Layoffs from 2015-2018 have been done in small batches in different months (possibly to avoid having to provide advance notice of the layoff as mandated by the California WARN Act). From what I’ve heard (from individuals who have been laid off), people being laid off are generally notified in the morning, are given approximately 30 minutes to gather personal items, then escorted to HR and then out the door. The layoffs are not generally addressed by management in large organizational meetings. Departments with affected individuals may have a group meeting to announce that the affected individual(s) are no longer employed by the company. With the exception of the recent announcement that the Dayton, Ohio site was closing, I have not received any advance notice that specific rounds of layoffs were scheduled to occur. In my observation, the majority of layoffs in this time period have affected employees who have worked at Teradata for a significant length of time (> 10 or 20 years).
