Frequently Asked Questions About Swivl

  • If you find that your C Series Robot is exhibiting one of these symptoms, you can follow the directions below to reset the base and update the firmware:

When you plug the base into charge, using the included USB power block and USB charging cable, the base shows no sign that it is charging.

When you dock the Marker into the base, it shows no sign that it is charging.

The Swivl Robot will not turn on.

When you turn on the robot and connect it to a device running the Swivl app, the app shows no sign that it is connected to a Swivl.

    Solution:

Hard Reset: Plug in the wall charger and connect the Swivl base to power. Hold down the power button on the base for approximately 8 seconds, until both LEDs on the base turn orange. Turn on the robot.

Update Firmware: Turn on the robot. Open the app on your mobile device, and connect the robot with the device. A message will pop up, requesting that you update the firmware, tap Allow to install the update. Otherwise go to Settings, check for updates in Swivl Firmware filed and tap to update. This might take a minute or two and make sure you let both base and marker firmware get updated.

    Marker Hard Reset

If you find that the Marker will not turn on, despite being successfully charged, you will need to perform a hard reset as follows:Hold down the power button on the Marker for 8-10 seconds. The Record LED will flash orange and the Marker will turn off. Hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds to turn the Marker back on.

  • With Swivl you can now stream real-time video with a colleague or coach, or even broadcast to the world. Use the C-Series robot* with the Zoom app**

    *Gen2 robot is not supported.

**Zoom app has been successfully tested with both iOS and Android compatible devices for two-way video calling so we recommend using the Zoom app.

    uploading via your cloud.swivl.com account

Setup for Live Stream with Zoom app:

    1. Connect your C Series and marker with your mobile device - check if the robot is connected in the Swivl app Robot tab and/or make sure to have four green lights: two on the base and two on the primary marker

    2. Go to Swivl app Settings and enable Swivl Live with Zoom button in your Capture Screen Action Bar (you will only need to do this once after installing Swivl app)

    3. Now that the Zoom icon is placed on your capture screen, you just need to tap it every time you wish to start streaming with Zoom.

Important: Make sure you have Zoom app installed on your mobile device beforehand

    4. Note: the Swivl app must always be opened first and it mustremain running in the background.

Setup for Live Stream with Intercut, Hangouts, Youtube, Facebook or other apps***:

***Swivl Live is mostly supported for two-way video calls via Hangouts - may not work optimally depending on your configuration. Swivl Live has been tested to be compatible for one-way video streaming to: Youtube Live & Facebook Live.

1.Connect your C Series and marker with your mobile device - check if the robot is connected in the Swivl app Robot tab and/or make sure to have four green lights: two on the base and two on the primary marker

    2. Go to Swivl App Settings = > Advanced = > Audio Configuration and manually switch to Distance Audio mode

    3. Now open Hangouts/YouTube/Facebook/other app and proceed with its setup steps for live streaming

    4. Note: the Swivl app must always be opened first and it mustremain running in the background.

    Android devices:

1.Connect your C Series and marker with your mobile device - check if the robot is connected in the Swivl app Robot tab and/or make sure to have four green lights: two on the base and two on the primary marker

2.Go to Swivl app Settings and enable Swivl Live with Distance Audio button in your Capture Screen Action Bar (you will only need to do this once after installing Swivl app)

3.Now that the Distance Audio icon is placed on your capture screen, you just need to tap it every time you wish to start streaming with Zoom.

Important: Make sure you have Zoom app installed on your mobile device beforehand

4.Note: the Swivl app must always be opened first and it mustremain running in the background.

    General tips:

    Broadcasting Audio:

When Swivl is in Distance Audio mode, the audio from all the markers are merged together and synced with the video (if you are streaming video). This means that the remote person(s) on the other end can hear the audio from all the markers at the same time.

Listening to Audio of Remote participants:

The person using Swivl can hear a remote persons voice in two ways:

    1. By connecting a headset to the primary marker for one on one conversations (through the right earbud only). AirPods are supported

    or

    2. By connecting a USB speaker to the Swivl base for group conversations, e.g. USB speaker. Make sure to connect and turn your USB speaker on first and then turn on the base and proceed with Live Streaming setup.

    Bluetooth speaker won't work unfortunately.

    Tracking:

Tracking of the Swivl base can be paused by pressing the center button on the primary marker even while using Zoom.

Recording your Live Streaming session and Swivl Teams:

Swivl Live is a feature that enables you to minimize the Swivl app, open a 3rd party app, and continue to use Swivl tracking and Marker audio, but it does not record video through the Swivl App.

If you would like to record while streaming you need to start your Zoom session from a laptop because only the web version of Zoom allows for recording of a session. The Swivl app will stream your video regardless if you are the person who initiated the Zoom meeting. You can be a general participant and join someone else's Zoom meeting and still live-stream with Swivl.

After recording your Live stream session via Zoom, you can upload your recorded video file (mp4) to Swivl Teams by downloading the video from Zoom.us to your desktop and then .

Switching back to Classroom Audio mode for Zoom will be done automatically so the next time you press the record button after connecting your Swivl robot to your mobile device will automatically put Swivl back in traditional recording mode.

    Apple TV

If you connect to AppleTV BEFORE opening the Zoom application, the audiowon'twork. Apple hijacks the audio stream; however, if you connect to AppleTV AFTER connecting to the Zoom session, it is OK. Therefore, make sure you setup Swivl in Distance Audio Mode and join your Zoom session first, and then it should be OK to mirror to AppleTV.

  • MARKER FUNCTIONS

The Primary Marker has three functions within the system:

    Tracking (via infrared)

    Audio Capture (built-in microphone)

    Control of the App/Device (buttons)

We have a short demonstration video of how to use the Primary marker below or if you would like to listen to this article instead, check out our podcast: Swivl Tips Podcast on Marker Features.

The Secondary markers traditionally serve as additional sources of audio collection and pressing buttons on these markers will not interfere with the recording session.

    BUTTONS

Center Button:The Center Button can be set to perform a couple of actions within the Swivl app in the Settings menu. By default, the center button is used to pause or un-pause tracking.

Pause Tracking: Pressing the Center Button will pause tracking, meaning the Swivl robot will no longer follow you until you enable tracking again. This is a useful feature if you need the Swivl to remain still while adjusting settings on your Swivl app on your device. Note that pausing tracking will not pause a recording session if one has already started. The recording will continue, but the robot will remain still. You will need to press the center button again to resume tracking.

360 Video: Pressing the Center Button will cause the Swivl base to do a complete turn to pan around the room.

Directional Pad:The Right and Left buttons can do a couple of things. During Live Listening if you are using multiple secondary markers, you can listen to specific student groups live. Otherwise, if you have uploaded slides to your Swivl app, you can control the slides that you are presenting by using the Right and Left arrows. Right will advance to the next slide, Left will go back to the previous slide. More features coming soon!

You can also use Right and Left, Up and Down buttons for manual tracking: press and hold the directional arrow you need for a few seconds and Swivl starts moving in the direction you choose. You can press Center button to stop tracking at any point and thus fixing camera in a specific position. Press Center button again to resume tracking or adjust robot positioning.Record Button:Tapping the red button on the side of the marker will initiate recording within the Swivl app. Tapping it again will stop the recording with default settings. If you end the recording you will have to start another one by tapping the record button. Swivl is recording when the red light on the Primary marker remains lit.

Note that you can set your Primary marker record button to start and pause recording - see more details here: Pause/Resume Your Video

    MARKER COLORS

The Marker Packs come with sets of 5 pairs of dot stickers, 2 of each color: Red, Blue, Orange, Purple, and Green. When you pair the additional markers to your Swivl Robot, the Swivl app will prompt you to assign a color to each Secondary Marker. When you choose a color in the app, apply the stickers of the same color to each side of the marker to track which color you chose.

  • Time-stamped comments may be left on your own videos or other videos that have been shared with you on Swivl Teams. If you are a Standard user on Swivl Teams, you will not have access to Rubrics on your own videos.

From your Library navigate to the video you want to leave comments and click it.

Your comment thread appears on the right-hand side of the video.

You can choose to leave comments or notes, which are private and also time-stamped.

As you watch the video, you can click in the comments field at any time and the video will pause.

Type your comment in the text field and press Send to post it.

If you are a member of a Team, you can also apply one or many Comment Categories

When commenting on videos shared with you under "Feed," you have the option to make the comment viewable to everyone, or to leave a private comment for the video owner.

Comments are time-stamped, just like notes and slides, and can be used to navigate through the video. Click on a comment to jump to the moment in the video that the author wrote it.

You can also watch our handy video to see time-stamped comments in action:

    Comment playback*

Coaches and peers leave time-stamped comments on teacher videos to focus the conversation on specific rubrics or high impact moments. For longer videos, this could mean dozens of comments. To save time, wouldnt it be great to automatically skip to high impact sections of the video where a comment was posted? Now you can. When three or more comments are present in the video just enable Comment Playback while reviewing your cloud video to optimize playback based on comments, including Bookmarks! Video automatically starts playing 10 seconds before the moment when the comment was left until 10 seconds after this moment and then switches to the next comment.

  • By default, the Swivl app will create a new video file in your Library each time you start and stop recording. In the Swivl app settings, however, you can adjust this so that when you are recording, you can simply pause the video capture, then resume again without creating a whole new file.Using the pause/resume feature, you can cut out interruptions in a lesson from your video without having to do any post-production editing.

    Enable Pause/Resume Recording

Open the Swivl app and tap on Settings in the right navigation bar.

    Tap Marker record button.

Select Start / Pause / Resume Recording. Now you have the ability to pause your video capture.

    Use Pause/Resume While Capturing

Pause/Resume can be used whether you are using a Swivl robot to capture or not. The record button refers to either the button on the screen of your mobile device or to the red button on the side of your Swivl Marker, depending on which you prefer to use or have available.

Open the Swivl app and begin video capture.

Tap the record button to pause your video capture.

The next time you tap the record button, video capture will resume.

To finish video capture and upload your video to your Swivl account, pause capture and then tap Stop Recording.

Your video will now appear in your Swivl apps Library.

  • This article might be helpful if you notice the following issues during the video playback:

    The video is freezing when you click on the Play/Pause button, switch between markers or jump to another time;

    You get an error message The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported;

The video keeps buffering on attempt to trim it or add slides.

In this case please try to perform the following steps:

    Use laptop not mobile and make sure to have very good wi-fi;

    Restart your web browser;

    Connect the computer to another Wi-fi network;

If it is a Multi-Marker video please turn off the Auto-audio mode:

If nothing helps, it could be an anti-virus software on your computer blocking the video so turn it off (including built-in Windows defender) and see if this helps.

Multi-Marker project: for all markers playback any browser works fine. If switching between the tracks we recommend Safari, IE and Edge for the best experience while Chrome and Firefox may need page refreshing and cause pauses

If you have two or three recorded video clips (without slides) for one lesson or activity and would like to merge them into one single project, follow the steps below:

Select two or three video projects using the checkbox at the top right-hand corner of the videos you wish to merge.

    Click the Merge button

Enter Title and Description in the Merge pop-up and click Save button

Merging videos is great for capturing a highlight reel of video clips but there are some limitations in the types of video files that can be merged together so please refer to the guide below. Remember that you will always retain the original video files in your Swivl Teams library so if you make an error you can attempt a new merge.

    Merge Scenario

Single-camera videos: (recorded with one device) that originated within the Swivl app

Single video files (recorded with one device) that originated elsewhere and uploaded via Swivl Teams video upload tool

Multi-camera videos: *only the primary device's video* that originated within the Swivl app will be included in the newly merged project. Additional camera's video files: C2, C3, C4, C5 will remain attached to the original MC project.

Multi-marker videos: depending on the configuration of original videos, the final merged project may either have multi-marker or a mixed audio track. Typically, if all merged videos were multi-marker type projects and had an identical number of audio channels, the final merged projects will result in a multi-marker project. Otherwise the final merged projects will have mixed audio.

Speech Analysis: unfortunately, for Swivl team members, projects with Speech analysis data will not be carried over to the final project, even if multi-marker videos were merged successfully. The analytics will remain with the original file.

Retain HD quality: unfortunately, any merger between HD videos with SD videos result in SD final video

    1. Download the video ( Link to download guide)

    2. Upload the video to YouTube (Note: We do not recommend uploading to YouTube due to privacy concerns )

    3. Enable 'auto-generated closed captioning'

  • Swivl Teams is 100% FERPA / COPPA compliant in the U.S. and GDPR compliant in the E.U. and we are a member of the Privacy Shield Framework (UK/Switzerland). Still, we are dedicated to securing private and safe spaces for the use of video in your organization as an educational tool for students, a professional learning tool for teachers, coaches, and admins, and for various applications in research, so we have been compiling sample permission forms, media releases, and MOUs from existing customers.

Managing a video observation requires more than just understanding how to use the tools that enable you to capture excellent audio and video and provide a platform for collaboration. So if you have ever asked yourself:

How do I implement the use of video within my organization?

How do I get my teachers and coaches on board for using video in their classes?

    What about parental notifications?

I'm working for a School of Education; how may I cooperate with our district partners for our field experience program?

We are happy to share some templates we have gathered with you provided you send a request to: [email protected]. Please include your name, role, and organization in your email request to us.

Additionally, one of the best places we've found sample forms and templates to utilize when designing your video observation program is Harvard's Best Foot Forward Project: Video Observation Toolkit. Some of the most common templates to use are available to download at the bottom.

  • If you have recorded a video with a C Series with multiple markers and then preview it in the Swivl app, you will only hear the audio from the Primary Marker. This is because the multi-audio track capability is a feature specific to Swivls video player on cloud.swivl.com, and is not supported on your mobile device's video player. Once you upload your video to your Swivl Teams account, you will be able to hear all marker audio tracks, and can select to mute or play specific tracks.

Downloading from Swivl If you choose to export from Swivl and download your video file that was captured with multiple C Series markers, your video file will contain all tracks of audio merged together.

Downloading via iTunes If you download your video straight from your iOS device to your computer via iTunes, your video file will only contain the primary marker audio track. If you want to have all audio tracks on the video file, you will first need to upload to Swivl from the Swivl app, and then export your video. Ensure your Markers are Paired

When you are recording your video with multiple markers (whether on a C Series or Gen 2 robot), always check to make sure that all markers are paired to the base. A fully paired Primary Marker will have two solid green LEDs, and a paired Secondary Marker will have a single solid green LED.

Check the capture screen. When markers are turned on (and paired), they'll appear lit up in your marker menu on screen:

  • As a Team Admin, you have three choices when updating your team member listing in order to make space for new members or when a video project has ended:

Remove, Lock, or Downgrade to Standard

    Remove:

Removing is useful when you simply want to remove an account from your team. The user will still have access to Swivl Teams as a Standard (free) user of Swivl with no affiliation to your team whatsoever.

    What happens to their videos?

All videos uploaded up until the point they are excludedremain in the Team Admin portal under "Videos" in the Videos Tab (you do have the option of removing all video content by that user when you select Remove)

If the removed user continues to use Swivl Teams, they will still have access to all of the videos they created; therefore, it is important to remember that:

If the removed user shared any of their videos whilst a Team Member to a Team Group or otherwise via Direct Share and then theydeletethesevideos from their library, the recipient(s) will also lose access to those videos in their Feed

Utilizing the Remove feature frees up the license previously associated with that person, which you can now allocate to a new or existing user.

    How to Remove:

create a brand new Swivl account

    Lock:

Locking is useful when you want to prevent a user from accessing their Swivl account in the future (e.g. when they leave your organization and videos must be kept in the hands of the Team Administrators). The user will no longer have access to Swivl Teams using the email that was associated with them as a Team Member. If they wish to access Swivl Teams in the future, they will need to with a different email address.

    What happens to their videos?

All videos uploaded up until the point they are lockedremain in the Team Admin portal under "Videos" in the Videos Tab.

Utilizing the Lock feature frees up the license previously associated with that person, which you can now allocate to a new or existing user.

You mayunlock users at any time, which gives the user access to login again in the future.

    How to Lock/Unlock:

    Downgrade to Standard:

When you purchased your team license you paid by the number of Pro licenses and we provided you with unlimited Standard users. We do this so you can easily switch Pro with Standard and vice versa throughout your subscription period without exhausting your limits. You can check your account limits and current distribution of seats in your subscription information panel on the main overview page of your Admin portal:

When you downgrade a user from Pro to Standard, that user will still have access to your team as a Standard team member, with fewer capabilities than before.

    What happens to their videos?

All videos uploaded up until the point they are downgradedremain in the Team Admin portal under "Videos" in the Videos Tab.

Standard team members will still have access to all of the videos they created, but with limited capabilities; therefore, it is important to remember that:

If a downgraded user shared any of their videos whilst a Pro Team Member or higher to a Team Group or otherwise via Direct Share and then they decide todeletethese videos from their library, the recipient(s) will also lose access to those videos in their Feed.

Utilizing the Downgrade to Standard frees up the license previously associated with that person, which you can now allocate to a new or existing user.

    How to Downgrade a User:

Swivl+ is a simple desktop app for your computer that records whats on your screen, like powerpoint slides, videos, or your lesson activity. At the same time your Swivl robot continues to follow you and will record both you and your screen. It will even record the audio from your computers speakers. After recording, both videos upload to your Swivl Teams account automatically.

    Screencasting works best when you:

Show videos as part of your presentation

Use on-screen tools and software to aid math or science curriculum

Present slides with audio or animations

Demonstrate best practices for PD sessions

Or anytime you want to produce a high-quality presentation!

Capture the presenter and their laptop/desktop screen at the same time

First place the screencast button on your capture screen for easy access. Find this in your app settings.

    here

When the screencast button is present, you can tap it and it will generate a pin code.

Open the Swivl+ app for desktop.* Download it for your Mac or Windows .Enter the pin code you generated in the mobile device.

Choose your preferences for Screen and Audio collection using the desktop client.

Now, using the Swivl app on your mobile device, start your recording as usual, using the Primary Marker or by tapping the shutter button on screen.

When the recording has ended, both videos (your Swivl video and the screencast of your desktop) will upload to Swivl Teams simultaneously, as per your selected upload settings (we recommend Auto-Upload).

View your video as a side-by-side dual-camera project in your account on cloud.swivl.com.

From here, you can select the audio track you want to hear (either the Primary Marker or the audio from your desktop) and you can maximize your camera view to focus on one particular video over the other.

*If you are on a Mac and your security settings block you from opening the app, go to "System Preferences" then "Security & Privacy" to allow the app to launch.

  • Adjust Microphone Gain

If you find that the audio being recorded through the Markers is too loud or soft in the video, you can adjust the microphone gain through the Swivl app.In order to do this, open the Swivl app and connect your device to the Swivl robot. Turn all Markers on. Open the capture screen and tap on the marker icon above the capture button (shown below). Here you can adjust the gain for each individual Marker, labeled by color. Raising this for a Marker will allow it to pick up student voices more clearly in a group. Please note that this might also increase amount of noise. Lowering Marker sensitivity will reduce the amount of noise, and voices will come through more softly on the recording.

    markers are paired

You can also check your microphone gain and adjust it on Robot tab in your Swivl app. See green indicator moving as you speak into the marker

Note:If you find that you are capturing audio from the built-in microphone in your mobile device, rather than from the Marker, check Marker Settings on the Capture screen or on the Robot tab to make sure your .

    Smart Playback *

Omit the insignificant sections of your videos, such as periods of extended silence. Watch videos in half the time with intelligent playback. For Pro users, we enabled a machine learning algorithm that intelligently and securely analyzes the video in your project to optimize what you see and hear in your classroom.

If you are only a Standard user, you can't enable Smart Playback on your own videos but don't fret! If a Pro user shares a video with you that is over 10 minutes long, you will also be able to utilize Smart Playback mode on the shared video.

If you would like to enable/disable the default option for Smart Playback on videos over 10 minutes long, go to your Account Profile, click Settings tab and scroll down to the notifications section:

Toggle the auto-enable Smart Playback to OFF and you'll be all set. You will still be able tomanually select Smart Playback on all videos uploaded over 10 minutes long in the playback bar as shown in our instructional video above.

  • When you upload a video to your Swivl Library, it starts off completely private by default.

There are four options to share videos:

Direct Share to other Swivl Teams users*

    Share to a Group*

    Share an Unlisted Weblink

    Embed*

    *requires Pro

To begin, select a video you wish to share, and either click on the button 'Share' and select the appropriate option from the dropdown menu or choose from the quick select option on the video thumbnail in your Library.

    1. Direct Share to other Swivl Teams users*

When you selectDirect Share and enter someone's email address, whomever receives this email will either prompted to sign in to their existing account or to sign up for Swivl Teams in order to view the video. The Swivl Teams user who receives your video needs only a Standard account at minimum to view and leave comments on your video.

In the future, any videos that have been shared with you directly on Swivl Teams will appear in "Feed-Shared with me"

    2.Share to a Group*

Share to a Group: Allows you to add other Swivl Teams users from your team member listing so multiple team members can watch your videos and leave comments. Ideal for sharing videos for PLCs, Mentor Groups, and PD.

You must bePro user on a Teamto share to a Group you're part of, but the users in your Group can be Standard or higher to view the videos and leave comments.

Any videos that have been shared with you directly on Swivl Teams will appear in "Feed-Shared with me" and can further filter by "Group Feed"

    3. Share an Unlisted Weblink

Sharing an unlisted weblink allows you to share videos with anyone using a unique, unlisted URL regardless of them having a Swivl Teams user account. To reiterate this, note that whomever has access to this weblink will not be required to sign in to Swivl Teams to view this video and therefore, this method is not private or secure. We recommend using Direct Share or Share to a Group whenever possible.

When you click Share Unlisted Weblink, we will generate the unique weblink for you to share.

IMPORTANT: Do not share the URL that is in your browser's address bar. You must share the unique weblink created for you otherwise your recipients will not be able to access the video.

As a reminder, this the only Sharing option for Standard users, so when you share via a web-link, the recipients with whom you share the link won't be able to leave comments directly on the video. If you wish to receive comments on your video, you must select Direct Share or Share to Group, which both require Pro.

    4. Embed project

Embedding a video creates an HTML code to paste into an LMS, webpage, blog, etc. Your video will be directly viewable by anyone with access. You must be aPro user to sharevia this method.

First, select your desired settings then copy the generated embed code that will appear at the bottom.

Auto Audio smoothly switches your audio track for you by selecting the most dominant marker at each specific moment. Auto-audio playback is simply a playback mode and does not affect the video file. Switching it on allows you to enjoy the advanced playback, while switching it off allows you to manually select your own marker tracks to listen to.

Please note when Swivl is used with an Android device with OS 6 or 7, unfortunately there is a maximum limit of two audio channels due to operating system peculiarities. Any additional audio channels, will be merged into the second audio channel.

  • Occasionally, you may need to switch your Markers from one C Series robot to another. Watch the video below to see how this is done. Step-by-step instructions follow the video.

    Re-pairing the Primary marker:

Connect your Swivl robot to your mobile device and open the Swivl App.

Plug the Swivl robots wall charger into an outlet and plug it into the base.

Simultaneously hold down the + sign and tap the power button four times then release both buttons. This will clear the robot's memory of any Primary markers previously associated with it.

The Pair LED on the robot base will become solid red when it has reset.

Chooseany marker and dock it in the back of the robot to pair.

Wait for the LED to stop blinking and become a solid light, then remove the marker from the dock and turn it on.

When you turn the marker on, it will recognize it as the Primary marker in the Settings menu.

Repeat these steps for all secondary markers you would like to re-pair to your unit (up to five total markers per robot, including the Primary marker).*

*Note, that only the first marker that is re-paired to your robot will be the Primary marker. The remaining markers you re-pair will be added as secondary markers and you will be prompted to select a new color for each.

  • There are a few best practices you should employ if you notice that Swivl gets "stuck" facing a wall or whiteboard.

Remember, Swivl's primary marker is being tracked by maintaining a line of sight with the infrared technology located on the front of your Swivl robot base. In other words, your Swivl must be able to "see" the primary marker in order to track efficiently.

Whenever possible, wear the primary marker around your neck, high on your chest (use the lanyard slider to adjust it higher or lower) or you can purchase a marker clip in order to affix it to your top.

    support

Watch this quick video about how to wear the lanyard properly for optimal line of sight:

Keep Swivl located centrally in the room and at least 4 feet away from any walls or whiteboards, if possible. The ideal placement is shown above, using a floor stand to avoid obstructing students' views.

Finally, if Swivl is panning upward and downward erratically, go to the App Settings menu and turn Auto Tilt OFF. Then enable Tilt Correction mode (not available for Android users currently) to see if this helps.

If you're still encountering issues due to the layout of your classroom, contact so we can assist you based on your environment.

  • Swivl uses lithium polymer/ion batteries and if proper care is taken, they can last upwards of 4 years depending on usage. The most common reason why a Swivl may not hold charge is if it has been stored without use for more than 9 months. Any device with lithium batteries experiences this issue if they have been on the shelf for extended periods of time without being charged. To prolong the life of your Swivl, please follow the recommendations listed below:

Best practices for prolonging long-term battery health of Swivl

    1. Always charge the batteries of both the base and markers completely before using them for the first time.

    2. If you are using your Swivl frequently, have the charging cable connected whenever possible. It is not necessary to charge and discharge your Swivl often if they are being used frequently. In fact, the batteries last longer if they are not subjected to frequent charge/discharge cycles.

    3. Before storing your Swivl for extended periods of time, dock the marker in the base and make sure they are both charged to 100%. Store the Swivl with the marker docked in the base. If you have additional markers, make sure they are also charged to 100% before storing them for extended periods.

    4. Take the Swivl out of storage at least once every 3 to 6 months and charge it back to 100%. The batteries slowly lose charge over time even if the device is turned off and can become unusable if the batteries are left completely to die.

    5. Never let the batteries on the base or the marker run out of battery completely. This significantly shortens the life of the batteries. Always pay attention to the low battery indicator and plug in the Swivl for charging as soon as you see the low battery indication.
