, you will want to start a workout by pressing and holding the middle button. When you rest at the wall, press the bottom button to end the interval. When you are ready to swim again, press and hold the top button. Ending your workout is the same as in AI, pressing and holding the middle button.
We have stopped all development on the Pebble app as of December 2016, due to Fitbit's buyout of Pebble and immediate cease in production of the devices. We do have an unreleased beta version of the Pebble app, version 2.25 which helps correct these bugs. This beta was never publicly released, however, if you are interested in obtaining this version please send an email to [email protected].

View ArticleThe list of officially supported Swim.com devices is located here: https://www.swim.com/swim-watches. It is possible to have the Swim.com app on some Android smart watches that do not have an adequate water resistance rating, and so you will need to identify if your watch IS or IS NOT intended or designed to be used while swimming as doing so without adequate water resistance could cause harm to yourself or the device and also void your manufacturer's limited warranty. We do not recommend swimming with devices other than those on the list at https://www.swim.com/swim-watches
If you wish, you can refer to your device manufacturer for information regarding your specific device and if you can safely use it for swimming without harm or voiding your limited warranty. If your watch is water resistant rated for swimming, make sure to close up any port holes, including the micro USB charging port, with the covers before getting in the water. Tread safely!
View ArticleCurrently, Swim.com does not support open water swims recorded by GPS devices (Garmin, Apple Watch, etc.). There are several reasons for this.
One reason is that there is a large margin of error possible on results and it could adversely affect the Swim.com leaderboards - one of the main features of our site.
For example, two swims of the same length or course in different bodies of water are not really comparable because of differences in tides, wind, water and air temperature, currents, etc. A person swimming in warmer water with a wetsuit and a tide or current pushing them will swim the same course length a lot faster than someone without a wetsuit in slightly colder water who might be battling a headwind. Workouts performed by the same person in the same body of water on different dates are also subject to varying tides, wind, water and air temperature, currents, etc., which could provide a slower time result even if you have actually become more fit and are swimming faster and in turn make it harder to see if you are improving. Also, many times two swims of the exact distance in the same body of water will not record the same distance because each time the watch is submerged it loses contact with the satellite and tries to regain each time it is out of the water. There is about a 10% +/- margin of error.
Additionally, when Swim.com first came into existence, open water swim tracking devices made up a very small market share of swim tracking devices. Because of the uncertainty in results recorded and because of the small number of devices in the hands of the public, a decision was made not to accommodate this. This decision could change in the future as devices continue to evolve.
Some watches that Swim.com supports have both an open water and a lap swim mode. Open water swim files from Garmin and the Apple Watch native open water swim tracker will be rejected by the Swim.com servers because they are unable to read the data.
Open water and lap swim tracking modes on watches differ in that GPS records the distance for open water while lap swim distance is collected by utilizing the device's internal accelerometer, a pre-programmed course length, and the motion algorithms programmed within the device's app (whether native or Swim.com).
In order to get an accurate result for lap swimming, the user must program in the correct course length of the pool because the motion pattern generated by a swimmer pushing off the wall with his legs (rapid acceleration after a pause in stroke pattern) during a flip turn or wall push off is what signals to the watch that you have completed a length. In open water swims, that motion pattern is not present and that is why a distance cannot be calculated in this manner and is what makes GPS necessary.

After you have done that, the app should load on the watch in just a few moments. When it is loaded on the watch, open the app and leave it open on the start screen. You should then go to the Swim.com app and touch the "Add Device" icon in the upper right corner of the screen to check and make sure Swim.com is recognizing your Apple Watch. When you are on the "Devices" menu, make sure Apple Watch is selected under Device Type. From there, try changing your pool size to something other than the default. If the watch and phone app are connected and working properly, you should see the course length change on the start screen of the watch almost immediately after changing it.
How do I set a custom course length?
To set a custom course length, open the Swim.com app on your watch and leave it on the workout startup screen. Then, open the Swim.com iOS app and select settings (cog symbol in upper leftcorner) > Devices > Apple Watch >Custom Pool Size.
When you are done setting the course length, tap "Done". The Swim.com app start screen on your watch should immediately reflect this new course length.
On the watch itself, you can toggle between a standard and custom course length by tapping on the grey course length box on the workout start screen. Doing so will expose a menu in which you can choose between courses by rotating the crown button (touching the screen to scroll is not an option). The watch will always store the last course you used, so your custom course will be there until you go back to using a standard course length. If you go back to a standard length, the next time that you need to use a custom length you will need to re-program it.
If you are having trouble with the course length feature not behaving correctly, try force quitting the Swim.com app on your iPhone and re-opening it. If that does not solve the issue, try powering down your watch and phone and restarting them before attempting to change the course length again. As a last resort, try re-installing Swim.com on your iPhone.
Do I have to lock the screen before starting Swim.com?
The act of starting a workout on Swim.com locks the screen and you do not need to manually do this from the watch OS menu. When you start swimming, the watch screen will go dark after a few moments. When you stop at the wall to rest, the screen will come back on if you lift your wrist to look at the watch (as long as you have this option enabled in Settings>General>Wake Screen). If you do not have wrist raise wake enabled, just push the crown button to wake the screen.
Again, you do not need to manually lock the screen from the Watch OS settings for Swim.com. The watch should not encounter any water damage from regular use, regardless of locking the screen or not. Locking the screen only prevents the water from producing false touches, it does not affect the hardware's waterproofing. If you want to, after you are done working out you can manually eject any water that might be remaining in the speaker by swiping up from the watch's home screen, selecting the water drop icon, and manually ejecting any remaining water by turning the watch crown.

How do I end my workout?
When you are done swimming, you will need to perform a force touch on the screen to bring up the "End Workout" option. You'll want to touch the screen and press with a small amount of force, just a bit more than you use with your usual touch, and hold it there until the end workout screen comes up. It can take a few moments, but if you continue to keep your finger on the screen and press you'll see the screen start to contract towards the middle, and then the end workout screen will appear. The force touch, which can take some practice to master, is not a specific action to Swim.com - lots of other Apple Watch apps use it. You will get better at it with practice. We have use the force touch to end the workout because the other physical buttons on the watch are reserved for WatchOS functions. After you end the workout, you should be able to see a workout summary. When this appears, scroll to the bottom of this and touch the blue "finished' button.
How do I get my data to sync to Apple Health and Activity? When you have first installed the app, you will be prompted to link Apple Health with Swim.com. To get the best results, please turn all categories on.
If you are not freshly installing the app, you will need to navigate to the Apple Health App on your iOS device and select the "Sources" tab at the bottom of the screen. Swim.com should be in the list of apps that you can source data from. Select it and then you can choose which data sets from Swim.com you want to sync with Apple Health. Selecting all of these options will also allow Swim.com workouts to be registered on the Apple Activity app. Apple Health may not pull workout data from Swim.com that was completed prior to connecting Swim.com to Apple Health.
New for Swim.com iOS version 2.x: If you have all categories selected, you can complete workouts with the native Apple lap swim tracker on your Apple Watch and they will be registered in your Swim.com swim log as workouts.
How do I start a drill mode for kickboard drills?
After you start your workout, if you don't immediately start swimming with one of the four standard strokes (free, fly, breast, back), you will be in rest mode. You will also be in rest mode anytime you stop to rest at the wall between any lengths completed with those standard strokes. Rest mode is identified by the red text on the screen that says "resting" as opposed to the green "swimming". While in rest mode, force touch the screen to expose the drill/pace/end workout menu.
If this is your first time using drill mode, a short prompt will explain how to use the feature. To set your drill mode distance, touch the blue "Start Drill Mode" button and then use the digital crown button to set the desired distance. When you are ready to start the drill, simultaneously press the digital crown and side buttons and it will take you back to your workout screen. If you are not ready to use drill mode, force touch to exit the mode.
How do I set the pace/send-off timer?
At the beginning of your workout (right after you hit the blue start button) you will see the watch is in resting mode. This is noted in red text on the screen.
While in rest mode, force touch the screen to expose the drill/pace/end workout menu.
If this is your first time using the pace/send-off timer, a short prompt will explain how to use the feature. To set your desired pace duration, touch the blue "Start Pace Mode" button and then use the digital crown button to set the desired duration. When you are ready to start the timer, simultaneously press the digital crown and side buttons and it will take you back to your workout screen. If you are not ready to use the timer, force touch to exit the mode.
What can I do if workouts are not transferring from my Apple watch to Swim.com?
If you are unable to sync workouts, resetting the Bluetooth connection between the watch and phone app can sometimes help. To do this, first force close the Swim.com app on your Apple Watch ( https://www.imore.com/how-force-quit-apps-apple-watch ) and then force close the Swim.com app on your iOS device ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201276 ). Then shut down and restart both devices. Once both device are running, open the Swim.com iOS app, then open the Swim.com watch app. Give the devices about 15 minutes to sync data. You can refresh your feed on the Swim.com iOS app by toggling between the Progress and Swim tabs.
The app isn't counting my distance correctly, why?If you are getting wildly inaccurate lap or distance results, try a different turn technique at the wall. Our app's algorithms require that you perform a flip or open turn at the wall (preferably using your watch hand to touch the wall). If you can't perform those types of turns, at minimum you will need to push off the wall with your feet and glide for a few yards before resuming your stroke. If your turn consists of swimming to the wall, touching it, turning, and immediately resuming your stroke, you will likely get incorrect lap counts because there is not enough of a difference in your motion pattern for the watch to interpret a turn happened - it looks like one giant, continuous length to the watch. The watch needs the rapid acceleration off the wall combined with the pause in arm motion by gliding through the water to understand that a turn happened.
Other factors that could produce inaccurate lap counts are: 1) switching stroke type mid-length 2) pausing for several seconds to let another swimmer pass you in the lane 3) low stroke rates on your length 4) not using drill mode for kickboard drills
I don't want to see distance, I'd rather see lap count, how do I change that?To change this setting, open the Swim.com iOS app. Navigate to Settings>Devices>Apple Watch. Touch "Distance Units" to open a menu in which you can choose from yards/meters, laps, or lengths.
Why isn't heart rate data displayed in my workout stats?
We've noticed that the Apple Watch HR is not as accurate in water as it is on land based activities, and this likely has to do with water getting trapped between the sensor and your wrist. This can cause some pretty erratic and incorrect readings. Because of these incorrect readings, we have decided to hold off on putting heart rate metrics into the Swim.com workout analysis (for now). False HR data could potentially hinder those who are using it for HR zone training.
Eventually we want the stats on a Swim.com workout analysis to include total workout average heart rate, average heart rate per interval, and also per length. We're hoping that Apple will at some point update the firmware to help with HR accuracy. If that happens, we'll revisit adding HR data to our stats analysis.Currently, you can only see your total average heart rate for the workout on the Swim.com file in Apple's Activity App.
Why are my workouts showing 0 calories on Apple's Activity app?The 0 calories report on the workout summary in Activity is happening because we don't actually support the calorie metric yet on Swim.com. Apple has the calorie metric API open to us in Activity - so it's definitely possible to add it, and we will be investigating it for a future app update. However, there are currently issues with the HR data coming from the Apple Watch, which can affect the accuracy of calories burned while swimming.
You can usually get a ballpark estimate of calories burned using height, weight, age, and gender, but in order to get it within an acceptable rate of accuracy you also need to include fitness level. Heart rate data is really the only way to put a quantitative measure on fitness level (aside from V02 max, which likely isn't coming to swim tracking devices soon). The Apple Watch is the first device we've supported the HR metric on, mostly because it's one of the only devices that works in water without requiring a special swimming HR chest strap and hasn't had WHR disabled while swimming. Because the HR data coming from the Apple Watch is not to our accuracy standards yet, we likely won't include calorie count until it does. While you are getting a 0 calories burned result for the Swim.com workout in Activity, you may notice that you ARE getting calorie count in Activity's "Move" ring, though. This is happening because Activity is adding estimated calories burned from the data it is taking from your Apple Watch. The Apple Watch has auto-detection algorithms for swimming, so even if you do not start a native apple watch workout and you go swimming, it will pick up these strokes and add them to your data. This happens simultaneously while recording a swim workout with the Swim.com app. See the screen shot below that illustrates this. This breakdown is available if you open the Health app and then navigate to Activity>Swimming Distance and then tap on the graph. There you will be given a list of dates and you can further break it down on each day, which is the screenshot above. Here you can see Health is pulling data sourced from Swim.com AND from Apple Watch's auto detection algorithms at the same time. Health is taking that data sourced from the Apple Watch auto algorithms and then adding that to your calorie total (the Move ring in Activity). When you view the workout itself though (sourced from Swim.com ) on Activity, you'll get a 0 calorie because we're not writing that data.
Can I use Swim.com with a first generation Apple Watch?
The Swim.com app software will work with your first generation Apple Watch. However, the device does not have sufficient water resistance to be safely used while swimming. Swimming with this device could damage it and void any applicable warranties. For more information on the first generation Apple Watch and water resistance, please refer to this help article from Apple:

View ArticleSwim.com recently became compatible with a third smartwatch platform, Samsung's Tizen! Currently, Swim.com is only available for the Samsung Gear Sport, but more Samsung devices will follow in the future.
To get Swim.com on your Samsung device, you'll need to download the app from the Galaxy App Store app on your watch. You'll also need to install Swim.com on your mobile device by downloading the app either from the App Store or Google Play. Once both apps have been loaded to your devices, you'll want to pair your Swim.com watch app to your mobile device.
To start, open the Swim.com app on your mobile device (for the purposes of this instructional, we are using an Android device) and touch the add device icon in the upper right corner.
From there, select Samsung as your device type. The pairing code will be found on your watch.
To locate the pairing code, open the Swim.com app on your Samsung watch and navigate to the account settings. Opening this will give you a unique pairing code that you will then want to enter on the Swim.com app on your mobile device.
When pairing is complete, you will want to adjust your settings before swimming.
Course length is set directly on the Swim.com watch app. First, select the numerical length (ex: 25 yards for a standard short course pool). Then select units to choose between yards and meters.
You also have the ability to set a distance goal if desired. Setting a distance goal allows for the watch to alert you when you have completed the desired distance swam.
Once you have your settings completed, you can begin swimming!
Once you hit swim, the timer will begin and you can begin your first length if you are swimming free, breast, fly, or back. You do not need to lock the screen or turn on any sort of water lock as this will happen automatically for you. There are a few features available to use while swimming and these are accessed by twisting the watch bevel. The first two you will encounter are pace and drill mode.
Pace mode allows you to set a countdown timer that will vibrate at the end of the timer to alert you if you are on pace or not. Drill mode allows for you to swim lengths using a non-traditional stroke or kickboard set. Both features work similarly in that you can adjust the timer by touching the time or adjust the distance by touching the distance and using the touch screen to scroll to your desired time or distance. Press the top side button to begin the timer or drill mode. When you are done using the feature, you will need to manually disable the water lock by pressing and holding the bottom side button for two seconds and the app will revert back to normal swimming mode. After completing this last step, either the timer will disappear or the drill total will be added to your overall total.
Rotating the watch's bezel also allows for additional views, including previous interval stats (time, distance, strokes per length, SWOLF score, and pace per 100y/m), overall swim stats (stroke per length, SWOLF score, and pace per 100y/m), and heart rate.
When you are done with your workout, you will want to end the swim by rotating the bezel until you reach the end swim menu. From there, press the top side button to end the swim and you will be provided with a swim summary. You can then safely exit the app.
You can view swim history from the app's main menu.
If your Samsung watch is connected to WiFi, the file should transfer directly from the watch to Swim.com's servers without any sort of prompt and become available to view on either the Swim.com mobile app or www.swim.com. If the watch is not connected to WiFi, the watch will utilize the Bluetooth connection to the mobile device to transfer the file to the Swim.com mobile app, where it will then be sent to our servers. If the file is not appearing in your Swim.com account within 30 minutes of completing the swim, sometimes you can force this transfer by going into the history on your watch app and selecting the workout to view. After viewing the file, it should transfer within minutes. If you still have additional issues with transfer or have any other questions, please email [email protected]!
