Business formal, the more formal the better, this is a request nsurance company, most traditional and risk adverse culture ever. Don’t take risks on how you dress up.
How's the feedback proccess at Swiss Re?
THere is no feedback culture in most of the firm. Colleagues are afraid to give feedback as fear of retaliation is high. As a typical Swiss attitude neutrality prevails and everyone tries to survive without raising confrontations
What's the pay like for IT roles at Swiss Re?
The Pay is one of the issues as compared to peers. Swiss Re tends to be conservative and I have heard complaints internally. There have been performance based bonuses and hikes - but you cannout compare to the pre 2008 financila crisis era. Most have not received any pay raise since then. The pay is average to good.
What's the vibe like in the IT dept at Swiss Re? How many hours are you working?
I can say for my teams - responsible and client centric. Working hours are flexible and we encourage a good family and work life balance. We believe that team productivity increases.
What's the IT team like at Swiss Re?
Swiss Re has several teams in 30 or more countries that catter different business groups from Reinsurance, Insurance. Investment etc. There is a overall strong IT culture but each team and unit is in a way independent. I have worked with several groups and tems and fortunately had greate experience, however you can end up in a team that you do not like. Change is not a problem.
How's the leadership on the IT team at Swiss Re?
It's a very innovative and strategic leadership team. Over all I would say that Swiss Re is quite ahead of their peers and leaders are open to challenges.

Interesting and nice people, largely Europeans

More true enablement and collaboration in action rather than in talk.

Too much talk, not enough action.

Stop calling the command/control culture, something unique to Swiss Re; call it what it is.
